  • @vipercannonmafia Ya cuz for example if you wanna make a speedrun and use an A-V Jump and it's not the normal height it's counted as a TAS Speedrun not a normal one....

  • i use zdoom / skulltag and i jump the direction i want to, really high too

  • I didn't realize that these ports change the game to the point where it literally breaks it. I'm sticking to my .exe from now on.

  • Damn. I knew the Arch-Vile blasted you higher in ZDoom, but I didn't know you got pushed back towards the Arch-Vile. That's seriously fucked up...

    Also, just an observation, but did you play the Doom Legacy segment on I'm Too Young To Die? The Arch-Vile's attacks only did about 16% damage each! LOL

  • The direction bug has since been fixed (quite a while ago now), but the height remains.

    As for Legacy, yeah; due to the way the port loads PWADs (through the launcher as opposed to drag/drop), all the default settings remained intact... And for some reason ITYTD is the default difficulty.

    this is because the comp level is wrong, the comp level needs to be on 3 but the default is 2.

    but if for some reason your don't want me to know your email, i can tell you how to Chang the comp level but its kindu weird what you need to do.

  • I wouldn't call freelook 'cheating' per se, but yes, it definitely changes the experience.

    Crouching, on the other hand... completely unnecessary addition that fucks up monster's targeting.

    As for ST improving Doom, it's all down to opinion. On a personal level, I think that overall it does improve things, especially speaking as as a mapper, but there are still some horrible physics issues regarding monsters waltzing off of ledges and related.

    I tried it on GZdoom and it seemed pretty good, I only had one "bad shot".

  • Only ZDoom pulled that bullshit on me. It's since been fixed though, apart from the jump-height.

  • 2.2, which at the time of recording was the latest.

    2.3 has fixed the direction, but not the height problem.

  • I'm actually shocked by that one. It's inexcusable really, and I imagine it was brought about to allow HeXen to be playable.

    Achieving compatibilty with another game is one thing. Fucking up the physics of the original engine is something else altogether.
