I would like to think that like any decent composer, you wanted to create a sense of unity in your pieces. One of the best ways to this, like in a play, is to have many versions of the same song. They resonate with the viewer, but can inspire different feels through simple adjustment and tweeking. I really do appreciate this aspect of the soundtrack. I find that I enjoy each for different reasons, including harbinger of tragedy and the beast.

Well,maybe you are right,if you listen to this OST (III) you see some are the same. There are alot of piano versions of Cruel Angel's Thesis and Fly me to the Moon. I dont know why you think this one sounds like the others with the levels adjusted. But you have a point,some do sounds the same. ;)
