It's a two liter engine. Maybe it sounds a bit different from what you expect because the exhaust pipe is not standard. It doesn't have the final silencer (marmita), just a straight pipe. This is what we call a 'brulpijp' (roaring pipe) in the Netherlands. It's is quite common to fit these on 105 type models (Spider, Giulia, Giulia GT(V), etc.)
Thank you, my friend! Expert I asked, expert i had :-D Thank you (by an Italian) for you Alfa passion too. May I ask if it was during the Mille Miglia race? If so, I've probably seen you passing by, shouting all my respect for a Duetto owner :-D
No, I've been to the Mille five times, but this was in 2006 when I was on my way to Genova for a trip to Sicily for the centenary of the Targa Florio (an event that unfortunately was of a very poor quality but the trip itself was great).
What a pity! I'm very disappointed about that. I hope you will attend the Mille anyway, this year, and if you will, I'll surely block the street to steal your Duetto, when you'll pass on Bologna hills!
I also have a classic Alfa Romeo the only thing I don't like is the driving position wide legs as a pregnant and outstretched arms, in a long travel you got destroied.
The sound of every Alfa four cilinders is burping fantastic.
Actually, if you drive it the way it was meant to be driven, with hands at 8 & 4 o'clock, instead of the 10 & 2 o'clock most of us are used to, the driving position works quite well, and your right hand is closer to the gearshift lever.
Italian engines are beautiful especially from the alfa factory. You have to really take care of them though as they are finicky. It seems as if the tire rods and suspension on this car were worn, if you put brand new Koni yellow sport suspension shocks as well as brand new springs and steering compontents on the spider it will hung the road even more. Expensive car to keep in shape but if you have the money buy won and drive it hard.
jeeesus! I love this car. Anyway take it easy, is a convertible, a crash must be super-dangerous.

Question for a real expert? Is this the 1.3, 1.6 or 2.0 litres engine? Can't understand. It's a bit cupe to be the Junior 1.3...
For the guy who posted before: go out n take a ride on your tuned Honda Civic :-D

@dinkyboy61 The 2 litres always aounded a bit grumpy... The 1750's & the 1600's are the singing engines.
I had a 1600 & got got it bored out to a 2 litre... Never sounded the same... Great, but not the same.
This brings back wonderful memories

I got a 72 (my favorite) and an 85 neither of them on the road yet. This vid gives me motivation.
