Wow, that was the least informative ad I've ever seen. How incredibly presumptuous to assume that I'm already familiar with Orkut. This ad does succeed in making me think that Orkut must be another "so user friendly you can't freakin' figure out how to use it" type service or site or whatever it is. And I'm a Google fan, so I'm not predisposed to bash Google.

I AM DISAPPOINTED IN ORKUT. THREE YEARS AGO ORKUT / GOOGLE CANCEL MY ACCOUNT. They NEVER said WHY. NEVER REPONDED. Even to tell me where I could have mistaken. I was offered a FREE service like a scientist. I´m 50 years old. Canceled all my communities and people participating say they are being coordinated by others. Brazil is the largest user of Orkut.. Something is wrong. Remember Microsoft. Lack of human contact for troubleshooting problems that seem simple. Unfortunate that.

Google should use some professional for designing the UI for Orkut. The current UI looks like it was developed by a 3rd grader. Don't be surprised if all its users migrate to Facebook.

I agree with you. I am a frequent orkut user with 555 friends. but the UI is pretty bad. The community function is sooo useless. there is no way you could get to know what is happening in the communities you joined unless you click on each one and get to their page. Its non sense. True, facebook is faster and better. I am a Google fan, but fact is fact.

It is NOT fast. It is NOT simpler. The menus that used to be easily accessible are now hidden. Things take forever to load. Therere bugs everywhere, like the time when someone last posted something on a community not being updated properly, or the # of scraps one has (old issue, I know, but it shouldve been fixed by now), to mention only a couple of issues. Orkut is trying to copy Facebook, but it is not being successful. Keep it simple guys! Don't try to make it too fancy, itll just ruin it!

I love Orkut, it's better than facebook and easier to navigate compared to myspace. So it's not in the U.S.? who cares, not everything has to be in the U.S. to be worth it, the rest of the world deos exist. Orkut has definately made an impact with me. and I've always invited friend to join this social network.

I'm a huge google fan but can honestly say I'm not a fan of orkut... I made an account but never go on it... not many people in the U.S even know about this. Just simple things like "i" not being capitalized turned me away. Sorry Google... this is like the ONE product that I don't use daily.

I understand why they are pushing okurt, if you sign up then you get your friends to sign up and then Google gets more market share, and therefore can charge more for ad space.

Simple business really, but the problem is okurt sucks. The only reason I go to myspace & facebook is to stay in contact with old freinds and play mafia wars. Google just got into the social network game to late and then had a horrible name that wouldnt sell at all, its a shame I love Google, but oh well!
