BEAUTIFUL !... The only problem with Zimerman is that if you want to have him playing in your country or town, he only comes with his OWN grand piano... Imagine if you live in the Pitcairn Islands...
This is the most perfect version I've ever heard of this song. Played at the perfect tempo. All the others who play it too fast just sound awful. This isn't a dance!
I actually think I'm gonna cry. I only just started working on this piece yesterday, i've put in about 10 hours already, feel like i'm getting no where... my self-esteem = negative figures :(
@Praptolium Nah, keep it up. You're not getting nowhere. It's not easy to play. The expression is very difficult in a number of parts. Keep trying! You'll get it, eventually!
@jeewizzzz That's also how it makes me feel. I've had a stressful day, and it's nice to listen to something so beautiful as this is. But it makes me sad in a way, too.
My piano teacher played this wonder today (not as perfectly as Zimerman), I couldn't concentrate on anything while she was playing. Today I've remembered why I wanted to play the piano.
This song is deeply genuine, it's just supreme pleasure.
Whenever I play this I occasionally get my fingers caught when playing the broken chords at the beginning and some notes are lost in it and don't sound whereas you can here each individual note when Zimerman plays so hats off to him!

Sencillamente asombroso...

songs like this sometimes literally make me whish i was around during the times of the composer. i want to know what goes throught their heads when they make art like this.
@markcommadore "At last! 18 years after a friend at school used to play this I find out what it was and can enjoy it once again." it's a nice starting point for a novel...

It was just last friday, a few days ago and guess what, I got 1ST PLACE! Even though I'm done with it, I still play it everyday so I won't FORGET! It brings really great memories too ;) I LOVE SHUBERT!
@1004Cookie Ah, I'm jealous. I learned No. 2 when I was 9-years old and I wish I learned No. 4 instead. Personally I never found No. 2 very engaging or interesting at all. I always preferred No. 3 and 4.
i guess i love this piece so much because of zimmerman. he plays it so well.
i'm trying to learn this piece and i already know everything but not the trio. i'm still learning and it's so fucking hard. but that's not gonna make me giveup. i think i've never played such a beautiful piece.
and zimmerman, you're the best pianist in the world, better than brendel better than horowitz better than everyone.
Zimerman is amazing. My friend is playing this,( she is 11), and I am falling in love with it more and more every time she plays it. I love how in the middle before the slow section it builds up to such a triumph and then just dies away. The image that comes to me as i hear it is a flock of birds on a fall morning cooing and leaving the cold. The best of the best impromptus:)

It may sound pretentious but the soul and spirit of Schubert is just here, in the hands of Zimerman, not elsewhere. Zimerman is not only a great pianist, but a real musician. It is said that in the middle of a rehearsal in New York, made a scene because one of the cello players wanted to take a break when the work was just beginning to bear fruit.
Little stories like this are available in the blog La belleza de escuchar, where I am embedding right now this amazing video. Thank you, Sissco.
The truly great thing about Schuberts pieces for piano is: You can't really tell if they're supposed to be sad or jolly, it's like a dur-moll-hybrid (at least to me)
Excelente.
I saw this absolutely amazing pianist play in Los Angeles last year. He said he was never coming back to the US because we're a nation of hateful, unfair, war-mongers. I could not disagree. He's god-like in person. No American could possibly come close to his talent. Our culture is so misdirected. Everyone I know would rather play war games on television than go to a Zimerman concert. Mamma Mia! Mahdonna! Bravissimo!
It's really sad that such talent is not appreciated by anyone but us in this country. I regret that he cannot overlook our political misgivings. Please don't lump us all together with the evil in this country.
It's really sad that such talent is not appreciated by anyone but us in this country. I regret that he cannot overlook our political misgivings. Please don't lump us all together with the evil in this country.
It is so hard to play this piece as soft as he does!! the tone is so fluid and it sparkles!! i played this and my teacher hated my interpretation! she told me to listen to Zimerman and I can see why!!.
I first heard this song while i was reading the book The Nature of Music: Beauty, Sound and Healing (great book, i recommend it), and I completely forgot about all of the usual classical masterpieces that I listen to. This piece blew me away so much that now I have come to appreciate good music in general even more.
Just imagine what it must be like: Your technical abilities are beyond perfection. You can devote all your time and energy to interpretation and sheer beauty. Kristian Zimerman is one of those. I for one am very grateful that he shares his genius with us. His Chopin work is unprecedented. The Schubert impromptus are brilliant. Although, for the record let me say that Murray Perahia is at least equal to the task.
I have a very beautiful from the beginning of the song and listen to him(Zimerman), I have already cried. His performance there is clear, crystal clear sound of his sound is very much. I was goog at this work, I'm very embarrassed as a professional. He is a very beautiful memoly the tenor of up from the 64th to the small milestone at measure 47th. The trio played, although it plainly, it represented a unique passion for Schubert's I am very shoked. His playing has a shine like a diamond.
Zimerman is amazingly efficient in his finger movement. Sometimes, it just looks like he is wagging his hand slightly and yet he glides through difficult passages as if it was nothing. No wasted motion (except when he makes flourishes on big chords for visual/artistic purposes).
Sublime

Schubert hat uns sein Leben erzählt!!
tierzuchtZentral 1 month ago
@tierzuchtZentral Und wie
FilmComposeRaHoppe 1 month ago

i'm trying to learn this piece and i already know everything but not the trio. i'm still learning and it's so fucking hard. but that's not gonna make me giveup. i think i've never played such a beautiful piece.
and zimmerman, you're the best pianist in the world, better than brendel better than horowitz better than everyone.
you make this piece the best in all the times.

Splendid ! He reallly understands the Schubertian soul. Zimerman creates so many images and nuances, an unearthy atmosphere. Outstanding!

Sent this to sis for Schubert's birthday on Mon. She thought it was beautiful and melancoly; I think it's outrageously romantic.

The truly great thing about Schuberts pieces for piano is: You can't really tell if they're supposed to be sad or jolly, it's like a dur-moll-hybrid (at least to me)

Although, for the record let me say that Murray Perahia is at least equal to the task.

how can you not like this music?!?!?!?!?
Baharroth14 1 year ago
