    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    But—why’s the sea so warm?

  • so when did cartman from south park become an authority on climate

  • Dissolved CO2 makes acid.

By 2100, at current rates of increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, average ocean pH will drop 0.3 - 0.4 and be @ 7.8 with an increase in acidic H+ ion concentration of 150-200%.

That will cause a 50% DECREASE of ocean carbonate ions (CO3).

Carbonate ions are needed for growth by plankton & corals at the base of the ocean's food chain.

    Oops!!!

For info. on CO2 ocean acidification check:

  • Al Gore Pied Piper for the Carbon Credit Crusade

As for Al Gore, the former Vice President brings emotional fervor to his carbon crusade. He travels the country displaying charts and graphs, quoting scientific experts and appealing to philosophers and religious leaders to save the planet from global warming. But he says nothing about his business partners who yearn to trade on the emerging carbon market. And the media pay no attention to the companies offering carbon advisory services

  • 125,000 years ago a +2C rise in global temps. correlated with a 6-9 meter (25ft) rise in sea levels.

  • Sorry Marxist warm-mongers

The UN's climate science body has admitted that a claim made in its 2007 report - that Himalayan glaciers could melt away by 2035 - was unfounded.

The admission today followed a New Scientist article last week that revealed the source of the claim made in the 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was not peer-reviewed scientific literature but a media interview with a scientist conducted in 1999

    Liars, frauds & railroad conductors!

  • Hey JT,

up north here we can see it!

  • BTW, the new NASA GISS website is quite impressive.

If you wish to see it, google "Climate Change: Key Indicators"

And guess what? 11 of the last 12 years were the hottest in history since 1860.

  • The world has been coolnig sicne 2005. THe hottest year on record was 1948. Get a new themometer! THsi is my PhD area.

  • jon

You state that the hottest year on record was 1948. You don't mention if this was a local, regional, continental or global temp.

The warmest year on record in the continental U.S. is 1934. Of the 10 hottest (U.S.) years on record, 4 were in the 1930,s. The 2nd warmest is 1998, but, this was a cosequence of a strong El nino that year. Temps had stabalized since then, and as you correctly stated, temps have actually dropped since 2005, much to the dismay of the AGW crowd.

  • We are in a cooling phase, after 4 years of higher CO2 emissions: GW=nuclear power spin=wrong.

  • Plants sin ka; ;the CO2 we can give them. But for the last 4 years the world ahs been cooling. So sea plants have more of our CO2 - the gas of life!

  • My PhD area: The deep sea release He, O and gamma rays as tehy do molecular nuclear fusion from water. Me, only part way through my PhD in chemical and process engineering.

  • Good luck you stupid mf!

  • I am JT M.Eng. Stupid? No. Informed yes!

  • The seas do nuclear fusion from water! Power with no CO2 or toxic death.

  • 1948, two years after Hiroshema and Nagasaki.

  • Very little CO2 - but man has started nuclear fission then.

  • Plants take in CO2 t osupport life on Earth. CO2 levels in the globla air onyl go up in an ice age, when tehre is less life on Earth: CO2 is life.

  • jon

CO2 follows the increase in temps. When the oceans increase in temps, CO2 is released and rises.

  • When things get warmer, plants take in more CO2, and its level in the air falls: It rises in an ice age - are you stupid? Or don't you know biology?

  • jon

Sorry to dissapoint you my friend but, you're wrong. Cold ocean water retains CO2, this is true for all gases. When the ocean warms it precipitates CO2 through vapor. It's simple chemistry. This is why atmospheric concentration of CO2 follows air temp rise by as much as 1000 yrs. It does not precede it as the AGW theory suggests. This is a proven fact through ice core and tree ring data studies done over many yrs.

  • Yeah, I know biology and I also know physics; you are a spam-bot.

  • biology does molecular nuclear fusion: As does steam in turbulent flow

  • take a chemistry class
