I saw them in chemnitz (germany) the same year as this video was taken.

My brother, my mum and i had our seats in the very back row and we danced, after our example some of the elderly (over 60) auditors started too, and the younger (around 40) were shocked. In the whole audiance i was the youngest at the age of 16 and was laughed at the next day as I told my classmates of this great music!

  • this is a classic but i can say that about most every GM song

  • I love it. I played this while in High School Jazz Band. I played the Baritone Saxophone as well and had the exact same solo as the lady playin her bari sax.. Not gonna lie...hot.

  • the mute at 0:37 is sooo awesome :L I wonder if I can get my trombone to sound like that

  • Quite a fantastic bass bone! Wow

  • WOW!!!....a lot of great talent on that stage!! Thanks for the post.

  • 10 people don't know what good music sounds like :(

  • @littleblackbelt Or their hand slipped when they went to like it :)

  • @littleblackbelt now this is the real proof it's wonderful music, normal vids have like '10 people are stupid cause they don't like this video' and if the video is even 1 week old the number is way off, here, a comment of 1 year ago is only 1 person off, love it! =)

  • I love this music it can be rough, sweet, mellow, soft, fast or whatever you want it to be. the instruments are old school and real, there are no machines to alter the sound, and it's just so cool how these guys still prevail past all the technology that artists like lady-gaga have today. They are so classy and it makes me want to live in the 40's. Hats off to Glenn Miller band you guys are awesome!

  • wow wonderful tone at the trombone solo ;)

  • Tell me who is the bassist, drummer, and the baritone saxophoniest?

  • 1:53 is that Robert Webb's semi-bald brother?

  • Very good but I don't like mutes

  • @kyle204th One can't *not* like mutes. It gives you so many different sounds to play with, no matter the ensemble!

  • solo montage!!!!!

is that really the origonal band?

the pianist looks strangely like chummy...

  • @jimjam405 The original band from the 40's....?

  • most people think bari sax is an "bass" instrument. but then they don't know which great sweet sound it gives to you!

  • So awesomeeeee, bari solo rules

  • VERY BEAUTIFUL ! ! !

  • i don´t know how often i heard this

    BUT I CAN`T STOP

  • Who is The Pianist ?

  • @nhkntvtbscxextx3110 Wil Salden :-)

  • Love that sound- thanks

  • You can convert this to an mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • Outstanding performance!

  • thanks for one of the best recordings of tuxedo junction ever

  • This piece sounds extraordinary to me even compared to the other Miller opus. There is beside all the swing and dance something severe and angry, almost resembling chamber music. Certainly not just entertainment anymore. I took the theme to a freebass accordion and It was like ... say ... Bruckner!? Does anyone agree? Maybe it's just an ephemeral impression.

  • wow that trumpet solo is to die for great music

  • I love how the only girl there is playing the Bari Sax. Way to go, girl!

  • Glenn Miller's wife was born again after her husband died.

    Btw, band sounds good!

  • WoW, One of the best modern renditions of this piece of swing I have ever heard. And what was that "Baritone Sax"? Quite the monster machine!

Next to "In The Mood", Tuxedo Junction never failed to get a party going, even as late as the early 1970's when everything was Grand Funk Railroad and Deep Purple.

  • @Afrikitty You have hit the sweet spot... this recording of Tuxedo Junction is a joy to hear. The quality, and the musicianship is amazing.

  • @deanmasonone It seems I did, didn't I? I see some of my friends have wondered in here. I didn't know Glenn Miller's wife was Born Again after he died so mysteriously over the English Channel back in December, 1944. My mother was a big fan, so I grew up listening to Big Band and Swing, such as the Dutch Swing College Band - which was more "Dixie" I suppose. Nonetheless, the nostalgia and Deja Vu is quite something. I doubt anything before Miller and certainly not after, has been this enchanting.

  • Fabulous! What a pleasure listening to such great musicians!!!!

  • I grew up in Birmingham AL. close to Tuxedo Junction. Timeless =)

  • Literally this is my favourite piece in the world. I play in my school jazz band and we just performed on stage. Huge success. The music of today pop, rap and R&B will never be, is not, and was not better than this. Glenn Miller had a legacy that will never die.

  • really really good... but they hardly look like they're enjoying it that much? this is swing for god's sake!

  • ich wünsch sony musik, die dickste pleite, damit sie die rechte an rechten verlieren auf die sie keine rechte haben. glenn miller ist musik kultur, und kultur ist ein recht der menschen.

  • And I gave up Coronet because it was to heavy to carry home from St. Pius X...

  • this is frickin' insane!! Bravo and encore!!

  • 2:24

    best trumpet solo

    n_n

  • its a penguins favorite song

  • God I hated this song back in high school jazz band. Now I get it. Took me long enough.

  • @RichyVapors

    Oop's... sorry about the 'x'

Had this great band in town late in the 70's..

First in an Arena, ..put on a great show..

Then... On a tour boat, cruising thru the 1000 Islands (St. Lawrence River)

FANTASTIC show... dancing to the music while cruising amongst the Islands on a Saturday Evening. Doesn't get much better than that.

  • amazing! im only 17 but i love glenn miller!

  • This piece can only be described as Phenomenal. Great job

  • awesome

  • Amazing Baritone sax solo!

  • I loved the bari solo!! :)

  • i loved the bari part in this :)

  • awesome performance

  • anyone know how long it takes to get a sound like that on trombone? Also anything specific i should be practicing to develop that sound?

  • Great performance, but say to be calm to the drummer!

  • great song with the best solos ever!

  • Nu förstår jag den nya systemet

  • Pure genious music. Love the muted Trumpet!

  • smooth

  • an amazing bari

  • so cool.

@zafpra lol youngsters. I'm not an adult yet but don't listen to the pop and rap crap stuff. Ska, jazz, and blues all the way. Also some rock. =D

  • I agree with samgalah. Im in my 50's now and it was my father who introduced me to this music on 33 rpm records. I liked it and continue to even now. I also like the groups of the 60's-the beatles, rolling stones, dave clark, monkees. I was a clarinet player in a hi school band and played some jazz too. Today's youngsters should be made aware that this type of beautiful music used to dominate the air waves too.

  • I am 16 and I play trumpet in my high school jazz band, 2nd part. Last year we did a Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller tribute. This is some of the greatest music of our time. And I would take it above all this phony rap and rock any day of the week!

  • I can clearly see all the band members are great musicians, but geez do they all seem like dorks.

The music they play and the vibe they give off is off, they need some jazzy coolness. No disrespect to them.

  • what do you mean?

    seem like dorks?

    they seem awesome to me.

    i'd like to meet them.

  • sweet trombone and trumpet solos!

  • This song would, in my opinion, be the greatest big band tune EVER. The Glenn Miller band must remain immortal so future generations can appreciate this fantastic era of quality music born in the war era of WW2. I was born in 1961, a bit late for the real thing but thanks to my parents appreciation of this music I also was brought up with it, as well as the Beatles, Cliff Richard etc.

  • i love it, its's just weird when you consider where this gig is, Glenn Miller and all the other great bigbands of that era are so heavily associated with WWII and entertaining the allied forces, and here they are, 60 odd years later in Germany playing to the Gerrys

  • I like the girl with the baritone saxophone.

But everybody did a great job !!

  • i love this allot the piano player is so relaxed and all the solos are fantastic

  • Trumpet all the wayyy =)

  • beautiful

  • love this version!

  • when ever i listen to this music it almost brings tears to my eyes thinking of a once great era and peoples now nearly gone and forgotten

  • dont worry. what goes around comes around. something good always lives on.

  • thanks for the kind reply.

  • hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • @ta2joe13 "Nearly" is the key word. I play in a big band, whose members recruit mostly from junior high school students. My heart grows anytime I see kids in age 12-15 enjoying such music! And what's best - new ones keep on coming! So, there's hope my friend... There is hope...

  • i played a bari sax solo yesterday, and it was shit compared to hers :P

  • why do I get very emotional as soon as I hear the first few bars of this?

  • this song is so much fun, played it in jazz band last year for the grand opening of a new train station.

  • ugh this give me chills. i used to play this all the time in pep band...oh i feel old..i miss band

  • im playing this at my school now

    and im trumept 1

and its so fukin hard to get everything i have to play

coz everything is like 1 or 2 octaves above the stave

i get a headache after from playing

either way this song its sick! i love it

    so smooth, its got style!

  • its a bari guys if you cant tell the difference then quit music altogether because its not difficult!

  • Sure, it's easy to tell the diference, but don't be a right cunt about it. Some people only know about the insturment thy play.

  • i play bari, its the best instrument ever

  • i pump out on the bass trombone

    both the same noise kind-of

  • Makes the rest of us wanna be's proud to see what the pro's can do - very well done to say the least. Power to swing music!!!

  • This music is so sexy!

  • agreed

  • The Glenn Miller Orchestra is going to playing at the Seattle Symphony!

  • Das wollten wir mal in der BigBand spielen...aber sind an keiner partitur gekomm...

  • Umm, soprano sax looks kind of like a clarinet more than a sax, tenor and alto have the same shape, just different sizes. That is clearly a baritone sax.

  • almost right the tenor has a slight curl at the top but you can also get a straight tenor and alto and also a curved soprano

  • All through high school and college I played the bari, tenor and on occasion alto. She's playing a bari. How could it be mistaken for anything else? The sound alone is a dead giveaway.

  • Lisa's saxophone isn't specified. It doesn't look like a baritone. It doesn't look like an alto or tenor either. It's a fucking cartoon. It's not made to be realistic. Shut up and enjoy the music, please.

  • when u think that lisa isn't playing a baritone saxofone please get some glasses, the sound is to low for a alto or a tenor and to high for a bass sax so she must be playing baritone

  • It could be a soprano sax for all we know hahaha

  • @blackfireINSANITY lisa does actually play bari though :)

  • fantastic!! i love this stuff. just great!

  • lisa plays bari sax... if it was a tenor, that would be one messed up tenor...

  • best bari sax solo ive seen :D

  • @olliemichaelson check out ronnie cuber as well if you like bari sax solos!

  • @kmstpt28 thanks, this was probably the first bari solo i saw, but since i have seen much better ones too :) but ill check him out too

  • @olliemichaelson check out Ronnie Cuber on youtube like his video on Filthy McNasty, very bluesy tasty blues solo.
