@666or999 Interesting things would happen to you in this type of vacuum. Your blood would boil, down to lack of pressure and the air inside you would cause you to swell like a balloon. Then we have the high radiation levels (although this wouldn't affect the Doctor), but a human would be dead in less than a minute, and would die shortly afterwards. You wouldn't blow up like a bomb, but the blood pressure and air pressure in your body would burst holes in your body.
Thanks for the review. From what I have read on the internet, this seems to have been the first episode in a while that has divided audiences so much. Personally, as far as christmas speacials go, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't a scratch on some of the stories of the previous series.
I would rather that future episodes were not based loosely on traditional novels. Its suprising that they havn't brought back the Ice-warriors, they would be an ideal antagonist for a Christmas speacial.
@lp2294 Why would you want Nu-hu to destroy another perfectly good monster from the original series? They should just stick to the Angels & keep bringing them back with a load more plot holes & contradiction & dumbed-down dialogue.
@LegoDaleks I think that is a bit unfair on Steven moffat. He has proven to be an excellent writer for Doctor who, I just think the reason why the was the Christmas speacial was bad because he tried in excess to make it too light-hearted ie. the everbody lives clich, for family viewing. Which, unfortunately is a major hold back for the writers, they're reluctant to explore darker tones but even more the case with RTD.SM nevertheless has produced some fantastic stories for series 6,
@lp2294 No, Muppet has proven to be an unimaginative, unoriginal, uninspired, base, banal, sub-standard hack for DW. The Christmas one was like all his others - about some little girl AGAIN. He's obsessed with the little girl story. He should have just stopped after The Empty Child. @lp2294 Blink is only good cuz of the lack of Tennant. It's not actually anything like DW. It should have been made into a movie or something. Time of Angels & Flesh & Stone are total crap though. They don't even seem to be written by the same guy. People who don't know very much usually think Muppet is original. Series 5 is full of flaws & the Dr getting out of trouble using his wang, Big Bang is unoriginal, The Silence is unoriginal, The Hungry Earth, the list goes on & on.

@ZipZagginGallifrey FYI there is a difference between basing some DW stories on classical literature & Muppet's plagiarism -Big Bang is just like the Time Travellers Wife (a modern American piece of crap). Brain of Morbius is based on Frankenstein, but it isn't just the EXACT same story, it's a whole new one.

To me RTD made him not the other way around. Tennant was not that famous when RTD plucked him out and made him The Doctor. I believe Matt or any other actor under RTD would have shone. He is just amazing. IE in Casanova he never knew anything about him and yet pulled off the best ever.
Now Mark knows me and knows that I tell it how I see it. I have no time for fans that says I am talking BS yet have no other explanation than that. I am not walking away from Doctor Who, but I am dissapointed in S5-6 and hope that something new comes out of S7. If not the BBC only have so much money and if its not paying it will be shelved like the 80s
@Aspergianstar2009 It won't be shelved. I love how you try and pretend the series under Moffat is failing just because it's not doing what you want it to do, but in the real world where we live, the series is doing just fine and bagged itself another Hugo award. Not bad for a show "supposedly" failing. No wonder people say you're full of shit. Get on the bandwagon, Moffat is king, and you KNOW it you aspie bitch
RTD showed that with the right direction and proper acting Matt Smiths Doctor could be respected a lot. At the moment he seems to be just trying to find his feet but Moffat has had 3 years now to get it right. RTD nailed it in just SJA. Moffat however can't nail it in 3 years. he also has too much work on and it shows where his loyalties lye
@Aspergianstar2009 Moffat DID nail it in three years you simpleton,...also, I love how you say RTD nailed it when he barely did anything that hadnt already been done by Moffat and his crew...just shows your stupid bias against Moffat and preference of RTD is showing. Your opinion means nothing you aspie freak
Matt in my opinion was the wrong choice. Tennant gave off authority he could switch on the anger when he needed too and was funny later on. He had some of Tom Bakers Quirks. Lets forget the looks of Tennant. Nobody can deny that he nailed the part and you respected him. I am sorry I have tried to like Matt but I can't see him as anything more than a Companion and sometimes I think Rory and Amy are the Doctor and the Assistant and he is just tagging along
In one of my videos I discuss two concepts. I believe that under RTDs guiding hand Moffat does brilliant scripts. However left to his own devices and nobody there to pull him on certain parts he simply goes over the top. For instance RTD probably had Matt shoot that SJA scene loads until he nailed TheThird Doctor. But Moffat would not bother. Matt needs to be more like the man of many faces. He still comes over as a young kid that is more a companion than The Doctor
It is not MOffats best but its the best so far and at Christmas it just hit the right note. This story actually was meant to make the Doctor realise how is companions missed him and so much so they left him a place. Moffat has not in my opinion really nailed Doctor Who. He has tried his best with various ideas. I think Matt does not give off any authority either. You could not imagine Donna or Rose taking orders from him. He is more like that little brother that tries to be big
@outofthegreenmist if you were half as smart as you thought you were you would realize that a human could last a total of a minute and a half need proof of my statement go to nasa's website
@IJUSTSUBSCRIBENOW when did I become a troll must called me a troll and it hurt my feeling. Psssh whatever just asking though since rarely ever comment on videos which I think is something that is a prerequisite to being a troll
@bigkon420 If YOU were as smart as YOU think YOU are, you'd remember that I don't have an issue with the opening sequence. My issue was with YOU accusing other fans of being ignorant of Dr Who history. I have asked you several times to justify your statement and you haven't yet, because you can't. It is YOU is ignorant of the show's history. You become a troll when, instead of reasoned debate, you throw personal insults, and I don't give a damn about your 'feelings' as trolls don't have any!
@outofthegreenmist I'm the troll yet I haven't posted on this vid in like a day and a half and yet my name is still in tour sorry kid but that is called projection if you need me to explain hit me up and thanks for using my argument against on somebody else it makes me proud. To finish keep being passive aggressive your opinion is of high value to me
@bigkon420 Listen troll, I'm not even that hung up about the opening sequence, but I resent patronizing trolls calling those who don't agree with them 'kids' who don't understand science or Dr Who history. I asked you to justify your comment that Dr Who history validates the idea that the Doctor can survive in a vacuum. I have watched Dr Who since 1970. I am not a kid. I am an educated adult and you have yet to answer my question. You are the aggressive sh*t stirrer.
Lets assume that The Doctor was in a different part of Quantum Physics then that would finally explain how a ball could bounce and allow him to be driven towards the Tardis. Quantum Physics is a branch of Physics that explains inexplicable moments where the laws of Physics do not apply.
@outofthegreenmist I'm not going to explain the spitfires in space as that was done in victory of the daleks so pay attention next time jackass and just to call out bullshit teleportation as described in star trek is a physics based impossibility so yeah go be one of those jackasses that thinks realism can be to the benefit to anything scifi or comics based it's people like you that make comic book movies an epic failure for the most part so yeah go eat a dick
@bigkon420 Well, isn't it a sign of a well reasoned argument when one is reduced to personal insults? No, it's a sign of a troll. I asked you for evidence that the Doctor can survive in a vacuum, because you implied that questioning that was a sign of ignorance of Dr Who history. Instead, you call me a 'jackass'. Wow! Very clever, mate. Well done. I think we can see who the jackass is. Grow up.
I think he could talk in space and not explode an all that because of all the air rushing out of the spaceship. That and the fact he has super lungs (as I call them).
I will never do the popular bull shit like turdis and his chums Mark. I felt the Christmas Special was far better than last year. I felt it was very emotional and also for once had a beginning and a middle and an end. He explained why the Doctor came out of hiding saying he was dead and stepping into the shadows. The fact Rory and Amy set him a plate at the xmas table. I really thought you above all people would have worked that one out
Wow people bitching about science fact in scifi lmmfao. And it's not even the first the doctor has survived unaided in the vacuum of space learn your whostory kids other than clowning idiots I liked mainly because of the references to the original run
@bigkon420 Well, OK then, EDUCATE us ignoramuses about the Doctor's ability to survive in space! Does Moffat understand what a vacuum is? He's given us Spitfires in space and whales moving in space! Good sci-fi has a grounding in real science, otherwise it's magic, fairy dust and Harry Potter crap. As the Doctor says to Omega in "The Infinity Doctors", 'If everything is possible, there's no fun.' Any idiot can come up with 'anything can happen' - that's not sci-fi, it's fairyland!
@outofthegreenmist in Doctor Who in the past The Doctor Said he could hold his breath for several hours. Enough for him to hit earth and not be killed. I know its a long shot but so is super man. This is not about facts it is science fiction. We do not know about the Doctor. We don't know him as human. He could have a totally different breathing system to humans
@Aspergianstar2009 In four to doomsday or something similar when it gets to the end He gives the helmet to the alien and says he needs it more than me. The Helmet has oxygen in it. So that proves that The Doctor does not need as much air as a human being.
@Aspergianstar2009 In 'Four To Doomsday', IIRC, he places the helmet over Monarch because the ship's life support systems are shutting down (everyone else on board is an android and doesn't need oxygen) and the TARDIS crew are leaving.
@outofthegreenmist yes so suddenly the rest of the crew suddenly get protected and don't have problems with breathing. It doesn't make sense. Then again Moffat says he is a fan of the classic series and therefore will be using elements from the classic series in his stories
@bigkon420 if we bitching about that how come The Doctor once threw a cricket ball and it happened to defy gravity bounce back off the ship and he used it to push him into the Tardis. Come on people. That was a Peter Davison Episode. Stop trying to put fact in Doctor WHo. It is meant to be a Science Fiction Show. You could say with Star Trek how could teleporters work. Or you could say that Time Travel was impossible. Its not Science Fact
@Aspergianstar2009 The cricket ball didn't defy gravity. Stop trying to put 'fact' into Dr Who? That's why it's called 'science' fiction and not 'fantasy'. The word science implies a grounding in scientific facts. A cricket ball could move in space if an astronaut threw it, but a whale couldn't move in space by flapping its fins, and an aeroplane couldn't move by spinning its propeller. This is pre-GCSE stuff.
@outofthegreenmist Ok science is a study of theory. I did A level Physics not GCSE. There is some gravity in space not zero gravity. However gravity would have lifted the ball. The momentum of the doctor throwing the ball would not have made it travel towards the ship. The gravity would be stronger and therefore it would suck the ball upwards like a hoover. To test this theory you need to take a look at physics and the laws of physics unless you are talking about Quantum Theory
wtf there was no trailer at the end AND STEVEN MOFFAT IS MAKING DOCTOR WHO CRAP like The end of time was one of the best doctor who eps ever And theres only going to be 6 eps In 2012..... i am not happy. he better be lieing about the 6 eps or i will Stop careing about doctor who One more thing AMY IS LEAVING :( :( :(
@iloveamypond137 I normally take anything Moffat says with a pinch of salt, but I don't think he is lying about the half a season next year. As I understand it, there was no trailer for 2012 because they haven't produced anything yet, so it's highly unlikely there will be anything at Easter. Looks more like half a season starting in September. If I can be bothered watching it.
@iloveamypond137 Playing with it is exactly what he is doing. He has had three years now and we're still getting excuses like 'he's fine-tuning it', or 'he has some plan that will become clear in 2013', or 'he has kids and is tired and stressed from "Sherlock" and "Tintin". Excuses like these get other people sacked. Imagine telling your boss, "I'll get the job right two years from now, just wait and see." Er, don't think that would work somehow.
@outofthegreenmist they have not really finalised it. But I think we will find that Rory turns on the Doctor and Amy has to make her ultimate choice. Its crap. I am watching the old stuff such as Turn Left it is so much more emotional. Tennant connects with the audience and really wakes them up. He puts every ounce of power into his performance. When you feel the script is getting drab suddenly he is on a horse crashing through a mirror. You have no time to get bored
@iloveamypond137 not it was not the best. I hated the fact Captain Jack was found on some kind of space station with Adipose, Judoon etc there. It was crap and was a piss take of Starwarz. Where the hell did Marther Jones leave her medical profession to become a mercenary. The only similarity between her and Micky was that they are both black
A lot of people are complaining about that beginning, basically, I don't care if it defies science, it was great. Matt Smith freefalling to Earth trying to get into a space suit backwards... its genius! I liked the episode overall, yeah there were technically no bad guys, but it was a good episode for Matt's Doctor plus the mention of Androzani Major made me smile :D
The doctor getting shot into space was SO stupid purely because of the physiological implications. I thought the episode was rushed too. Those are the only things I found were wrong with it.
The 12 Days of Christmas or....The 12 Days of Doctors or The 12 Companions! Rose,Donna,Martha,Captain Jack,Micky, jackie, willifred, amy, rory, craig, lady christina del suza, astrid with a human doctor thrown in.
FYI the Doctor has a larger lung capacity than humans and so he can keep more oxygen in his lungs for longer and thus can speak/ survive in space longer than humans. It's been mentioned before :P
@outofthegreenmist Hmm I know but it still makes sense. I found nothing wrong with it because clearly there's some form of Time Lord-y thing ensuring he doesn't die out in space for a short moment
@Dalekdom Sorry, but it really doesn't make sense. Moffat has given us whales and Spitfires in space and I'm convinced he doesn't know what a vacuum is. He probably thinks it's another name for a Hoover. I'm not expecting Dr Who to be an Open University lecture on physics, but a framework of real, BASIC, high school science would be preferable to the world of Harry Potter the show is drifting into.
@outofthegreenmist you don't get it the entire story was about a mother having to break the news of the demise of her husband to the children. It was not only about the loss of the Father but through that The Doctor learns that people are missing him. That is how he returns to show his face at Rory and Amys House. Doesn't anyone get this. For once Moffat actually pulled off a brilliant script with loads of emotion.
@Aspergianstar2009 I know what the story is about. I don't deny Moffat has good ideas. My problem is that he doesn't think them through or develop them properly. RTD did sentiment well. I get the feeling Moffat isn't really a sentimental guy. Fine - he doesn't have to be. An author reveals his own personality in his writing. With Moffat, the sentiment is overdone, false, syrupy, phoney. He has an odd obsession with complexity. Complex does not equal intelligent. I think he should leave.
@outofthegreenmist You will see my ideas in the new video we are going to upload. I use clips and my ideas and Annettes to explain where I think Moffat is going. Also I am no fan of Moffat at all. But I do feel credit should be given when he does something worth while like blink
@Aspergianstar2009 I know you are no fan of Moffat. We have had this discussion before. I don't understand what you are saying about gravity and the cricket ball, but we'll let that pass. If it is any consolation, Moffat is a highly opinionated man who has never shied from spouting quite unfair criticism of past Doctors, and of past eras and past writers of Dr Who. By all means, defend him if you wish, but it is only fair that those of us who believe his own era doesn't bear scrutiny say so.
@outofthegreenmist I agree about what you say about Moffat but I happened to have loved The Christmas Episode. It would not have worked well when it came to S6. But it was just right for the family at Christmas. The Doctor Who Christmas Special should always be light hearted and easy to watch. People do not want doom and gloom at Christmas they want laughs and also magic. Kids love the magic element as well and adults can relate to the loss of someone special. I loved it.
@Aspergianstar2009 I take your point about Xmas and I have already been accused of nitpicking. However, that is one of the issues I have with Moffat. You might find an episode reasonably enjoyable but, 5 minutes later, you think, "Hang on, that's not quite right." And that leads to something else, and before you know it, you're feeling angry, cheated, short-changed and wishing the last 3 years were a bad dream. My issue is not with Matt, but, even there, his performance is becoming OTT.
@outofthegreenmist Moffat laid out his mantra for Doctor Who in 2010 when he called it a "Dark fairy tale", meaning the Harry Potter-esque realm is what he legitmatley views the show to be. Frankly, I like it, I hate when such a ridiculous premise like Doctor Who tries to be "serious sci-fi", it's too daft for that
@ZipZagginGallifrey Even the Dr's magic wand has more capabilities than Harry Potter's. There's nothing fairytale like about the nonsense of series 5, like him escaping the pandorica using his wang, or the 45 mins it took for the Daleks to have a design change & then bugger off instead of destroying earth like they promised. I suppose you mean lack of sci-fi when U say fairy tale, like when Amy deactivates a bomb using feelings, or Amy bringing the Dr coming back to life using feelings.
well, if steven moffet is going to keep making his christmas specials rip-offs of great christmas stories then i would venture a guess that next year's christmas special would be how the grinch stole christmas. i really think he should come up with his own crappy material and stop taking the credit for those great writers and having them do half the work for him.
@outofthegreenmist One I thought he would try is 'The Wizard of the Clock' style or 'The Grinch' but 'The Doctor & The BeanStalk' sound like a reasonable prediction. It is bound to be one of the classics, as it has been over the past two years, and I think he likes doing that.
@SuperNathan125 Tricky, there hasn't been a bad Christmas Special from 2005 to 2011, but I would favourite the End of Time 1 & 2 as the best overall. I would have to point a finger towards the one with the Titanic, simply because it didn't feel very Christmassy??? I'll have to think of the order, but it may turn out that the Scrooge one will go second, before End of Time 1 or 2, but one of the End of Time is my favourite.
@Igamer124 Thinking about it now, maybe I meant that I wanted a enemy that learned something and became a tragic enemy that was saved somehow? Like in Christmas Carol, which is why I think that worked a lot.
Guys can we at least be civil? When I shared my view, I wasn't asking for a personal argument. There's no point getting all over zealous about it, the fact is that no one opinion is absolute fact and everyone is entitled to their own. If not the BBC only have so much money and if its not paying it will be shelved like the 80s
Aspergianstar2009 1 month ago
@Aspergianstar2009 It won't be shelved. I love how you try and pretend the series under Moffat is failing just because it's not doing what you want it to do, but in the real world where we live, the series is doing just fine and bagged itself another Hugo award. Not bad for a show "supposedly" failing. No wonder people say you're full of shit. Get on the bandwagon, Moffat is king, and you KNOW it you aspie bitch
ZipZagginGallifrey 1 month ago
RTD showed that with the right direction and proper acting Matt Smiths Doctor could be respected a lot. At the moment he seems to be just trying to find his feet but Moffat has had 3 years now to get it right. RTD nailed it in just SJA. Moffat however can't nail it in 3 years. he also has too much work on and it shows where his loyalties lye
Aspergianstar2009 1 month ago
@Aspergianstar2009 Moffat DID nail it in three years you simpleton,...also, I love how you say RTD nailed it when he barely did anything that hadnt already been done by Moffat and his crew...just shows your stupid bias against Moffat and preference of RTD is showing. Your opinion means nothing you aspie freak
ZipZagginGallifrey 1 month ago
Matt in my opinion was the wrong choice. Tennant gave off authority he could switch on the anger when he needed too and was funny later on. He had some of Tom Bakers Quirks. Lets forget the looks of Tennant. Nobody can deny that he nailed the part and you respected him. I am sorry I have tried to like Matt but I can't see him as anything more than a Companion and sometimes I think Rory and Amy are the Doctor and the Assistant and he is just tagging along
Aspergianstar2009 1 month ago
@Aspergianstar2009 You're wrong. As usual.
ZipZagginGallifrey 1 month ago
In one of my videos I discuss two concepts. I believe that under RTDs guiding hand Moffat does brilliant scripts. However left to his own devices and nobody there to pull him on certain parts he simply goes over the top. For instance RTD probably had Matt shoot that SJA scene loads until he nailed TheThird Doctor. But Moffat would not bother. Matt needs to be more like the man of many faces. He still comes over as a young kid that is more a companion than The Doctor
Aspergianstar2009 1 month ago
It is not MOffats best but its the best so far and at Christmas it just hit the right note. This story actually was meant to make the Doctor realise how is companions missed him and so much so they left him a place. Moffat has not in my opinion really nailed Doctor Who. He has tried his best with various ideas. I think Matt does not give off any authority either. You could not imagine Donna or Rose taking orders from him. He is more like that little brother that tries to be big

Quantum Physics is a branch of Physics that explains inexplicable moments where the laws of Physics do not apply.

bigkon420 2 months ago
@bigkon420 Well, isn't it a sign of a well reasoned argument when one is reduced to personal insults? No, it's a sign of a troll. I asked you for evidence that the Doctor can survive in a vacuum, because you implied that questioning that was a sign of ignorance of Dr Who history. Instead, you call me a 'jackass'. Wow! Very clever, mate. Well done. I think we can see who the jackass is. Grow up.

And it's not even the first the doctor has survived unaided in the vacuum of space learn your whostory kids other than clowning idiots I liked mainly because of the references to the original run
bigkon420 2 months ago
@bigkon420 Well, OK then, EDUCATE us ignoramuses about the Doctor's ability to survive in space! Does Moffat understand what a vacuum is? He's given us Spitfires in space and whales moving in space! Good sci-fi has a grounding in real science, otherwise it's magic, fairy dust and Harry Potter crap. As the Doctor says to Omega in "The Infinity Doctors", 'If everything is possible, there's no fun.' Any idiot can come up with 'anything can happen' - that's not sci-fi, it's fairyland!
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist in Doctor Who in the past The Doctor Said he could hold his breath for several hours. Enough for him to hit earth and not be killed. I know its a long shot but so is super man. This is not about facts it is science fiction. We do not know about the Doctor. We don't know him as human. He could have a totally different breathing system to humans
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@Aspergianstar2009 In four to doomsday or something similar when it gets to the end He gives the helmet to the alien and says he needs it more than me. The Helmet has oxygen in it. So that proves that The Doctor does not need as much air as a human being.
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@Aspergianstar2009 In 'Four To Doomsday', IIRC, he places the helmet over Monarch because the ship's life support systems are shutting down (everyone else on board is an android and doesn't need oxygen) and the TARDIS crew are leaving.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist yes so suddenly the rest of the crew suddenly get protected and don't have problems with breathing. It doesn't make sense. Then again Moffat says he is a fan of the classic series and therefore will be using elements from the classic series in his stories
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@bigkon420 if we bitching about that how come The Doctor once threw a cricket ball and it happened to defy gravity bounce back off the ship and he used it to push him into the Tardis. Come on people. That was a Peter Davison Episode. Stop trying to put fact in Doctor WHo. It is meant to be a Science Fiction Show. You could say with Star Trek how could teleporters work. Or you could say that Time Travel was impossible. Its not Science Fact
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@Aspergianstar2009 The cricket ball didn't defy gravity. Stop trying to put 'fact' into Dr Who? That's why it's called 'science' fiction and not 'fantasy'. The word science implies a grounding in scientific facts. A cricket ball could move in space if an astronaut threw it, but a whale couldn't move in space by flapping its fins, and an aeroplane couldn't move by spinning its propeller. This is pre-GCSE stuff.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist Ok science is a study of theory. I did A level Physics not GCSE. There is some gravity in space not zero gravity. However gravity would have lifted the ball. The momentum of the doctor throwing the ball would not have made it travel towards the ship. The gravity would be stronger and therefore it would suck the ball upwards like a hoover. To test this theory you need to take a look at physics and the laws of physics unless you are talking about Quantum Theory

iloveamypond137 2 months ago
@iloveamypond137 I normally take anything Moffat says with a pinch of salt, but I don't think he is lying about the half a season next year. As I understand it, there was no trailer for 2012 because they haven't produced anything yet, so it's highly unlikely there will be anything at Easter. Looks more like half a season starting in September. If I can be bothered watching it.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist Thats what i mean. Its like he is playing with it.
iloveamypond137 2 months ago
@iloveamypond137 Playing with it is exactly what he is doing. He has had three years now and we're still getting excuses like 'he's fine-tuning it', or 'he has some plan that will become clear in 2013', or 'he has kids and is tired and stressed from "Sherlock" and "Tintin". Excuses like these get other people sacked. Imagine telling your boss, "I'll get the job right two years from now, just wait and see." Er, don't think that would work somehow.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist they have not really finalised it. But I think we will find that Rory turns on the Doctor and Amy has to make her ultimate choice. Its crap. I am watching the old stuff such as Turn Left it is so much more emotional. Tennant connects with the audience and really wakes them up. He puts every ounce of power into his performance. When you feel the script is getting drab suddenly he is on a horse crashing through a mirror. You have no time to get bored
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@iloveamypond137 not it was not the best. I hated the fact Captain Jack was found on some kind of space station with Adipose, Judoon etc there. It was crap and was a piss take of Starwarz. Where the hell did Marther Jones leave her medical profession to become a mercenary. The only similarity between her and Micky was that they are both black

Jbscoolsims 2 months ago
A lot of people are complaining about that beginning, basically, I don't care if it defies science, it was great. Matt Smith freefalling to Earth trying to get into a space suit backwards... its genius! I liked the episode overall, yeah there were technically no bad guys, but it was a good episode for Matt's Doctor plus the mention of Androzani Major made me smile :D
Trayusstudent1 2 months ago
The doctor getting shot into space was SO stupid purely because of the physiological implications. I thought the episode was rushed too. Those are the only things I found were wrong with it.

FYI the Doctor has a larger lung capacity than humans and so he can keep more oxygen in his lungs for longer and thus can speak/ survive in space longer than humans. It's been mentioned before :P
Dalekdom 2 months ago
@Dalekdom In "Four To Doomsday" he wore an oxygen mask/helmet thing and in "Zygons" he went into a self-induced trance to survive decompression.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist Hmm I know but it still makes sense. I found nothing wrong with it because clearly there's some form of Time Lord-y thing ensuring he doesn't die out in space for a short moment
Dalekdom 2 months ago
@Dalekdom Sorry, but it really doesn't make sense. Moffat has given us whales and Spitfires in space and I'm convinced he doesn't know what a vacuum is. He probably thinks it's another name for a Hoover. I'm not expecting Dr Who to be an Open University lecture on physics, but a framework of real, BASIC, high school science would be preferable to the world of Harry Potter the show is drifting into.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist you don't get it the entire story was about a mother having to break the news of the demise of her husband to the children. It was not only about the loss of the Father but through that The Doctor learns that people are missing him. That is how he returns to show his face at Rory and Amys House. Doesn't anyone get this. For once Moffat actually pulled off a brilliant script with loads of emotion.
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@Aspergianstar2009 I know what the story is about. I don't deny Moffat has good ideas. My problem is that he doesn't think them through or develop them properly. RTD did sentiment well. I get the feeling Moffat isn't really a sentimental guy. Fine - he doesn't have to be. An author reveals his own personality in his writing. With Moffat, the sentiment is overdone, false, syrupy, phoney. He has an odd obsession with complexity. Complex does not equal intelligent. I think he should leave.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist You will see my ideas in the new video we are going to upload. I use clips and my ideas and Annettes to explain where I think Moffat is going. Also I am no fan of Moffat at all. But I do feel credit should be given when he does something worth while like blink
Aspergianstar2009 2 months ago
@Aspergianstar2009 I know you are no fan of Moffat. We have had this discussion before. I don't understand what you are saying about gravity and the cricket ball, but we'll let that pass. If it is any consolation, Moffat is a highly opinionated man who has never shied from spouting quite unfair criticism of past Doctors, and of past eras and past writers of Dr Who. By all means, defend him if you wish, but it is only fair that those of us who believe his own era doesn't bear scrutiny say so.
outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist I agree about what you say about Moffat but I happened to have loved The Christmas Episode. It would not have worked well when it came to S6. But it was just right for the family at Christmas. The Doctor Who Christmas Special should always be light hearted and easy to watch. People do not want doom and gloom at Christmas they want laughs and also magic. Kids love the magic element as well and adults can relate to the loss of someone special. I loved it.
Aspergianstar2009 1 month ago
@Aspergianstar2009 I take your point about Xmas and I have already been accused of nitpicking. However, that is one of the issues I have with Moffat. You might find an episode reasonably enjoyable but, 5 minutes later, you think, "Hang on, that's not quite right." And that leads to something else, and before you know it, you're feeling angry, cheated, short-changed and wishing the last 3 years were a bad dream. My issue is not with Matt, but, even there, his performance is becoming OTT.
outofthegreenmist 1 month ago
@outofthegreenmist Moffat laid out his mantra for Doctor Who in 2010 when he called it a "Dark fairy tale", meaning the Harry Potter-esque realm is what he legitmatley views the show to be. Frankly, I like it, I hate when such a ridiculous premise like Doctor Who tries to be "serious sci-fi", it's too daft for that
ZipZagginGallifrey 1 month ago
@ZipZagginGallifrey Even the Dr's magic wand has more capabilities than Harry Potter's. There's nothing fairytale like about the nonsense of series 5, like him escaping the pandorica using his wang, or the 45 mins it took for the Daleks to have a design change & then bugger off instead of destroying earth like they promised. I suppose you mean lack of sci-fi when U say fairy tale, like when Amy deactivates a bomb using feelings, or Amy bringing the Dr coming back to life using feelings.

well, if steven moffet is going to keep making his christmas specials rip-offs of great christmas stories then i would venture a guess that next year's christmas special would be how the grinch stole christmas. i really think he should come up with his own crappy material and stop taking the credit for those great writers and having them do half the work for him.

outofthegreenmist 2 months ago
@outofthegreenmist One I thought he would try is 'The Wizard of the Clock' style or 'The Grinch' but 'The Doctor & The BeanStalk' sound like a reasonable prediction. It is bound to be one of the classics, as it has been over the past two years, and I think he likes doing that.

What do you think has been the worst Christmas special since 2005?
SuperNathan125 2 months ago
@SuperNathan125 Tricky, there hasn't been a bad Christmas Special from 2005 to 2011, but I would favourite the End of Time 1 & 2 as the best overall. I would have to point a finger towards the one with the Titanic, simply because it didn't feel very Christmassy??? I'll have to think of the order, but it may turn out that the Scrooge one will go second, before End of Time 1 or 2, but one of the End of Time is my favourite.
IJUSTSUBSCRIBENOW 1 month ago
You don't always need an enemy. It doesn't always have to be about defeating a villain.
Igamer124 2 months ago
@Igamer124 Thinking about it now, maybe I meant that I wanted a enemy that learned something and became a tragic enemy that was saved somehow? Like in Christmas Carol, which is why I think that worked a lot.
