  • Fuck off, nothing works!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hello nice vid. i have a question though. i connected everything right and i can hear the notes from reason in live. i even can use the build in keyboard in reason. (with the mouse) but when i try to use my midi-keyboard i cant hear anything. it works for reason standalone and for live standalone and as a rewire-host with the other channels. the only thing that dont work for my keyboard is the rewirechannel. i tried alot but i cant get it run. can someone help me out?

    Thank you

  • I just moved to using Ableton with reason, followed your steps. Have two instances of NN-XT. The issue is when I play the first instrument in the rack in reason, the midi seems to trigger all the instruments under it. why is my midi info being sent to all instruments on Reason? If I use an Ableton instrument and arm the track then only that one works. What am i setting up wrong?

  • they couldn't find the big arrow xD

  • can i just make the track in reason and than masterize it on abelton because i noticed that abelton has a lot bigger power of tracks it goes louder and cleaner.i need advices on how to make your track sound perfect as once is finished in reason.it sounds already great but it needs some pumping to add it a bit of edge like u hear in clubs.

I NEED THIS ANSWER ASAP PLEASE.Im despert to know how to make my tracks sound PROFESSIONAL

    THANKS FOR ANSWER

    RESPECT

  • @MrKdante I have mastered tracks in Reason. DON'T DO IT LOL... Use reason to make the musical aspects sound tight. Then bring them in individually into Ableton and do all the balancing and mastering there. Just make some music that has a good feel in Reason, and then in Ableton take care of mastering, balancing, mixing, etc.

  • I spotted a "bug" around 4 minutes ;-) When you bring in the hardware device as an overlay only the first 2 outputs are green and the rest is red. Meaning that those aren't available; so I have to assume that shot came from a different setup ;-)

  • Does anyone know if this process has changed at all in Ableton Live 8?

  • @brettgnz In Live 8 the procedure is still the same and works like a charm.

  • Spaceman, what is the next step to record the audio produced by Steps 1 and 2 to an Ableton 8 audio track?

    Thanks.

  • Thank you for doing this tutorial! This helped immensely!

  • i agree with hihihibadbad, ableton is much for useful for audio than reason. i use reason 4 most things, but i use ableton 7 for the vocals. Also if you rewire the two (reason is always the slave), anything you make in reason can be fiddled with more in ableton using its effects on top of reason's. Always useful to expand your arsenal if you want to make good music.

  • I am not an ableton user. I am trying to understand why you would want to use ableton or link the two programs together. I use Reason 3.0 and the work flow is simple enough. I've seen Reason 4.0 tutorials for it's sequencer and It is a wonderful sequencer compared to 3.0 which is fine to work with. Seems to me like overkill.

  • each person has their comfort zone for programs.... i've tried to tell a friend about reason, but he sticks with FL. I cant stand the FL gui so i have a hard time using it

  • There more to than the i lol

  • the problem with reason is that it cannot handle audio, only midi stuff

  • ok first off i am using ableton 7 lite...

i can run my reason4 on an audio track, and hear my selected reason song threw ableton.

however @ 1:09 when he simply sais double click on it to see the track, i can click till the cows come home, nada......

    anything atall would be apreciated,

    thanks

  • What am I doing wrong? I can't even get reason to appear in the 'Audio from' field.

I open Ableton live 7.0.3 first. I then proceed and open Reason 4. I make sure I create a 14:2 mixer in reason and also create any device I might want to use in Ableton.

That's what you do right? Thats what they show in every tutorial.

Any ideas why the most basic function of the rewire process is not working for me?

  • Just hazarding a guess here bud, but I'd say it's to do with you looking for reasons instruments in 'Audio from'. It's 'Midi from' you should be looking in. ReWire runs through Abletons midi channels. Hope this helped!

  • Unfortunately I have the same problem.

No matter if 'Audio from' or 'Midi from' it just don't appear...

  • Why do you need the 14:2 mixer in there if all the devices are going to the hardware interface?

  • Its al gore! lol

  • In case anyone else out there is using Live Lite or the M-Audio Enhanced Edition, External Instruments/Effects are not available in these versions, so you have to rewire by routing with one midi and one audio track for each Reason device

  • So how do u quantize midi data or what u have recorded

  • thanks! what is the best way to eq each drum channel from redrum to ableton?

  • It is sending audio through the External Instrument Effect : ) Bottom Chooser window in the Device itself. With Reason or external hardware it all passes through the track and External Instrument. In the Rewire format in this case it is automatic from the External Hardware Device in Reason.

  • do you know how to rewire ableton to fruity loops

  • you should be able to send audio out through the external instrument....
