@SkyExplosion Doakes WAS awesome. When he found out about Dexter's "addiction he pointed out something to him that we, as fans, had figured out in the 1st season. Despite the nature of Dexter's victims, he treats each killing as, as Doake said, "some kind of sick fuck ritual!" Even better, there was no insult of disgust in his tone when he said. Just genuine shock at how fucking disturbed Dexter really is. That probably why he warmed up to him.
Doakes kept showing up out of nowhere, I felt frustrated for Dexter, but it was funny too. I miss his character now; he made good scenes. I figured one alternate resolution would be that Doakes would come to respect Dexter and help to pin the blame on someone else. Somehow. But otherwise...Kinda saw his conclusion coming ya know
Doakes wasn't bad at all..even Dexter noticed It. I actually believe he wanted to help out Dexter when he knew the reasoning of what he was doing. He wouldn't obviously let him free because he's a criminal after all, but there ended up being some kind of conection. You know, touch brings affection.

Doakes was so legit.I would root for Daokes when he came close,but Dexter when he gets away with it.I liked him as much as Dexter.OK OK they should have him wake up in a hospital the side of his head burned up,but with no memory.He gradually starts to have a natural suspicion of Dexter but doen't put it all together again.That would be epic.
Holding Hulk-sized Doakes captive without handcuffs in this cage with very fragile looking chicken fence was one of the most incomprehensible things Dexter has ever done.

doakes was a great character. militant and hard-nose-to-the grind type by-the-book guy. he was just doing his job and landed in a fly-trap with no way out. the one thing that was never truly revealed was that there were some past shady dealings when doakes was in some covert military ops. so doakes also had some dirt on himself. but bottom line, he killed people for a reason too, and both of them could've came to some sort of uncommon ground. uncommon because, well, you know, shit ain't normal.
Doakes never hated Dexter. He was worried, and didn't know how to show it. Notice how when he is caged he seems happy to help Dexter turn himself in? It's to get him help for his problems.
I looooved this scene! Good choice. Funny I liked Doakes best at the end. Most of the rest of the show I wanted to smack him. The back and forth between them during this scene and others was the best they shared the whole season.

Dexter should have come clean with all of it to Doakes, Imagine how the relationship would be if Doakes was still alive and knew about Dexters mom, his dad, who his brother is and how Dexter takes out the trash. (that scene would have been some epic acting by both actors)

Doakes was a great character.I liked that it was established from day 1 that Doakes senses something fishy about Dexter.He didn't feel like an antagonist at all, he sort of understood Dexter in the end.A worthy rival.
One of the things I liked abouit that season, was the chemistry between these two. I too miss Doakes; 'Surprise Muthafuka!' totally made me jump. Excellent work from these two.
this was such a great scene. whats sad is that dexter didnt intend to ever kill him. even if doakes was always like, hot on dex's trail, I think deeply they could've had one of the most deepest friendships on the task force, despite doakes knowing dexter was the bay harbor butcher lol...
Think of how bad ass it would have been if Doakes found the people and Dex finished them off. Aside from Dexter Doakes was the best character for this show. If not they should have played on Doakes digging in Dexters past

Doakes kept showing up out of nowhere, I felt frustrated for Dexter, but it was funny too. I miss his character now; he made good scenes. I figured one alternate resolution would be that Doakes would come to respect Dexter and help to pin the blame on someone else. Somehow. But otherwise...Kinda saw his conclusion coming ya know

Doakes wasn't bad at all..even Dexter noticed It. I actually believe he wanted to help out Dexter when he knew the reasoning of what he was doing. He wouldn't obviously let him free because he's a criminal after all, but there ended up being some kind of conection. You know, touch brings affection.

Doakes was so legit.I would root for Daokes when he came close,but Dexter when he gets away with it.I liked him as much as Dexter.OK OK they should have him wake up in a hospital the side of his head burned up,but with no memory.He gradually starts to have a natural suspicion of Dexter but doen't put it all together again.That would be epic.

@TalixVK I think the guy has some merit in his rebuttal. 5 seasons, 12 episodes, 50 minute runtime average = almost 12 hours of time spent watching. If you're really doing all of that, you would need to study a whole lot. Nobody becomes a doctor by simply being naturally "intelligent." Unless you had a week off from studying or decided you wouldn't, I doubt you are what you say you are. Just like all the other kids on the internet. I know people in med school, Harvard even. You know nothing.

doakes was a great character. militant and hard-nose-to-the grind type by-the-book guy. he was just doing his job and landed in a fly-trap with no way out. the one thing that was never truly revealed was that there were some past shady dealings when doakes was in some covert military ops. so doakes also had some dirt on himself. but bottom line, he killed people for a reason too, and both of them could've came to some sort of uncommon ground. uncommon because, well, you know, shit ain't normal.

Depression is an illness. The line "kill myself, no that's pathetic" is irresponsible. People who want to kill themselves don't really want to kill themselves, but they are being "controlled" against their will, and have to fight with every ounce not to do it. The "That's pathetic" line tells these people (who are ill) that what they are feeling is their own fault, and that they feel this way because they are weak (when that is not the case). It's like saying "you have cancer? How pathetic".

Dexter should have come clean with all of it to Doakes, Imagine how the relationship would be if Doakes was still alive and knew about Dexters mom, his dad, who his brother is and how Dexter takes out the trash. (that scene would have been some epic acting by both actors)

Doakes was a great character.I liked that it was established from day 1 that Doakes senses something fishy about Dexter.He didn't feel like an antagonist at all, he sort of understood Dexter in the end.A worthy rival.

he was such a great character, Dexter is the great white shark and doakes was the Brody guy.
doakes was the only one who came close to dexter. His main problem with dexter was that doakes was really just being a real cop.
to bad doakes and dexter could not be friends, it would have made the show a little bit cliche. :(
