this man went through such hideous things grew up really poor his dad abandoned him and his mom and brother, she was put into debtor's prison. just a whole lot of crap, and he used that bum character all the way to the bank he was way ahead of his time in film making and comedy. what a genius that america tossed away cus he was one of tons of ppl who were hungry enough to sign some dumb commie petition.......sad

i think its from one of his home videos which he often did when a famous video came over. he rarely in the early years do a film with out his mustache and derby right to in fact great dictator in 1940 from then on he never did use the tramp outfit again for his last 4pictures.

I think it's a publicity shot with a visitor to his studio because you can see the Chaplin Studios in the background. His whole studio was built like a Tudor-style English village!
