Remember one day in the mid 80s, when this was in the charts, I was waiting to register as unemployed in a Benefit Office when an old guy suddenly broke into song to break the silence and general misery in the place. He sang 'Doctor! Doctor! Cant you see I'm burning burning!' then asked: 'what does that mean?!' No one answered him though he did have a point! Great pop tune though.

Never like this tune. Looked it up to see if I might now. Nostalgia and all that. Nope.. I still don't. As far as I remember it was all this colour in the 80's and raining most of the time including in movies. Nah.. Once is enough. You can keep the 1980's.

@kezadrone When I read your comment I expected you to be a teenager in the 80s. You were SIX when this came out. You would have hardly any memory of this at all. The only thing you probably remember about the 80s is going to primary school.

@flares I remember my aunt in the hospital at two years old. Even what she was wearing. That same year I pulled a crystal shand out my nans roof in her house jumping from a bunk bed. I've got one of those memories. I stand by my comment. sir or madam.

I remember going to the hospital when my sister was born 1977 but I'm not old enough to appreciate 70s music, tv shows or what life was like in the 70s AT THE TIME. You talk as if you were going through your teenage years while the Thompson Twins were around.

The 80's had a perfect blend of rock, pop and soul hits. Even the movies of the 80's were so influential, they're remaking most of them today. In my opinion, it was the best 10 years for music, only bettered by the 60s. But when the 90s arrived, pop music started to become worse and worse gradually, but evidently.

Ya know, when I look back on what music influenced my taste in music today - it's got to be The Thompson Twins, (amongst many others of course). I had a Sony Walkman with their album, (tape folks, yes,. TAPE),.. I was 10 at the time & I used to carry it around with me all the time playing their album in the summer of 1983 or '84. Now I'm into deep progressive trance music - FAB! WTG Thompson Twins!

You think back to when this was a chart topper, you where a teen or young adult in the prime of your life having a blast, you relate those times to this music, when you where young, free and wild, i think thats why you like this music so much more then whats in the charts now.
