  • Another Left-Wing Jew heading up TIME. Their masthead is dominated by Left-Wing Jews, so Stengel being named managing editor shouldn't come as a surprise.

  • The democrats are going to spend the next 2 years making accusations and playing politics with the supeona power. Come back in November 2008 and watch this again.

  • Because of the Bush administration's incredible abuses of power, of course the Democrats need to investigate. That's what we elected them for.

  • Any journalist who claims that the Americans voters don't want congress to do investigations ought to be fired immediately. He's certainly not investigating anything. It's the role of congress to investigate and to legislate! Can he not chew gum and walk at the same time?

  • Why does Chris Matthews even care? He doesn't even really believe in the Constitution--- Congressman Ron Paul said something about the Constitution in the debate last week and Matthews laughed at him. Go Ron Paul 2008!

  • So this isn't about obstruction of justice or lying to Congress--because, after all, that's been situation normal for BushCo--it's just about . . . WHAT, then?

  • Emit mordent chuckles as you watch our compromised celebrity press core laugh in your face.

Pat Healy did seem to be serious and honest, but sadly, he said the least.

  • I agree in essence, but Pat Healy of the NYT may be "MSM" but he isn't a pundit. He's very rarely on these types of shows, and he's among NYT's best political reporters (don't believe me? check out his resume chock full of articles damaging to the Administration and Republicans in general).

  • Rove = Daniel in The Omen.

  • The silly American public? Let them eat cake!

  • The media whores suckle on Karl Rove's teat.

  • Americans overwhelmingly support a congressional investigation into White House involvement in the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, and they say President Bush and his aides should answer questions about it without invoking executive privilege.

In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Friday-Sunday, respondents said by nearly 3-to-1 that Congress should issue subpoenas to force White House officials to testify. That's what the voters want to see.

  • these people are so stupid - talk about a right wing media bias, they are so bad

  • These palace courtiers and sycophants to power just don't *get* it. "Ha, ha, ha, chuckle, chuckle. It's so CUTE when the White House, Rove and Gonzales transform the Federal prosecutory system into their own partisen attack dogs. Tee hee!" Corrupt, pathetic, blow-dried losers. Really, they're beneath contempt of they don't get it. Corruption is b-a-a-a-d!

  • Dude. Forgot to take yr meds again.

  • Appalling, vacuous, schoolyard-level bullshit. These smarmy, facile toads deserve whatever indictments for aiding and abetting this criminal administration come their way.

  • Throw ALL the bastards out -- in the media elite. They are sycophants to power. They care nothing about our democracy. They only care about their comfortable, secure positions in Washington. Each and every reporter in this video deserves a come-uppance. I will cheer it when it happens, because it will.

  • God what a bunch of airheads. How on earth can anyone take Chris Matthews and his fellow "pundits" seriously?

  • You know, I have had one question through this entire Attorney thing: SO THE FUCK WHAT?!?! Why the hell do I care if stupid Bush fired some freaking lawyers, even if it was for partisan reasons? Right! I FUCKING DON'T YOU MORONS!!! STFU Already!!!

  • So you don't care if they were fired because they were investigating corruption? If your answer is still No, then you must like getting screwed!!!

  • 14. Do you think Congress should -- or should not -- investigate the involvement of White House officials in this matter?

    Yes, should - 72%; No, should not - 21%

  • These pundits are really their own class now. They live in a bubble, just like Bush, and they don't like reality to penetrate it.

  • politic is ugly...and fun.

  • why is it such a big deal when bush sacks 40 something judges when clinton fired ninety something?

  • By wolfeair: Bush fired nearly all of the US Atorneys when his first term began (just as Clinton did) as Karl Rove admitted today. Clinton did not fire USAs midterm and only 5 USAs have been fired midterm in the last 25 years!!! And they were all for crimes committed by the USAs! Duncan Hunter is a lying sack of shit!

  • It is customary for incoming Presidents of a new party to ask for the resignations of the USAs. Reagan, Bush I and Bush II all did, as did Clinton. These firings were for blatant political grounds, for prosecutors who were insufficiently zealous in persuing Dems or were too eager to go after Repubs. Does this not disturb you? Not to mention the fact that Alberto Gonzalez baldly lied to Congress about it.

  • anytime dem's are on the short end...it's a scandal?

fact, these atty's were POLITICAL appointees, serving at the PLEASURE of the Pres....

He was well within the law, and outside of SCANDAL to fire them for ANY reason!

    grow up fkn whinney libs

    whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • Hey! Chris! I know more than these guys. If I send you my resume, can I be on next Sunday? Guaranteed, I'll be more informative.

  • I think you meant to say right wing, and Republicans. If you actually pay attention, a majority of the Democrats who were elected were very moderate. They resemble republicans of the 60's and 70's.

It is time to wake up, and stop blaming liberals for everything. You like highways with no pot holes, meat that isn't contaminated, books in the school, ss to retire, medicare to take care of you when you get old, then blame liberals for that.

  • Well said cmillholland!! This is just more proof of what they are really about. What happened to getting Tough on Crime???

We want Phil Donahue back!!!! They took him off despite having the best rating on for the station!!! And now we are stuck with these fake idiots!

  • Amen, Phil Donahue was an American hero, swifboated so people like these can spew propoganda for the right.

  • This is why I dont watch the Sunday shows anymore - these pundits know less than I do! Even I know this is the worst administration in the history of the United States, and NO, Mr. Mathews, Alberto Gonzalez is NOT a sympathetic figure, unless you are a bozo who hasn't followed the news.

  • The result of millionaire pundits who would rather spin soap opera stories than do real reporting or discuss issues that matter to the republic. Here we have the leading pundit on MSNBC, the editor of the leading news magazine, the national political correspondent of a network news organization, and a political reporter for the newspaper of record examining what is in essence a constitutional crisis, laughing like monkeys and flinging excrement at their on-lookers. The people have no shame.

  • This administration and the swiftboating media know no shame. Reporting like this is how we got into a constitutional crisis. They should be held responsible for the what is going on in this country. We are shamed to the world. No longer honored throughout the world. We should all feel shame.

  • How is the political tampering of our Justice System not an important issue? The three branches of Government are designed for checks and balances. Lucky for Bush he didn't have to deal with that for the past 6 years because the Democratic votes literally didn't count. Bottom line is the Justice System decides whether or not laws are Constitutional, it is no wonder the current administration would like to have them on board as they take our freedoms away from us.

  • do these pundits know ANYTHING? ummm no....

the republicans are involved in scandal after scandal and the democratic party is at fault for calling them out on it... typical rhetoric my the MSM

  • Chris Mattspews.

Now there is a screaming credible source!

If you want Carl Rove, you better hurry!

Only have about a year and a half!

  • Matthews is a lib, but leftism is a sliding scale, and no matter how left you think you are, another moonbat jumps out who is farther left than you would ever be. the average liberal of ten years ago, is nowhere NEAR the nutjob left that CONTROLS the demoncats these days.

  • I like how accountability is turned into politics. We want "CHECKS AND BALANCE," not divide and conquer. Sheesh. And the American people do know Karl Rove...And it makes us feel powerless.

  • Man, these fuckers are totally clueless.

  • The MSM are a disgrace to this country and to this world. If I was running the MSM I'd sack the whole lot of them. They could be replaced with well trained monkeys, they are so lacking in imagination and intelligence. They talk like programmed idiots. They truly disgust me in their contempt for each and every one of us.

  • Didn't Bill Clinton get questioned when he broke the law? What's the issue here? IT doesn't matter if the government lies to us?! The media seems to embrace this, it's kind of disturbing, they won't be happy until they are government funded and can't choose their own stories.

  • Sad day for America. Watching these but suckers makes you want to throw up dinner. I can't believe they think this is good. I used to watch Chris, I think I will definitely scan for something else. They are talking while I type, amazing. Is this what they really think? Democrats (Americans) yes, we want some accountability. Sad fact is they will all end up in jail. Purgery ain't nothing, compared to what they have done to this country. We voted! We have spoken,

  • All excellent comments here.

If you ever talk to any of the beltway elite, you'll find that they're completely out of touch with what life is like for real Americans.

  • i know what would make a great tv show. why don't the networks put a number of so called journalists on the hot seat; let regular americans ask them about their actions or lack there of when it comes to asking tough questions of politicians. i have seen paula zahn say that rev falwell was a friend of hers on air! is that so...well that right there tells me she's not gonna ask him any hard questions. what a sham...what a total sham. we are not well served by these journalists at all.

  • unfortunately everyone, matthews and this group of so called journalist cronies never get to see these comments. then offer their opinions and really don't give a shit about what the people think(it's their ego and ratings that really count). mr. matthews if i am wrong on both counts...let's hear from you!

  • I had no clue what a circle jerk looked like until now! The last time I checked, firing people in your own party for political reasons is unethical; and, lying to congress is a crime!

He gets no sympathy because he's Latino! If the Repubicans try to play the race card in this issue, it will make them look worse. Its a shame when a panel at a comedy show know more about politics then a panel of journalist.

Chris Matthews is a liberal? hahahahaha!

  • Absolutely GODDAMN revolting! Everyone of these water-carrying "journalists" spouting Karl Rove's talking points that "Americans don't want investigations" (ie. forget the 2006 elections, American, they never happened), have the gall to hold positions that should be ADVERSARIAL to Karl Rove, George Bush, and Dick Cheney!! The American people have overwhelmingly made clear that YES, GODDAMNIT! INVESTIGATE BUSH, CHENEY, ROVE AND THE MACHINE THAT HAS BOGGED THIS COUNTRY DOWN IN IRAQ!

  • None of these douchebags want their invitations revoked at the fanciest Georgetown soirees. These well scrubbed schmucks are a disgrace to journalism.

  • These people are souless. To them this is just a "Well that's politics" scandal. Using the aparatus of the state to push prosecutions on your oposition party and to avoid it on your own is a scary level of corruption. It reeks of facism...and these people find it funny.

  • erik28com has it exactly right. USAs have the power to take away one's liberty and property. They can't be used as a political cudgel in a game of "tit for tat". These clowns think that political gamesmanship is more important that the rule of law. Even worse, they think it's funny that anyone would think otherwise.

  • If they trash Gonzales it will backfire against the Dems because he's Latino? Wow, Matthews really thinks people are cool with the Attorney General saying 'habes corpus' doesn't exist in the Constitution, but they'll be pissed about attacking because of his race?

These guys really have no idea what they are talking about...

  • My Ass Chris and Friends. I and all the people I know want the Democrats to go after Rove. Its called accountability, a term lost on most Republicans. As usually the MSM shows that they are out of touch with the common voter by spinning the issue and talking crap. Go Democrats, get Rove and all the other crooks, but make sure you get them!

  • Everything that's wrong with the beltway elite. They are actually incapable of rising above their cynicism to see a real scandal being investigated because it's actually disturbing and wrong. Everything is just a game to them, petty revenge, tit for tat. Pathetic.

  • They make sentences, but they cannot understand issues. We have a lawless administration that threaten the republic. Yet the "journalists" show how clever they are with Darth Vader metaphors for how Karl Rove scares Democrats. They prattle about "strategy" as though it matters. Who cares what the Dems strategy might be?! Investigate the criminals running the country! The talking heads are silly and irrelevant, and not funny or cute.
