  • Chipper the old man!

  • mmmmmmmm silky smoooth :)

  • Man...slow it down and it looks even better. That's rare.

  • cool

  • Great Video & Anglefan12 is right, great looking swing.

  • The best switch hitter in the game.

  • i like how all the heads in the back turn to watch the ball fly

  • Still my favorite baseball player! Go Braves!!

  • everybody pay attention, take off your hats, youre in the presence, of a god.....

  • what a swing... shit

  • Its a little long, but its always worked.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

What mental changes should he make to fix that then you hitting guru?

  • @SadegoGG

I didnt say that he needed to fix anything? Much less mentally?

I was just saying it was a tad long. but plenty of good hitters have long swings.

Plenty of good hitters have short swings. Its not something that needs to be fixed.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

The mind is movement and the body is the manifestation of movement. It's simple human kinetics. Which mental processes should one utilize to shorten their swing?

  • @SadegoGG

    Hands strait to the baseball.

    Short to long.

    Hitting inside the baseball.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

Albert Pujols and many other major league hitters say they hit best when they trust their hands. Also, I have studies that conclude that conscious involvement of that hands in a baseball swing decrease force production. Also, not keeping your hands inside the baseball is an unnatural movement, and if it wasn't for unqualified sheep like you teaching people mechanics it would never be an issue. Also, 'short to long' is completely natural. Again, mechanics fail.

  • @SadegoGG

    Trusting hands=Hands straight to baseball.

You just agreed with everything that i said. You do realize that?

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

No you completely misinterpreted what I said.

I said major leaguers often times say when they trust there hands (USE THEM SUBCONSCIOUSLY AKA NATURALLY, NOT CONSCIOUSLY) they hit better. Do you need me to define conscious and subconscious for you?

I also told you I have scientific research papers confirming that THINKING ABOUT OR PUTTING CONSCIOUS THOUGHT INTO THE HANDS OR ARMS decreased force production. Force production translates into power.

So how did I agree with you?

  • @SadegoGG

Listen youre bringing up stuff i never mentioned .

Did i ever bring up natural opposed to unnatural hitting no?

Im speaking of the concepts used in batting practice and tee work to make the swing second nature.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

When you teach someone a mechanic you are taking away from their natural movements. The mind is movement and the body is the manifestation of movement. The swing is a single motion which is activated by thought and scientists don't even understand the chemistry involved with a 'major league swing.' Looking at a pros physical body and making adjustments with the physical body will not produce this swing, you must manifest the thoughts subconsciously of the professional hitters.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

Thoughts are what dictate movement, not the physical body. If you are going to jump, you consciously or subconsciously create a thought that makes you jump. When you break it down step by step you do not jump as efficiently as you would with your natural subconscious form of jumping. The same goes from swinging. Teaching mechanics impedes on this subconscious thought that creates the most efficient and highest yield of force in the swing.

  • @SadegoGG but once the body learns a more efficient movement it becomes natural, so youre wrong.

  • @SimpleStuff31

Can you provide me with any case studies? For instance an amateur player who has been developed into a professional hitter?

Anyways, its interesting you came up with that conclusion. This is used by many mechanics coaches who claim through repetition unnatural movements can become programmed. I have found this is true to a certain extent and the problem is it doesn't compare to the natural subconscious movements.

  • @SadegoGG after you repeat a taught motion in the same way 1000s of times through repitition it becomes natural and more effiecient, the body adapts to the change and makes it its own, i personally have changed how i pitch in order to be more efficient and its made me better, not worse, why is that?

  • @SimpleStuff31

You likely were never moving naturally. How old are you and how hard do you throw?

  • @SadegoGG well, i was 14 throwin like 65, i changed things, adapted to them, now im 15 and throw about 74-77.

  • @SimpleStuff31

As you grow, develop experience, strength train (Properly), and incorporate natural movements it is necessary for your velocity to increase. Now it depends on how big you are, but the average athlete who throws ~80 with mechanics can usually throw 90+ with proper utilization of the torso in just one offseason.

Also, you might be interested to know there have been 15 year olds who have thrown in the 90s. Mechanics coaches seem to be unable to explain this phenomena.

  • @SadegoGG proper utilization of the torso? what if it isnt natural for them to utilize it? do you teach him to or just let him use the less efficient, 'natural movements'?

  • @SimpleStuff31

The torso is the largest mass in the body, and it is also the center of mass. If you watch closely you will actually see hitters move their torsos prior to their legs (You will need very slow motion cameras to see this easily). Also, the legs and arms are connected to the torso and therefore it is completely natural. Did you know babies can't walk at birth because they haven't developed sufficient torso strength? Then they do everything with their torso until their about 5.

  • @SimpleStuff31

Watch a small child and how they move. Their backs will be straight (They don't even use the backs of chairs when they sit) and their torso is activated. Then when they are 5 their conscious minds develop to where they copy movements of others for many societal reasons, and most children quickly lose their natural movement at this point in their life. There is scientific experimentation and observational experimentation backing everything I just said.

  • @SadegoGG then why did i change my mechanics and get better?

  • @SimpleStuff31

Sure, you might get a little better changing mechanics. But you won't become a professional athlete. At least, no average high school player in the past have from mechanics.

  • @SadegoGG well im a sophmore in highschool and recieved an email the other day from purdue saying im a prospect student athlete in their organization. and im going to be playing 15u travel ball next year. so i think the changes really helped.

  • @SimpleStuff31

That's interesting, especially since coaches cannot email you until at least September 1st your junior year in high school.

Can you give me the coaches name so I can report this?

  • @SadegoGG well they emailed my mom, they also said that they may not send any recruiting info until sep 1st of my junior year, they just told me they noticed me is all.

  • @SimpleStuff31

They cannot contact you PERIOD. You just proved you lied.

  • @SadegoGG what did i lie about?

  • @SimpleStuff31

Purdue sending you information. You are not old enough. Unless you give me the name of the person who contacted you and a copy of the email so I can report them.

  • @SadegoGG they were offering a questionare, or however you spell it:p

  • @SadegoGG what are you talking about? haha..coaches can email you whenever. i committed and a lot of kids i know committed during their sophomore years in hgih school. they just cant call you until july 1st after your junior year

  • @SimpleStuff31

That is because when people mimic movements they see in the outside body, they fail to take into account what the inside body is doing and they do not properly develop the subconscious movements associated with hitting. Mechanics emphasize using the legs and the arms which is less efficient that using the torso, or in other words the core. The core is used by thought and it subconsciously directs the arms and legs.

  • @SimpleStuff31

If you do not swing with thoughts associated with the torso, you will have an unnatural swing that does not properly recruit the muscles in the torso no matter how much repetition you administer to unnatural movements. Therefore, unnatural movements (aka mechanics) don't seem to be more efficient than though based movements revolving around the torso and allowing the mind to recruit the arms and legs without any conscious thought.

  • @SuperScreamoFTW

I have personally emailed a lot of the top 'Mechanics Coaches' and asked them to give me some examples of baseball players they began to develop while they were average (Not excellent) high school hitters and coached to become good professional hitters. I didn't receive any responses indicating that this has ever been done. There is no reason to believe mechanical development creates hitters, however thought has created almost every successful individual in every industry.

  • @SadegoGG

OK man, thats great for you.

    Go hit for yourself.

  • this is simply beautiful

  • awesome! i love chipper! i am chipperfan!!!! but not a tremendous video

  • Chipper is the man. I remember the first time I saw him bat on tv he homered.

  • Chipper Homers every 18 At Bats

  • Chipper Jones is the best!! He will go in Cooperstown one day!! I just hope he doesn't get hurt this year and stays healthy. But, he is the best third best man there is. He can play a game and go Braves!!

  • BOOM!!!

  • With a .400 BA and 400 HR.Hes a first ballot hall of famer for sure.

  • @rambo483 his lifetime BA is .307... not taking anything away from him.. he's 1 of the best, if not the best, switch hitters of all time

  • @rambo483 you mean .300?

  • @rambo483 .400? not quite

  • @rambo483 he doesnt have a .400 BA

  • My point being that Chipper or Arimas deserved the GG last year. As for hitting, I like looking at OPS, it's your on base % plus slugging. I hate even thinking that some people wanted Ryan Howard to win the MVP last year with 199 strikeouts, that means that he struke out more than he got a hit, they should have a thing called strikeout average which shows how often you strike out on average, I bet Howards would be like .375.

  • no way can an mvp strike out that much its a good point

  • people who rely on statistics to make the argument that one player is better than the other truly does not understand baseball

  • That's pretty true, but some stats I think really show how good a player is like zone ratings. For instance, David Wright got a gold glove last year, but there's no way in hell he deserved it. He was like top 3 in errors made, one of the lowest fielding percentages, and a poor zone rating. Why did he get a gold glove? Because he makes "dazzling" plays, which are really just making hard plays looks impossible and easy plays look hard, much like Jim Edmonds. He's a dumb fielder too.

  • here you are wrong...maybe wright did not deserve the gg but he does make a good share of web gems more so than anyone else which is why he won it some of those plays can change games although i also realize errors can cost games but i think if he makes the routine plays he would be top notch

  • that's just it, he DOESN'T make the routine plays and he's also a stupid fielder. I remember one game vs Atlanta, bases loaded, one out, slow roller, instead of flipping home, Wright went for the web gem and bare handed it to first, wide throw, 2 runs score.

The players who DON'T show up on web gems all the time are the best fielders because they're good enough that they don't have to make the crazy plays. For instance, Wright's bare handed catch was totally unnecessary.

  • like i said even as a met fan im not gonna defend his gold glove but i do however think that overall he is a smart player...and also i feel like those who do win the gg's on average make more web gems than those who do not

  • thats true, for gold gloves they dont look for bad plays, just the spectacular ones like a barehanded throw to first that does make it and ends the inning, rather than the one that went wide and scored a couple.

  • theyre both great fielders, and while chipper may not make all the web gems now that hes getting older, hes still more reliable than wright... and there was a time when chipper made more web gems than wright ever has.

  • national league players are just all around better than american league players cept for A-ROD

  • anyone is better than A-ROD... My 8 Year old cousin is better than A-ROD... He fuckin sucks

  • is ur cousin juiced too?

  • just look at that swing, it's beautiful, and he's used it to the tune of first ballot Hall of Famer status.

  • Go Chipper!

  • what a gorgeous swing, if you're a coach, show your hitters this, everything explodes on the ball at once in a quick, smooth, motion, beautiful.

  • chipper jones is my favorite baseball player

  • While chipper is one of the best ever, I don't agree with teaching kids to swing like him. He does a toe tap step to his swing, which is not usually the best option for young kids learning how to hone their swing. Just thought i'd add my 2 cents.

  • Well I didn't say you have to have them emulate what he does, just have them look at his swing. Also, I was talking more about older boys. What I really like in his swing is how everything explodes at ones, hips, arms, hands, bathead, and his head is down, looking at the ball hitting the bat, it's how all major leaguers hit, at least the best, and that's the part they should see.

  • @Anglefan12 I agree. Great looking swing, I am glad to see him off to a good start in 2010 season.

  • braves rule

  • DAMN

  • Chipper Jones one of the best all-time 3rd baseman.

  • That's the way I teach it

  • great swing.....u knew that ball was gone

  • About the best switch hitter of all-time? I think he's still a bit behind Mickey for that title. He is though, the greatest third baseman of all time. He has Schmidt in AVG, OBP and SLG. He also averages more runs scored and driven in than Schmidt did. He is the greatest player of this generation.

  • Is anybody else getting a rotating circle in the middle of the screen instead of the video? Is there anything that can be done about it?

  • thats a sweet swing

  • chipper has one of the smoothest swings out there, if it werent for injuries he'd probably be the best switch hitter of all time

  • beautiful

  • home run by chipper jones good swing!
