@jonesyop Rugby is nowhere near as crazy as American Football. I was born in Germany and have played both. In Rugby guys are MUCH smaller, because it's a sport that emphasizes conditioning. In American Football the guys are way fucking bigger, and the pads are made to protect vital organs, but they enable you to hit even harder with say the shoulder pads. You don't have 300+ lb guys who can flat out run and cream people playing Rugby. Hits are way harder in AF, coming fromsomeone who played both

Lambert was a great player, but if you compare the hits of the two guys, Lynch fucking creamed people. Deserves to be MUCH higher on the list, top 5.

Ronnie Lott, Jack Tatum, Night Train Lane, are the top of the list for safeties and Cornerbacks after that theres a bunch of guys you can put in any order like Steve Atwater, Chuck Cecil, John Lynch, Rodney Harrison, Dennis Smith and a few others not including linebackers

Would you rather be hit by Hardy Brown or Dick Lane, or Raw Lewis? I don't think there is one person who would choose to be hit by Raw Lewis instead of Hardy Brown or Night Train... Night Train was a hard hitter, but he gets rated a bit too high because he was a dangerous and cheap tackler more than anything.

I'd put Lewis and Lawrence Taylor in the same category as well, they could hit just as hard, but Cecil was more dangerous because of the way he launched with his helmet like it was a missle. By the way he wasn't run out of the NFL really, he had to retire because of constantly getting concussions. It was specifically because of his dangerous way of tackling.
