carol sager had her season with help from dionne warwicks & burt bacharach Marie Osmond sounded good But Chaka Khan & Joyce Kennedy rebirthed this Song Soulfully With Meaning, Precision & Power & the greatest vocals I appreciate This Version in This Season!
@BLAQUEMUSCLE I love everything Dionne sings, and she was Burt Bacharach's demo singer, and I think all those versions are better than Bayer Sager's, but she did co write it, and as they were together at the time, it has a certain vibe to it. Thanks for posting all these great clips :)
@JonnyFork I didn't say she co-wrote it ! Without Dionne , Chaka & Joyce the song would still be obscure ! Even the version by Marie Osmond is Outstanding !
Great performance! I had alway's wished Warner released this as single back than. I Feel for You (the album) had so many possible singles and in my opinion was a liitle ahead of it's time. The programing that was done on that album for that time was amazing. One of my favorite's from C.K.
trho1 we seem to be on the same page. This performance was off the meter. Chaka's voice was right on point and like you said that guitar player was just off the hook. I absolutely love his solo.
this is a powerful arrangement! off the hook low and high notes all in tact! no one can touch her! and the guitar player is off the hook as well! what a team they are in the zone! yes
Can you guys help me decide? I don't know which version I love the best. This version, "Stronger Than B4 #1" or "Stronger Than B4 #2". They both are great and bring something different to the plate. Chaka is JUST AWESOME!!!!!
Wow, that was moving. Chaka needs to put this back song back into her concert list. Always loved this song. Too bad it didn't get the airplay that it deserved. That guitar player is NASTY!!!! He is off the chain!!!!
This is truly a song that you had better not attempt if you don't have the pipes. Otherwise it's gon' get real ugly, really quickly. Joyce and Chaka set the bar really HIGH with this one. Get it, MAMI'S!!!!
Speaking of stronger, I think her voice is stronger now but I would consider the 90's as her 'vocal' prime. 10*s for this awesome performance and post! =)
Yeah I agree. 70's her voice was still growing and the 80's wasn't as bad as people think of her but the 90's was definetly her prime and I think the strongest contralto-ness of her voice. Its crazy because when I compare clips of then and now I'm amazed how much MORE power she's gotten, as if she wasn't powerful enough LOL.
Mid-80s she had that throat infection that eventually led to surgery. Guess we just thought that her voice got stronger now but it was always that way. Thing is she was singing a lot of jazz during her prime which required her to be more artistic then fierce.

A true jazz vocalist sounds like an instrument. Chaka is a human trumpet!
