One thing I've noticed with Russians in dealing with old munitions. They are complete "clods". Just like they were sent to clear minefields on orders from their Kommisars. I guess wars are won on stupidity forced upon them by masters? God Help Us!
Just a few yeas ago, they discvered an FW190-D , and a Stuka in the Ukraine. A few years a go they discovered a hugh cache of Gernaman ammunition in a isolated forest in France.
There was a society that wuld go to the Ardennes and find battle fields untouched. But there were a lot of booby traps.
I think the Pacific is timming with wrecks, but they are hard to get to and get expensive to retrive.
Most goverments in the Pacific forbid retrieval of war relics.
Good job with the recovery. I hope they'll restore it to running order, even if they'll have to replace some elements or even the whole engine. But hey, it's a Russian vehicle. They don't break down unless someone damages them deliberately.
It's amazing all the war wrecks that are still hidden away from the scrappeers. They burn't all the Jap aircraft, deatroyed all the german aircraft, and cleaned up all the tanks in Europe. Just think all that valuable history destroyed by a blowtorch. They shoud have at least saved a few of each !
But in eastern Europe I think, because of the dense forest, and numerous lakes , there is still plenty of stuff to find. Just like in the isolated areas of the Pacific !
@destroyer1ism same here in Norway ;germany had over 400 000 men here in May 45, all the tanks and airplanes where melted for the metal, all the guns was used for hunting moose later do.
@Ratti666 Try the USSR, Ratti. Oh...and try watching a Russian-made WW2 movie and you'll see more vintage WW2 Russian tanks and assault guns than you've ever seen in your life. Many remain the the USSR. The problem is no such Russian movies are on US TV. Try youtube. I've seen many Russian made WW2 movies on here and they have many KV1's in them. So many in fact that they actually blow some up. That tells you they have many to spare.
Actually it was on a raft being transported across the river. The raft took an artillery hit and sank with the tank still on it. The crew had time to escape.

@Ratti666 Because there is only 1 running Tiger on display in the West and two running Panthers. They are extremely rare.
