Oh my word! How absolutely amazing! Found this quite by accident, and so glad I did. Covington is truely a gifted singer, from my earliest recollections of her stunning, and definitive rendition of Don't Cry For Me,Argentina.Got quite a lump in my throat there, listening to this, lol.Didn't know she was still performing.Does she have any concerts coming up,anyone know?!
I agree with simadrid2000. She has a litle bit of those singers. It´s a pitty she did such a few recordings, her voice is so bright and melodic. Thanks for posting
Oh, definitely, Julie Covington is a wonderful singer. She just focused on stage acting instead of singing. Nevertheless, her original version of Don'y cry for me Argentina is amazing.
@totoral2004 Not sure she is gay, although don't think she's married. She did the whole feminist crap in the 70s and 80's, so draw your own conclusions - all i know is she's a very talented singer.

Though there is a richness in the voice, the delivery is bland. As a performance it does not stick out either since there is no attempt to dance around etc. Nonetheless, worth watching through.
don't like having two records by the same artist on my play list but sometimes you have to give in, fantastic julie you & jaques brel sit side by side.
I had been debating with a friend for 20 years that Julie was the best Evita (he argued for Patti Lupone). Then I had him check out this video. He said "Whoa!" and painfully agreed that Julie was a better all-round singer!
this HAS to be one of the BEST BEATLES covers I've EVER heard; fragile, ethereal AND sincere - I THINK she's BEEN THROUGH the song in her life...BEAUTIFUL!
Maggie Reilly, Agnetha (Abba), Karen Carpenter, Mama Cass....Julie Covington belong to this group of singers with cristal clear voice who really meant what they were singing! What a nice surprise to find this video. She is so special and so talented...
@Pluschap Funny how often they're NOT yanks, and how often tenth rate yanks are pushed as "better" (Madonna, LaPone etc), while ignoring their own TRUE talented people.
@PhilK005 I'd have to argue with your classification of Madonna as 10th rate. She has enormous talent, but a series of crap publicists who pushed her in the wrong direction. She made me cry as Evita!
Hi All. I'm looking for a song that Julie sang called " Remember why we fell in love". This was the theme song for the UK show "Executive Stress". The song was written by L Webber and T Rice. If anyone knows of a youtube link, please send it to me.
Another fabulous rendition of a Beatles classic from Julie Covington. The purity of her voice is matched only by Judith Durham & Karen Cartpenter. [i.e. The creme de la creme of female pop singers].
Who could ever hope vest so much emotion into such a well known Beatles classic ... such power and absolute purity and talent contained within Julie Covington. Lets face it Julie proves that many singers today have very little talent and ability ... Thanks for sharing such an excellent video m1ckeyjones MAGIC
I remember this show,it was a weekly show featuring song writers, this one obviously the Beatles. I am so happy to see Julie singing again like this. Thank you for posting it. Rob
Very nice voice...

Julie was one of the female leads of the Seekers after Judith Durham left the group, I beleive. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
Michael5191949 1 year ago
@Michael5191949
No, it was Julie Anthony who replaced at one moment Judith Durham
wolfsberg68 1 year ago
@wolfsberg68 You're exactly right, although, Julie Covington is a wonderful singer. Lisa Weisling I beleive was the other Judith replacement.

is she gay? 1:21 she said "him"?
anyways, it is a very nice version..

@DONnaYR She said: "Don´t hurt my pride like him". So she isn´t gay, au contraire, she is refering to her ex-boyfriend.
totoral2004 1 year ago
@totoral2004 Means absolutely nothing. Many gay/lesbian singers sing songs about opposite sexes. Freddie Mercury did, for God's sake !

julie has a marvelous voice.
her film "ascendacy" was great too.
why has she stopped making records?
if it's record companies having no taste then why not online.
many artists are making online albums for sale.
i'd buy it.
