thanks, i got it fixed now, i moved the gyro lower and used some heavy steel and sorbathane under the sensor to damp it also fitted an aftermarket tail blade bearings kit to take up the play in the blades.
also increased the headspeed a bit .
i dont know exactly which one fixed it but its gain is at 40 % now and running fine.
higher head spped will always make the heli more controlable . and give tail more control . always good . if u raise the head and it doesnt sort it . check ur tail servo horn for length . the longer the horn the more gain ur machanically giving your gyro . so if u shorted the horn you turn the gain up on the gyro or tx . i always set my horn to the length that make the servo cover the full tail slider length at full servo travel . this gives better resolution over the full tail range .
i just set it up with the round horn you get with the DS650, its pretty close to the centre, in fact its so close it dosent quite cover the full tail slider. its travel is short by maybe half a mill each end.
ill do a bench vid of how i have it setup, maybe you will spot the problem from that.
ill be honest the solid G seems stupidly complicated to set up if your altering anything more that the first 2 basic menus. much preffer the GP750 i got with the 250 rex.
half a mill by god you have good tolerances . thats fine half a mill you prob wont ever use the full travel any way . what was the travel like prior to u changing the horn . was it over traveling . also be sure to in crease ur gyro gain now if you had a longer horn on you will defo need to increase the gain . increase it till it wags then knock it back till stops wagging . and jobs a good one .
yer man it was overtravelling, so i just set the end points using the gyro thingy box, due to lack of cash i first had it set up with a spektrum servo that i got with the dx7, but it just wasnt fast enough. youve given me a lot to think about tho, i think you may have solved it... im going to try a slightly longer horn and see.
i just assumed the head speed would be fast enough because i used the 15 tooth on the motor (book advises 14) i also have the throttle curve higher than the book recommends.
it has mate yeah, its not running in governor mode because i was advised against it.
one thing tho, when i was testing it with the floats on i raised the throttle curve a bit for more lift at low stick, seemed to make it a bit more controllable all round.
ATM the throttle curve is set at 0 - 43 - 67 - 85 - 100. also no expos on anything at all because i dont really understand setting them on the DX7. preffer my Dx6i tbh
head speed to low and since u are running a torque tube make sure the bearing is where its ment to be also try and change the gyro pad

fine tuning the pitch curve now.

@tyearlfries4 id love one but thy solid g was expensive and i want some use of it after laying down a fair bit of money for it :S

Yeah, bring your headspeed up, even for normal mode it sounds low

will do cheers man.

you need more head speed

cheers mate ill give it a go

Is there any problem with the belt? too tight or loose?
chowderek111 2 years ago
Hi mate, no the heli is the ESP version so it doesn't have a belt, it has a shaft drive mechanism.
align call it the "torque tube" these can have problems with the bearing in the boom but mines running fine.
next flight i'm going to try more head speed, if that fails errrrrr. more head scratching !
armolite 2 years ago
Oh, yes, you are right! I forgot it. Because I do not have 600ESP but want to buy one when I can master my clone 450 well.

@armolite you need more head speed

the gyro gain wont go no lower so i was stumped.
ill video the set up and give you a shout.
thanks again fella.
armolite 2 years ago
you want the smallest horn u can that will give u the full travel on the slider . then raise ur gyro gain . mail me if ur stuck

@rollafatonedude
will do mate thanks, gimme a day or two and ill video the set up, might help others in the future.

head speed seems rather low to me . wats it like when u bump it up a bit
rollafatonedude 2 years ago
@rollafatonedude ill try that later cheers.
