  • Same thing just happened to me.

  • We keep a basket of partially used batteries that we use for low-tech devices as we need them. Since we've gotten rechargable batteries, we've been using our partially used alkalines less, and as such many of the batteries have been there for years.

Duracells are the ONLY batteries that have leaked in that basket. We have a mix of batteries from Energizer, Rayovac, Zenith, Mallory, etc. that have been there for years, and none have ever leaked - only the Duracells! I will be buying no more.

  • We were moving this year so we got a old tv and one of the energizers in the remote

    leaked!

  • The thing is, they will definitely compensate you for the replacement cost of ANY item damaged by a leaking battery. Walgreens will not. Also, last I knew, Duracell and Energizer were made by the same company. All batteries can leak regardless of manufacturer; personally, I've only seen store-brand batteries leak, and a few Energizers.

  • i had the same problem this week

  • I agree totally. In the past year or two Duracell batteries started to leak.

I am really disappointed in this company and switching to other brands.

  • Things can go wrong, but Duracell will definitely compensate you for your leaked batteries and also compensate for damaged equipment (if leaking batteries are the cause for the damage). Give them a chance and phone their customer service.

I got fully compensated without any hassles (3D Maglite torch).

  • Yes, to be fair, Duracell gave me a coupon once as compensation for leaky batteries. But after having a bunch of their batteries leak, which is more than "things going wrong"-that's a QC or production issue, why bother making phone calls and waiting for coupons in the mail? It's easy enough to vote with your wallet. I buy Walgreen's brand (Energizer?) instead and don't have the hassle. And I don't worry about damaged equipment anymore. Capitalism and competition to the rescue!

  • Duracell is just bad, I wish I could sue them for their faulty batteries. I baught a package, when I got home and put them away, the next day, batteries were leaking in the pack.
