Why do they never try and do a Mancunian accent? I'm sick of the word 'Britain', I hate that London is the capital and I hate that the woman asking the questions says 'British accent' when it's actually an English one. I bet 90% of them have never heard anything other than a Londoner accent, does my head in. Plus it's lead to the awful stereotypical accent they always do. @yethboth right now in Yorkshire, villages have their own slight subtle accents. As example, I can tell born and bred Holmfirth men from Honley men and the villages are less than a mile apart. What I don't understand is that why alot of people presume that a 'British' accent is someone who talks with either a cockney accent or a posh accent. Doesn't make sense. A 'British' accent consists of either an English accent, Scottish accent, Welsh accent or Irish accent. England itself alone has so many different counties and areas with so many different types of English accents. e.g. Cornish, Scouse, Manx, Geordie, Yorkshire etc etc.

Likewise I can pick up that someone has an american accent even though I might not be able to pin it down as to its regional accent. Its a catch all sort of term I think.
