I have to assume the picture correlates to the recording (I recognize J.D. Crow but others might have never heard of him). You should've stated, for the potential Keith fans, who he was with when he made this recording and named the band in the picture so folks will know.
Isn't it just really hard for a LEGEND to ever die? I think Keith will live on for many years to come, if only through his music as so many GREAT ones before him!
Keith whitley was absolutely unreal..ARG such wasted talent..I wish so much he could've lasted a bit longer...he was just getting going. On the other hand we're not promised another breath and I'm sure he's singing with the Good Lord right now.
@scottro72121 It's by JD Crowe & The New South with Keith on vocals - before he moved to Nashville, permed his hair and hooked up with the toxic Lorrie Morgan.
thanks for posting this...i am a huge fan of the voice..His control is second to none It doesn't matter what style he's singing where can I get this era of material?
dadgummit redline - not a dr. ralph fan? i guess i sorta discovered keith in reverse. the song that drew me in was the clinch mt. boys' version sharecroppers son.....the vocals were stunning and singularly soulful to me.....marvin gaye/sam cooke-esque....in a different way of course. as soon as i heard it i thought - who's that guy! i knew immediately he was a rare talent.
These are really what I think were the best years of Keiths vocals. His country stuff just didn't always seem to have the same emotional intensity as the grassier stuff did. The Clinch Mtn. Country Album is some of Keiths best vocal work, if you can get over Ralph's obnoxiosly loud banjo and whiny tenor vocal which usually is not very complementary to Keiths voice. The only Ralph albums I have are the ones with Keith & some with Ricky Skaggs. I don't bother with the rest
We've loved Keith ever since we heard his first song years ago. Here in Kentucky we are so proud of all the great music he gave us. His voice just got better as the years went by. He always stayed perfectly on pitch - maybe the best singer to ever have that distinction. All of his songs are great but his romantic ballads have always been my favorites.Everything he has done has been a winner. I like this song - pure country as it should be - just a wonderful sound. Thanks for posting. - Paula
hey you got to love keith,s hardcore honky tonk music that was the best keith whitley everrrrrr stuff like that stuff and miami my amy and honky tonk heart and all those songs where the best ever u got to love keith whitley man
whats cool is that my wifes uncle wrote this song his name was john wesley buckner and he gave the song to bozo arnel who did it first its about wesleys ex wife
Keith singing lead for J.D. crowe band simply was better than everything I ever heard! Looking back I agree he should have stayed with Bluegrass! R.I.P. Keith, we miss you!
OMG! What a band, they were the greatest! Oh, Man, how we miss Keith so much! What a shame, he was such a great bluegrass +. If only he had stayed in Bluegrass music, and away from Nashville, and Lori. We would still have him. Thanks for sharing this. He does a much better job on this than even George!
Maybe so, but Ricky has said he had a drinking problem from the time he was a teenager. He certainly hid it well. What a talent he had. The singing, of course, not the hiding the drinking. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Keith was one of the best.
Thanks for putting on this great track from J. D.'s "MHAITHOF" album! One of my faves! If there's anything I can do to help you out with anything, don't hesitate to let me know. I'll try my best, and you have my word.
This song was wrote by Bozo Darnell which is my wife's grandfather.

Awesome vocals, the greatest country singer had he lived he would have eclipsed the others that he paid humble homage to. A singers singer, no doubt.

Sonny Garrish plays steel on this album....no doubt as an answer to the Osborne Bros. using Hal Rugg on their albums in the late 60's & 70's.
