I have the Verizon Network extender because in my area verizon and alltel phones switch from little carrier that has shitty service to alltel towers that are in a different town. drains the battery so fast cant make a call or get one or send texts. I like it tho we had to bump dsl up to be able u talk on the phone and use the internet the sametime with out it interfering with the call. Just wish i woulda waited to get the 3G one from verizon. now allte/at&t ppl have 0 service in my town.
I cannot get my micocell to fully activate. I've been messing with it for a week now and even called customer service. I don't get it! My router is showing that the microcell has a valid IP and MAC address and there is absolutely no reason this device shouldn't be working properly.
The AT&T 3G microcell is absolutely worthless. We've had nothing but problems with ours for six months now - ever since the nationwide launch. Anyone considering buying one should visit 3gmicrocellsucks [dot] com to learn about the many ways this device can fail.
I have ATT wireless that doesn't work at home, but for $20 I get unlimited calls with Vonage. Don't have to pay att $150 and extra monthly for this! Another ATT Scam to make you pay for their lousy coverage.

This is a great device. By providing 5 bars of coverage you get the max battery life on your phone. You also get better coverage and thats important. Not everyone can get the best coverage. Some reasons are you live in near a protected wetland, or state park. You live near a military base or NSA and they mess with cell signals. Sometimes you may need to take this with you to different cities and you don't have to pay roaming.
i just got one of my own and the 3G have been flashing for like over an hour how long should it take? is said like 90 minutes but idk if im doing something wrong or not any tips?
My area is test market. I live outside of Buffalo and frequently get Canada's Rogers Wireless from inside my house, across a 20 mi width Lake Erie. The AT&T tower is less than a mile away but i dont get much of their reception. I have to call in EVERY month to remove these roaming charges for when im in the US.
This thing is awesome!
The entire experience was great and the customer service was great in assisting with it.
very cool to see one of these in action! I live in San Francisco where service is notoriously spotty and hope to have this available in my area soon. To those insisting that bad service is at&t's fault and that we should not have to pay extra to use our phones at home. All i can say is that I had the same exact quality of service in my apartment with t-mobile and I will happily pay for this device in order to use my iphone at home.
ok lets be clear people.. this is not a rip off.. this is a free service.. you only have to pay 15 dollars per month if you want unlimited minutes...otherwise your calls count against your minutes. But you still get full signal.. or if you want to pay 15 bucks, you can talk all you want and it doesn't count against your regular cell minutes.. then when you leave the house it automatically transfers onto att network and then counts toward your minutes. so pretty cool
@xzeroXsmash this is coverage in the house, most providers will not guaranteed service in your house. My girlfriend verizon coverage had the same issue
What are you talking about, you don't think AT&T is the only one to do this? No infact Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile had theirs released, whats cool about AT&T's is they have a unlimited plan when you use it, also does 3G.
Great video. I don't think my area will be a test market anytime soon. As far as cost, I do tend to agree with some that complain about paying for AT&T spotty service. However, I do think the Microcell is useful, like the Airwave, in an indoor office environment.
that is not worth it... u are paying extra money just to get good signal in ur area! i think thats the companys fault and should fix it now make u buy something extra... but thats how business works!
The iPhone case I have on in the video is the Griffin Elan Form since so many have been asking. Also, to clear up things on the Microcell. This is ideal for a few things.
1) People with crappy cell phone coverage at home (like me). It boosts coverage from 1 bar to 5 and allows me to go VOIP.
2) You DO NOT have to pay a monthly fee. The fee is ONLY if you don't want to use your cell minutes when connected to the Microcell. However if you want to ditch your home phone paying $15-$30 is cheaper.
i forgot an you have to have broadband internet, i bet Att wants them to use there dsl too, that would be like 100 bucks a month just for cell phone coverage.
so they charge you 40 bucks for cell coverage that doesnt work and your paying an extra 15 a month and you have to buy the equipment? why dont they just shove a broom put peoples asses. Why would you even talk about something like this.
i agree this seems mental to me, you are being charged because they have crappy coverage in your area?? and you pay extra a month for it??? they should send everyone with crappy coverage one for free ffs...this is MAD
It's pretty clearly stated that you can use it for free. The only time you pay is to get UNLIMITED voice within your home, so if you're at home/work a lot, you can get a cheap plan with barely any minutes and chatter endlessly at home.

you should use the speedtest app to see how much better the signal is

wow att makes u pay a monthly plan for this. Cus u know its our fault they have bad coverage.

@21durres actually you don't have to pay a monthly plan unless you want unlimited calls via microcell. otherwise, you just use your regular plan.

Do you have to pay the $15 a month for the unlimited minutes thing? or can you just pay nothing and use the minutes you have on your plan?
elckicker 1 year ago
@elckicker - I think its a $20 unlimited minutes plan - Without the plan you just get a better signal at home

Is there any monthly fee to use this?

Is it true they charge you for minutes on the microcell? Even though it is using YOUR bandwidth?

@maskedscientist I mean, as of now, I heard it recently changed and they now charge for microcell minutes.

150 dollars to fix the service you already pay for? No, thank you. These should be provided for free when you sign a contract.
