Its not an alien, its an ancient sea creature that was underwater for thousands of years.

If you read the manga where cloverfield actually originated, you would know that it's not a baby.

There are several thousand of these monsters in the ocean waiting to be awakened, the one near new york was awakened in the film by a falling satellite thanks to a japanese soft drink company.

Their soft drinks had a special extract from way down in the ocean, and didn't even realise they were digging algae off of it's egg shell.

Yes there is but it's not called cloverfield.

JJ abrams worked with the guy that made the manga and asked if he could use his idea.

Originally the Cloverfield Monster was controlled by a boy spiritually, but the bond was broken somehow (cant remember the story that well) And it got angry and escaped japan.

Apparently JJ took the cloverfield monster concept and said that he wanted the egg in New York, and the monster would awaken in NY trying to find the boy, his original master.

@dakprojekt I can't remember. It took me like a half hour to find a wepage that translated the whole thing and i forgot where i found it. But that may be the name. The manga i hear was released after the movie came out but it's based on the backstory of the whole movie. But yes the slusho stuff i said is all definite. The slusho satelite can be seen at the end of the movie when they play back the feris wheel scene, look at the ocean, you will see a black dot hit the water, that's it.

Cloverfield didn't originate from the manga. The manga was released 5 months after the movie. And JJ Abrams, the creator, said that the monster was A BABY. The manga was stupider than holy hell anyways.

Only one things wrong: It had tentacles! The tentacle attack on the bridge was this same monster. The reason you don't see the tentacles much is because they are mostly on its back. ONLY ONE MONSTER!! The move producers said it themselves!

You could see the monster havin' tentacles inside its middle limbs, on the manga "Cloverfield Kishin". It eats people with thes "tentacles" (as Marlene says in front of the shop right after it throws statue of liberty's head).

actually this is the most accurate except for one thing. The back legs, in the movie, the monster is walking up straight with it's extended front arms supporting the weight, the legs in this picture are too long.

I really like how they made the monster in a way that made you react to it more like a 'wtf?!' response than a 'that's totally monster material and it looks so badass'.
