  • He died much too soon. I've always loved his music

  • This is my faveee george solo song! wow

  • David Bowie has done a good version of this too. Check it out.

  • beautiful lyrics in this song<3 no version beats the original!

george harrison- not only are you my favourite beatle, you are a legend!! :D

  • Every time I hear this song, I cry a bit. There is just so much beauty to it, kind of like all of the love and happiness in the world in 4 minutes and 8 seconds.

This coming from someone who laughs at horror movies and scowls at chick flicks. That's just how amazing George Harrison is (I avoid using the word 'was' because music lives forever).

  • Actually a drug song, George was using the same backing track from Ronnie Spectors version. try some, buy some...

  • @Lizardofoz66

It's about living in the material world, the pursuit of the illusory. Beware of maya. Peace...

  • George Harrison was a devout Hare Krishna until the end, he called himself an "Under Cover Devote" and that is what he replaced his drug use with. He sings a lot about it in many of his songs, especially , My Sweet Lord.

  • @awshucks

Ronnie Spector asked George what this song was about, and he said he didn't know, so how would you

    know it's a love song?

  • Sounds like George Harrison and Ronnie Spector used the exact same backing track!

  • This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard - and George, John and Paul wrote some beautiful songs.

  • that last photo is so cute!

  • Even though this is really good, I think I like David Bowie's cover of it more.

    George Harrison R.I.P <3

  • The orchestral part of this song is just so uplifting. It could have a different tune altogether. It's like a brilliant piece of music, split into two separate strands.

  • i think this is his best song!

  • @reneperezz Well, then you sir have yet to hear "Crackerbox Palace"!

  • This is in my top ten best songs of all time, along with 'The Long And Winding Road' and 'Who Can See It'.

  • the best one i've seen in a long time. ;]]] not a thing did i have, not a thing did i see. till i call on your love, and your love came to me, ;]]

  • esse cara é um gênio, palmas pra ele!

  • Love this song. What a lovely photo collection too.

  • In her autobigraphy, Ronnie Spector says that when she first heard George Harrison play this song for her, she thought it was terrible. She goes on to say that after hearing her finished recording that "The record stunk". She asked Harrison about a particular line in the song, saying that she didn't understand it. George replied "I don't either". Ronnie was right. It stinks.

  • some great pictures here!

  • siempre fue el mejor

  • THIS is the best version! George's voice is perfect, his SOUL is in this song - it's HIM. He was SO spiritual and beautiful and it flowed through his music. Bowie's version is good, but not even close to this. And Ronnie Spector's version just does not work (I dont' think she understood it). George will live forever in his beautiful beautiful music!!

  • I love this song, George was a genius exactly compare to John and Paul

  • This song made me cry on first/second/third.. time i heard. I love you George.

    Igor Landim, from Brazil.

  • I also MUST add that this is a great slideshow. The last pic made me tear up. Thx, un2tr3s14!

  • George... what a cool cat.

    Winning song.

  • Really good song. Reminds me of "Go Now," by The Moody Blues.

  • @stampede331 Yeah. Now you mention it. It is very like that. Sometimes I think George never came up with one song he didn't plagiarise.

  • @stampede331 whoa, whoa. Was not making that claim. Something, Here Comes the Sun, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Old Brown Shoe and Long, Long, Long are incredible songs and at least three of them could be argued into the top 5 list of greatest Beatles songs. Toward the end, George was outdoing John and Paul in a way that is somehow never discussed - and considering The Beatles are the most storied band ever, this is strange. And this comes from a giant Paul fan and a pretty large John fan.

  • Definitely, his music will be forever. This is my favorite album. i don't understand why this song wasn't played more on the radio. I heard it once at 2am in Mexico city in 1975, then in L.A. on KMET when they used to play whole albums.

  • 01:03 Dhaniiiiiiiiiii

  • my fave George song

  • Bowie did a nice take on Reality, but much as I love the Dame, George still keeps it his!

  • 2:33 ???

  • hahahhah!

  • 1of my favorite love songs. iLove the sound so cinematic, depressing...could be easily a soundtrack song !

  • This is about as close as the Beatles came as solo artists to matching the magic of the Beatles.

  • Nice song and pictures. I've never seen some of them before!

    Such powerful emotion indeed.

    love and miss you George!!!

  • One of the best songs ever written. Bowie , Ronnie and George all do great work. But agree that George has powerful emotion in his version.

  • I think for a lot of people, it's the version you hear first that you like best. I heard this version first and I like it best.

  • 1:57... Now that's a photo worth holding on to. Oh! But 2:22 makes me so happy!

  • really great video. amazing song.

  • Can a song really be better than this one ?

  • I do think Ronnie Spector's version was better. George's voice-and I love him-but it was a poor fit here; he really strained to hit the high notes. George originally wrote it for her.

  • Just listened to Bowie's cover. Nailed it!!!

  • Ronnie Spector and Bowie sing this a whole lot better, but I can hear emotion in George's voice, where I cannot in the other two...although still good.

  • @BeatleIngo Quite agree. It's clever, yet not contrived - and very beautiful.

  • kinda haunting

  • I really like this song... It's much better than David Bowie's cover (oh god, I just made a scar in my heart all by myself ._.)

  • Nah I think they were both very good.

  • george's music has something which is very original, something special that is not overly commercial but requires some musical understanding

  • i first heard the david bowie cover of this. it blew my mind. then i learned it was by george harrison originally and just had to find it. its wonderful

  • All this hippie music give you a real life force , it wakes you up . Thats what happend to me just while ago . Sunny music never dies . Budha bless ! Bliss

  • This is my favourite song of George, should be in the best all time .collection. God bless you.

  • oh george..

  • funny how it kinda reminds me of Mind Games the album

  • I love this song.....but i wish it had been produced more like the "all things must pass" style......phil spector etc.

  • this is one of George's best songs!!

    Dear George is not dead..

  • GEORGE...YOU'RE NOT DEAD MAN...!

  • his beautiful songs, lyrics, and musicianship will live forever, in that sense, a part of him will never die.

  • That song i heard for first time in 1971,and i liked, alway i hear. Great George.

  • Bowie's cover was pretty faithful, so gotta give props to the original!

  • nice vid man. this is the first time ive heard this song and i think it helped make it better. good job

  • este tema no es de ronnie es de harrison

  • Beautiful.

  • Perfeito!! Que lindo! O George é muito grande.

  • Have to agree with you. George was a songwriter par excellence . Although his songs were beautiful, I think you have to have studied music to realise his true genius.

  • Dear Bunchie1966:

When I was young, I loved Harrison's guitar playing and his songs. I subsequently studied guitar and music theory. I still love George's playing and compositions, but with a greater appreciation for what he did technically. So, I'll second your vote and attest to it from personal experience.

  • i study music & i think he's a genius, but i think it's just coincidence. though i don't know i didn't start really listening to good stuff like the beatles & bob dylan until my sophomore year of college.. so maybe it's not coincidence. i dunno...

  • Yes ! At last George's version of this song !

His voice was so right for this. All his soul in it.

  • Yes! OM Hari Son

  • we love you george. you are an outstanding human being. I never got a chance to thank you for all the love you gave. Your music will live on forever.

  • God, I love this beautiful, beautiful man.

  • Thank you VERY much for posting this song. I love this song and nobody sings it like George!

  • I beg to differ! David Bowie's cover is far far superior. Better sung and a better arrangement. GH's version is flimsy by comparison.

  • To 'yppisme'

    Haha ... silly me ... :)

You were well ahead of me on this one!

(replied to your comment from months ago, telling you that George's version of this song was on Tube at last .. but you already knew) Ah well ...
