I know several people over 30 years old who listen to this. Also, I think its because genres very similar to this, and for the most part this genre itself, aren't even barely older then 15 years old, I know its been around for longer but at a level similar to this? No. So I think the age group reflects to genre's age.

actually it was the kids that ruined the name of the scremo because scremo is what post hardcore bands call themself.. like asking alexandria or attack attack those bands that do highs screms pitchy highs and alot of clean vocals that were or used to be called scremo bands but later the scene kids started to call themself post hardcore which has nothing to do with post hardcore.

post hardcore is the same as hardcore just diff sound and vocals are a mix between pitchy high-med and harsh from 90s

screamo is just a word that people who listen to the radio use to describe any music that screams. I hate it when people say "I like all music, except for that screamo stuff" for one, they don't like polka, classical, blue grass etc, and "screamo stuff" encompasses so many different types of music that they have never listened too because of one narrow minded view.

1) Metal and Metalcore are NOT the same... just because they have the word "metal" in them. They sound totally different.

2) "Screamo" is NOT even a real genre. Its become more of a 'slang' term to refer to any song with screaming in it.

3) Amyst is not "Metal"... they can be described as post-hardcore and metalcore.

In layman's terms:

* metalcore= more screaming, less singing.

* post-hardcore= more singing, less screaming.

.`. Amyst= straight down the middle of these two genres.

@atticus999x Metal and metalcore arent even remotely the same. Its like comparing Crunk with crunkcore, or Eloctronica with electronicore.... all "core" genres are totally different.

Traditional metal involves growling or unclean vocals. Metalcore involves screaming & not growling, and usually has clean vocals.

In layman's terms:

more screaming, less singing= metalcore

more singing, less screaming= post-hardcore.

Amyst is right down in the middle between post-hardcore & metalcore.
