Thanks for your comment - I didnt actually fight in WW2 - I was conscripted just after the war ended and spent a few of my younger, formative years in Germany. I lived with my girlfriend - her father was a POW in Russia - he returned in 1949 and found his little girl living with the 'enemy' - me! We became good friends eventaully. I have looked for our house in Duesseldorf on Google Earth but it is gone. Only the memories remain but it was a good time in my life inspite of the war! Mach's gut!
Dear Eddie123e, I dont know why some Comments in your profil are so disgusting. To you an 82 years old man, fighting against Germany for our freedom, and make shur 1949 as a soldier in Düsseldorf, that democracie would be etablished. And when you sung with the Germans there, as an 18year old joung man, what the bloody hell anyone should have against that? For instance I have been 1949, 7 years old German boy and without man like you, I doubt that I would have had a good life, like I didt.

I hope Hanne Berger left on good terms, because she always seemed completely into the spirit of it. For the rest of the Orchestra, you can hear from the music that they're having a lot of fun. For Hanne, you can see it in her face as well.
I strongly recoomend the original by Rudi Schuricke, there is only one "Capri Fischer" a hit already in the fourties until Italy changed the fronts and a hit again in the fifties for all Germans who spent their holidays in Italy again
@gerdilein14 Thank you for your E mail. First time in my life I heard this song in W. Fassbinder's movie LOLA. Unforgettable and Lola and song. I wish you the best and good time. Bye

Maybe because one of the comments suggests that Eddie is something amounting to a Holocaust denier / Hitler apologist?
Just a guess, though...

Great schtuff! Reminiscent of the style of Jonathan and Darlene Edwards. Anyone who understands that there can be humor in musik will love this.....

the 1942 version by Rudi Schuricke is wonderful; but the 1972 version is awful!

Damit würden Max Raabe & Palast Orchester glatt den 1. Platz beim Eurovision Song Contest gewinnen... :-)

Love this group however has Cecilia Crisafulli left the group? I like her.
Rhodes130 2 years ago
She hasn't left, she is the new one because Hanne Berger the lady that plays the violine in the video has left the orchestra in march 2007.
