@Anaman536 the reason why this happens is because the newest version of itunes goes into your normal Host file and whenever it opens, it un hashes the Itunes gs file, the 107.1 (whateveR) apple GS server is the one that needs to stay hashed, And whenever itunes is opened, it automatically hashes it. With Tinyumbrellas host file, apple cant touch it, so it just reads it, and allows you to downgrade :)

@jobsbee you need to activate you phone. the easiest way to do this is to get redsnow 0.9.10b1 and click jailbreak. After you enter the DFU mode and the redsn0w prompts you with "What do you want me to add??" or whatever, click add cydia, and click de-activate. After doing this go on to itunes, and your phone will now have service again.
If not, your going to have to hacktivate your iphone, which will probably make you have to use the ipad baseband. Which isnt good.

HI, I have the following problem: -iOS 5.0 -I have 6.15.00 -NO SHSH blobs when I start the 3GS the icons are dim and showing the loading bar under each of them. @UrWorstNightmare181 No, SHSH blobs are separate from the firmware files. The IPSW'S are firmware files. SHSH blobs are files that you need in order to downgrade your device.
Hey lizards, I dont have shsh blobs, because I didnt save them ( i know i messed up). Basically I have a paper weight for an iphone. @gabepunk1 There are two options. The iPhone 3GS can downgrade to iOS 4.1 without SHSH blobs, or you can remove the IP addresses from the hosts file and restore back to iOS 5.0.1.

Yo dude, i upgraded to ios 5.01 thinking untethered was out, but it wasn't.
i tried to downgrade it, getting my 4.3.3 ios from a website, then tried to restore it, but it said error 3194 unknown error, so then i got tiny umbrella and changing the hosts file. Now i got past the "extracting software" and no error 3194. Now it said error 2005 unknown error, like right after it is extracting sofware finished.

then you need to install itunes 10.4.1. then put you device in DFU mode and restore it to 4.3.3 with tiny umbrella hope it works because it worked for me.

I'm still getting error 2005 , I've tried using the cable which came with my iPod Touch , iPhone 4 , iPhone 3GS but I'm still getting the error . I've also downgraded my itunes to version 10.4.1 and started tiny umbrella tss server .

@annilator071998 This is so far the only way to fix it. If you have SHSH blobs, and you still can't get it to work, then it won't.

Yo dude, i upgraded to ios 5.01 thinking untethered was out, but it wasn't.
i tried to downgrade it, getting my 4.3.3 ios from a website, then tried to restore it, but it said error 3194 unknown error, so then i got tiny umbrella and changing the hosts file. Now i got past the "extracting software" and no error 3194. Now it said error 2005 unknown error, like right after it is extracting sofware finished.

In my case, cydia does have my SHSH blobs only for IOS 4.1,4.2.1, and 4.3.
Does this mean that there is no way for me to upgrade my device to 5.0.1 ?

@VIPER1344 SHSH Blobs only deal with downgrading, not upgrading. You can downgrade to any firmware you have SHSH blobs for.

iTunes
Bonjour
Apple mobile device
Apple application support
Apple softeware update
Quick Time
then you need to install itunes 10.4.1. then put you device in DFU mode and restore it to 4.3.3 with tiny umbrella hope it works because it worked for me.

so downgraded my ipod yesterday from i.o.s 5.0.1 to 4.2.1 nd it only gave me the error 2005 twice in dfu mode then it just some how worked .. Now im trying to downgrade my moms ipod from i.o.s 4.3.4 to 4.2.1 nd when i try to downgrade it in recovery mode it gives me error 20 nd when i try to downgrade it dfu mode it gives me error 2005 nd yes ive disable my firewalls i have my shsh files i even tryed different usb slots still gives me the errors like i said it worked perfectly yesterday HELP!
