@meshi1990 you guys piss me of who say hes on coke just cus he sings in his own way, how do think he should have sang to not get branded as narcotic.. =/
@narnode Yes. I learned it from reading a book I wrote. You are such a stupid fuck. If Bob Dylan was addicted to speed and quoted saying he doesn't mind opium why is it so hard to believe he was on coke for a while?
@LedZRush its not so hard to believe he was on coke, but you say he was. reminds me of when everybody said john lennon wrote lucy diamonds about coke cuz the first letters woere LSD, and in a interview he said he had no idea about it. you are the stupid person here
For those who do not know. ISIS IS the GO'VT in Vermont! The 'Green Mountain State'. Now when you see corps with the name ISIS, you will know it most likely has GOVT ties
In the movie 'I AM LEGEND', Will Smith met a woman and child. She had a Vision the Safe Haven was in VT. She said it was too cold for the virus. Out of all the places, she said to 'GO to Vermont', simply GO'VT. Look at the VT quarter. There you will see "ISIS standing between TWO pillars". -Manly P. Hall 33rd degree Mason
"Isis oh isis, you're a mystical child. What drives me to you is what drives me insane. I can still remember the way that you smiled, on the fifth day of may in the drizzle and the rain." ~ possibly my favorite phrase from any song.
@dirge75 I like how he sort of just doesn't give a...Bob does it his way, and that makes him a consummate artist of the highest calibre! Looking forward to the show!
My favorite Bob Dylan lyric, "My loneliness is killing me. I must confess, I still believe. When I'm not with you I lose my mind. Give me a sign, hit me baby one more time." Can you hear him singing it right now?
i belive his name is Rob Stoner. An awesome player, possibly the funkiest I recall ever playing with Dylan. His style really brings life into the tunes.
I love how his persona and style changes so much throughout time yet when he walks off stage you can see that it's still the same Dylan all these years.
Story teller. song and dance man,20 & 21 Century Pioneer.... All poets wrapped into 1...all musicians wrapped into 1....Many Many lives wrapped into 1...
The range, longevity, volume, and numerous innovations in Dylan's work over the career has but one rival figure in the modern age, and you have to go outside the field of music to find him: Picasso.
If i could go use a time machine and go back and watch ANY band or musician at any time in their lives i would choose the rolling thunder revue this to me is awsome he is so close and feels his music in his soul ,,,,,,1974 pink floyd comes close also lol
i dont care whether is the 50's,60's,70's etc. voice of dylan. coz 1 of his greatest talents is havin hundreds of personalities in his voice, that what makes him so good on what he's doin. u got the folk dylan, the rock dylan, ballad dylan.....that what makes him hauntingly amazing!
BTW, the only dvd I know of this really isn't a dvd, it comes on a bonus disc when you purchase The Rolling Thunder Review, along with live Tangled up in Blue
You might think that Bob Dylans sound in the '60s was better, but he wouldn't have been able to do this then. It's also rare to see Bob Dylan play a song with such intensity as here.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sure he would have been able to do this back then i dont see why you think he wouldnt... its not like this song is so much more mature than his older stuff that he could never sing it. his voice has no feeling in this song in my opinion. its generic. and i love dylan, but only 62-66 dylan
his voice is generic? how so, theres a lot of words you can use to describe dylan but generic is surely an odd choice no? hes anything but...and i think this is a great performance, but i do agree with KDoc21 in that he could have done somethin like this in the 60's, it just wouldnt have been as good cos he wouldnt have been feelin it surely? dylans best music is the stuff that reflects his true character? who knows, im not saying right and wrong here, just raising points
Ooo now we have a disagreement right there..(time magazine interview) 62-66 is great, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't even imagine my life without Blood on the Tracks, Desire, Street Legal, Infidels, Oh Mercy, World Gone Wrong, Good as I Been to You, Time out of Mind, Love and Theft, and of course, All of the bootlegs. They're all just so moving and powerful, whether from the scream of 'YES!' in Isis live, or the sentimental 'Ohhhhh' in the new york version of your a big girl now. I love dyla
Yes Sir, because its not only about what happened on stage...but also what happened off stage. Long time ago I read a book about the RTR and about the movie they were filming during it. For example: One night at 3 am Dylan took off in a old Volkswagen and returned 3 houres later with a small dog. I think Dylan is the only one who could get the Idea of buying a dog at 4am in the morning....and then actually do it. So many things happened of stage (in one scene Dylan married Joan ^^)
I just found God.. I've been playing the white stripes key of A version.. love of em both, but Dylan voice is AMAZING here. He's completely INSIDE that moment. 5/5
I saw this performance in Springfield Mass in Nov-1975(??) Since then I have talked to a number of folks who caught Rolling Thunder Revue's first tour back then , and most people remember it as the most incredible thing they have ever seen. Me too. Incredible band.. first time I ever saw T-Bone Burnett, Scarlet Rivera, et al. He would typically finish off his first full-band set with Isis, and it sure did leave the whole house abuzz for quite a while.
Yes. I've seen Bob plenty of times and pretty much I have enjoyed them all. But the RT shows always stand out ; the performance level was off the chart; this Isis video clip is IMHO the best evidence of that. Plus, many RT tour dates were announced just a day or two before the performance, and they played their share of smaller venues all over the place. Bob had been so reclusive for so long, and then all of a sudden he was playing in your home town, like tomorrow. It was exciting & big fun.
seriously - I think they were doing speed - check out the guy to his left at around 2:50 - 3:00 he's like biting the air....fing crazy. I am addicted to this video lately.
ya I'm sure he just walked around with coke caked all over his face....you would have to be an idiot to do that....not to mention how expensive it would be
Saw the RTR 2 weeks into the tour In Nov 75 at the Boston Music Hall. A Fri. nite they did 2 shows, 4 & 8 pm. I was lucky enuf to get a 4 pm tkt when the radio station said "Dylan tkts for tomorrow nite go on sale at 1 pm today at the box office". 1 day notice, LOL. What a mob scene at the B.O. Isis had not been recorded or heard by anyone. It was amazing when the band played it. The hi-lite of the show. It is the only time I have ever seen a major artist debut a great song in concert.
I love dylan but i can't decide if i like this or not, i keep lsitening to it but lyrically its not like his others and him singing without a guitar a weird and the white face lol.
You know, you really shouldn't put on such stunning performances if you don't want to be seen as a Messianic figure. If I had seen this live there's a possibility I might've claimed, yep, Dylan turned water in wine or healed someone right before my eyes..
If you like this, then you need to get the CD 'Desire' because the organ, drumming, and the violin combine for a great sound. Check out the violin on Hurricane...it's awesome.
Story has it that Dylan was driving down the street, saw this woman playing violin on the street corner, and asked her to join the tour.

Dylan's tone-deaf propensity to shout his lyrics on this tour is in full evidence here. What some observers regarded as "exciting" others saw as a sign of his degraded ability to control his timbre. Some singers' vocal chords - think Springsteen, above all - have the freakish ability to hold up after decades of abuse. No popular voice has degraded more than Dylan's, even though he's still a superb musical communicator.
bob could still sing the different ways he used to if he pleased , he could sing the melodies like the records. its not always to my taste when he changes things , but hes not on that 'greatest hits' route yet thankfully.
i don't think you realise just how well he sings every verse in this performance. Granted, he did lose his voice about 20 years ago, but around this period his voice is beautiful, just listen to the 'desire' album
Must be time to head back to the trailer park for you now, after your shift at the Dollar General. Can you stop at the Kwik Fill on your way home? Mama needs a carton of smokes...

Nah. Dylan is better than you and any stupid reasoning you can come up with, duh.

bob could still sing the different ways he used to if he pleased , he could sing the melodies like the records. its not always to my taste when he changes things , but hes not on that 'greatest hits' route yet thankfully.

i don't think you realise just how well he sings every verse in this performance. Granted, he did lose his voice about 20 years ago, but around this period his voice is beautiful, just listen to the 'desire' album

'Even though he's still a superb musical communicator'
Yeah...and nothing else matters.
I don't care for his voice, for his shouting or his lack of quality in his voice.
To be or not to be a good musical communicator. This is what is important, and no more than this.

Must be time to head back to the trailer park for you now, after your shift at the Dollar General. Can you stop at the Kwik Fill on your way home? Mama needs a carton of smokes...

Finally, someone with an objective (and professional) observation, other than "the man's a musical genius!". I like his music, but the guy is a tuneless warbler, as he's been described online...
