but what if you caught something in the mower while you have it lifted? lets say a mans arm and ofcourse you want to stop the mower but you cant because of this device? i say keep novice drivers away from this and if you have to stop quickly then just press the clutch and put the transmission in neutral and that'll prevent the tractor from moving and if your on a hill then ofcourse use your brakes
Good point.... would be better if the video specified that an overrun clutch is an important add on to tractors WITHOUT a two stage clutch, aka live pto. Yanmar, which is made in Japan not china, and has been building engines for John Deere compacts since 1979, does NOT have a 2 stage clutch.... so an overrun clutch is a good thing to have on there....especially for novice operators.
i just bought an older yanmar built John Deere 650 and it actually seems to already have an over run clutch built right in to the tractor as you can hear it ratchet when you turn it by hand with the tractor not running. i like that feature
That's correct. Tractors with live PTO doesn't need this over running clutch. The imported Yanmars do because they don't have live PTO. So does the Ford 8N, the Mahindra E-350 DI, etc...
He is correct about the pto on those crappy china made tractors. Most do not have independent pto and with their light weight, can be pushed by the implement.

Bill the tractor man is right, depends on what type of pto you have
joevideo08 2 years ago
the only reason you would need that is on a tractor the doesn't have live pto they need to be more specific

Except for really cheapo tractors. Those are the same drive mechanism.

this guy is completly wrong if you push the clutch in the pto and drive shaft stop
