I'm 19 and I was born without a thyroid. For the last 3 years this shit seems like it's been fucking up my whole life. If anyone can relate please feel free to PM me I'd love to talk.
I wish I could go to this Dr. I can't take Selenium (not even yeast-free) because it gives me bad lower back-aches (probably, I have PCOS). My tsh leves test "normal", but my food journal shows that soy, broccoli, cabbage, peaches, etc. will cause me large, overnight weight gain. I cannot even touch cooked broccoli or cabbage--the cooking makes no difference. I think mercury messed up my adrenals and my thyroid. I had 8 metal fillings in my mouth.
This doc speaks what most docs don't even tell you! He's brilliant. I was under medication for hyperthyroidism, for 2 years...it only got worse with a lot of harmonal imbalance to deal with. It is now cured in just a few months of yoga & acupressure! :)
i am also taking roaccutane for my acne ... can you please tell me what happened to you as i wana know cz i been taking roaccutane for several months ... thanks
This was a good video. He explains it very well. I have read numerous articles and many books on hypothyroidism and he still gave me new information.
He also mentioned a couple things that only my Naturopath doctor had told me before: exercise and the cold compress on the neck.
I wish/hope I can become cured by this. But in order to possibly do this I need to have a very good doctor, be very disciplined and have money. Mostly lacking on the money part right now.
@Anon12356 not an MD but an ND, the title does not matter if he has done his research well and is giving people mostly holistic options that they can incorporate into their lives to make their situation better. of course people are not going to prescribe themselves synthroid or armor or anything but based on his information maybe they can bring their new ideas to their private doctor who may or may not choose an alternative therapy for his/her patient. it would be the MDs call on that.
@Anon12356 well i am not a doctor either but have a background in the medical field for many years and have worked closely within the realms of endocrinology and he makes a lot of good points that patients can discuss with an MD. He is not showing research but has obviously learned and done enough to know what he is talking about. ND are nursing doctorates who can learn just as well about and should about physiological processes...enough to educate a patient..but i will respect your opinion.
@Anon12356: This is true as I've cured my hyperthyroidism with only yoga & acupressure for just a few months, without any medicine at all! I totally believe in natural therapies, as they are wholesome & treat the root cause, not the symptoms.
Unfortunately, that is only your experience. Other people may have had difference experiences with acupressure and yoga. There could other reasons you got "cured", for example, you could have been misdiagnosed with hyperthyroidism or it could have been "cured" for another reason you are not accounting for.
The only way we can find out whether acupressure and yoga truly are cures for hyperthyroidism is with empirical evidence, not anecdotal evidence.
As of now, I am not aware of any such evidence. When natural therapies/alternative medicine are proven to actually work with empirical, scientific evidence they just become normal medicine.
Now I understand why my cod liver oil really helps my hypothyroidism. 2 months ago, I felt like I was over tired, couldn't get out of bed and muscle and joint pain over my body, and acne formed over most of my face. I couldn't go to work, my first doctor told me there was nothing wrong, Not until I went to my second doctor, she told me I had hypothyroidism. By then, I started the oil for acne and not only my acne is better now, but I have lot more energy. it's great to be completely awake.
Dont say u cant reduce weight and control thyroid, defi u can.follow my diet definitely take guggul and protein,do exercise.i drink smoke i wont sleep well, eventhough my hard work pays.if u dont have any bad habit, its curable so easily.just confidence and mail me if u have doubt.abilashwe@gmail.com.i send guguls if u wont get in ur country for free.its just a dollar in india.i want every one to kick the thyroid all the best.

great video, but which herbs help?? I have Fibromyalgia but this mimicks hypothyroidism to a T, I take codliver oil daily, will get more DHEA, i have seleinium in liquid dropper, can hardly move from low energy, the difference with Fibromyalgia is the Migrains, and severe body pains move everwhere in upper body muscle groups, now addicted to tramadol it works but im addicted and withdrawl is the worst pain ever.. anyway at least I can talk to my doctor with greater knowledge.
I'm 26 and found out I had thyroid cancer early this year. After a total thyroidectomy, I have to take thyroid pills for the rest of my life. I'm on a desiccated thyroid which I've heard works much better than the synthetic brands. Feel free to message me if you're having trouble and need some advice. I'll send you all the info I have. I know how hard it is to live with hypothyroidism and I'd love to help anyone who needs it any way I can!
If you are looking for a treatment to help eliminate pain. Please view a documentary called 'device that relieves pain' on ABC four corners: I have been pain free for 4 years and have SCENAR treatment every 6 months.
Quack quack. Please don't call yourself a doctor it is very insulting to the brilliant people who have spent their lives learning science and medicine and save thousands of lives everyday. You, on the other hand, wasted your life studying pseudoscience that doesn't help anybody. See the difference?
haha, you are a total dickhead. just taking thyroxine does not always help.. ive been on it for years and i was still very sluggish and tired, depressed, and i was really trying to get exercise, got more than a lot of healthy people, and things are still this way and it can be hard. thyroxine does NOT SUPPLY THE HORMONES YOU NEED. get your adrenal checked out, too. good luck
@jillzafreak IF you have hypothyroidism you get thyroxine. IF you DON'T have hypothyroidism then you SHOULD NOT take thyroxine. Thus, thyroxine depends on the DIAGNOSIS. If you still have a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and still thyroxine doesn't correct your symptoms then you should have thyroxine blood levels checked. IF the blood levels are NORMAL you might have a condition called GENERALIZED THYROID HORMONE RESISTANCE. I might be a dickhead, however I am not an EMPTYhead.
yes, you are being a TOTAL ANNOYING COCKKEAD. Of COURSE i am hypothyroid. It took a lot of asking questions and getting blood tests, even after i became so tired it was hard to function at all, and turns out i have hashimotos. So fuck off, as if anyone would be taking thyroxine if they werent hypothyroid? Why would you assume that I would just go and take a drug that i had not been prescribed? Doctors say my levels are "normal"., GPs have no idea, keep seeking, ppl!
@jillzafreak C'mon! Let's cut to the chase and stop being childish! Don't you want help? The differential diagnosis could be vast with such symptoms like yours... Maybe your tiredness is due to another cause and you might need to check it out. A potential list is: Anemia, depression, drug side effects, adrenal insufficiency, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia, rheumatologic diseases like fibromyalgia and list goes on and on... I suggest you look for those as well.
There is also congenital hypothyroidism which is something you are born with. This can be due to a malformation of the thyroid, for example, only being born with half a thyroid.
I've had hypothiroidism since I was 9 and am now 16 I've always felt this way and dont really remeber feeling any different..Ive just learned to deal with it, things could be so much worse so why complain? :)
i have hypothyroid, and i'm 13 years old.... doctors said its rare for me to get this sickness at this age, .. and especially that i dont have any other sickness =='' ... am i not normal ??? :O
@Harukatsu26: That depends! You're 13...But other then that...You've given no other information about your bloodtests, eating habits, height, weight, gender, enviroment, etc, etc. And is it Hypothyroidism Type 1, 2 or 3...?
I can tell you this...it isn't common for any 13 year old to have any form of this...but many factors in your life can tell a trained professional why you have it and how to treat it.
honestly, fuck the thyroid gland. who needs that shit anyways. depression? constipation? weight gain? fuck all that. i smoke meth daily and all that shit has gone away and i feel great
@HypothyroidismInfo like what i have hypo too and this winter and the past 2 years of my life has been hell lazy tired angry depressed i barely go anywhere or feel like doing anything and i'm underweight
wow its a lot more relieving to know that there are young people like me who have hypo. seriously i thought i was the only 18 yr old (at the time) who had this. great!
i have this now, i use to have hyperthyroidism, but somehow I ended up with this..now I know why I have no energy..plus there is a link between gluten intolerance and hypothyroidism..so basically i am stuck still eating gluten free
My best friend who is 21 has this. & it has taken over her life. She is always in pain, she never goes anywhere, and she doesn't do anything. Its like she is a different person. She has been on levothyroxine for over a month and there is no change in how she feels. I just wish there is something I could do to take the pain away from her. =(
im a 20 year old male, and i dont do anything anymore, and levothyroxine does nothing! i feel her pain but its a lot worse for someone who's lifestyle is based predominantly on sports
@MrsKaulitz88 Wow, I'm 21 and have this curse. I know exactly how she feels and hope she can find a way to feel better. The worst part is everyone assuming "oh, he's just lazy" or "he's just rude", that really gets old fast.
@MrsKaulitz88 I am also hypothyroid. Changing diet to eliminate food goitrogens (raw cruciferous veggies/ strawberries/ peaches/pears & millet), all processed food (sodas, cereal, bread, chips, etc- the preservatives, artificial sweeteners/ colors/ flavors, processed sugars and corn syrup). I Avoid flouride (mainly in toothpaste & tap water). I Avoid gluten (wheat/ rye/ barley/ spelt/ kamut/ non GF oats) & chem laden meats which are so BAD for the thyroid.
@Cairokmt I avoid GMO's. I eat mainly non-cruciferous veggies- squash, tomatoes, lettuce, dandelion, etc. fruit and organic grass fed & finished meat (NOT grain fed). Some folks tolerate GF (gluten free) pseudograins- teff, quinoa, amaranth, chia seeds and beans (soaked overnight and cooked thoroughly). I use xylitol & stevia. No more chem cleaners or air fresheners (environmental goitrogens) & use baking soda & vinegar to clean. Exercise is very imp.Food is expensive but I feel better.GOOD LUCK.
My aunt has hypo thyroid and she used Picur,a combination of piperine and curcumin and Regenesis, a probiotics .The result is very good.the goiter size was reduced by almost 40% in three(3) months.
@MrsKaulitz88 - If she's in pain, she may have Thyroid Cancer. She needs to have a CT scan or Ultrasound to find any nodules which might be cancerous.
@MrsKaulitz88 Unfortunately, I can relate; it's awful and I understand. You're absolutely right. It's like one can't do or be what one wants to because of being so constricted. Confidence goes flat. It really does make a person want to just give up. Seeing as this is 7 months old, I hope and pray and wish that your friend has found a solution by now, bless her heart. I'm right in the thick of my quest, which includes everything from meditation, to yoga, reflexology, tonsil and thyroid research..
any one help me... how to control hyper thyroid and what makes it hyper??? am using homo medicine when i use it i feel normal but when i stop using medicine and after 6th to 7 weeks i feel again symptoms of thyroid i.e weakness, irritating, pain in whole body, too much feeling hunger even after 2 or 3 hours again i feel hungry, is it really a hyper thyroid or hypo??? what is the main difference in between two? how to define in both?
@TheHellopomi hyper is overactive which means your thyroid is producing too much hormones whereas hypo underactive your thyroid produces less hormones and they both have different symptoms overactive most commmon symptoms are fast heart pulse weight loss anger ,nervous , tired , lack of concentrations fast metablosim and much more .Underactive symptoms are feeling lazy no energy loosing interset gaining weight slow heart pulse ,i have overactive thryroid and its exactly the same symptoms ar urz
ok doctor but how to control hyper thyroid and what makes it hyper??? am using homo medicine when i use it i feel normal but when i stop using medicine and after 6th to 7 weeks i feel again symptoms of thyroid i.e weakness, irritating, pain in whole body, too much feeling hunger even after 2 or 3 hours again i feel hungry, is it really a hyper thyroid or hypo??? what is the main difference in between two? how to define in both?

Research the fluoride connection. Most of America's water supply is contaminated with ALCOA's waste product-Fluoride. Instead of paying to rid itself of its waste it sells and makes a profit by having our gov't dump into our drinking water.
@GodBlesstheWorld2008 Yes I have heard that it is a really toxic substance that is difficult and expensive to dispose of safely - oh wait - what's cheap and easy? Let's put it in the drinking water and con everybody into believing its good for them! Mass medication? Mass poisoning!
cook them or eat them raw and supplement iodine rich foods and supplements. that will keep you getting the anti cancer nutrients from the raw cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower, etc.
i have learned..what a normal thyroid reading might be to a medical doctor is not the same to a specialist..always go to a thyroid specialist for your thyroid
this disease is so underrated.. it changes ur personality completely.. u feel no emotion n ur mind is so much slower(dumber) therefore u cnt synchronize with the world like u did.. n synthroid doesnt manage this at all.. this disease ruins lives.. life sux
@Hancy18 How do you check and Test for this ,I've been tested w/ symptoms but inconclusive ,do you need a specialist;isther spacific tests for Hashimoto ,
@DYNODRUM y need 2 do an antibody test.. because the same thing happened to me.. i had all symptoms but my tsh wsnt tht bad.. its so dumb how it works, horrible flaw.. but then i went 2 my mother's friend.. she did an antibody test n diagnosed me with hashimoto's.. so yea ask for antibody test i guess
@Hancy18 Thankyou for reply; at best a Doctor should tell me this or suggest , why is Healthcare in this nooby country so dumbafide...Once my thyroid was low and put on Synthroid , Now I have more marked symptoms.. Thanks again..
@DYNODRUM yea. its sad.. imagine how mny r out there suffering.. my tsh was 27 n they still let me slide.. n the meds help u get by but get u nowhere close to the person u were.. thts not their fault, but they shouldnt tell u everythings gnna return 2 normal.. this disease is very underrated
@DYNODRUM "As of February 2010, at most laboratories in the U.S., the official "normal" reference range for the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) blood test runs from approximately .5 to 4.5/5.0. "(about.com)
-thats according to them but ive read that the range should be drastically expanded
I have had hypothyroidism since I was 12 and now I am 37 and I've been having palpitations for about a year and a half. Now and then. :(( I get scared.:(( I heard that some ppl have that.(palpitations and hypothyroidism.:) *sighs*
@blacksheepgirl Oh also my body doesn't make cortisol and I'm supposed to take it. Also I am soooo tired. My pituitary doesn't work properly. (If someone could help me) I've lost wieght have neutropenia and maybe lupus now because of slightly or somewhat elevated leukocytes i believe it is.:)
@blacksheepgirl Also I have horrible anxiety and horrible dperession and anyway.. if you could help me. Ty. I've been very tired lately. Ty. (btw I have totally lost about about 11 pounds for no reason and have kept it off and not trying. I have a huge desire for sweets and sugar like I'm addicted to it. I have tingling in my hands for a while after I wake up. I have other health issues, but I think you've heard enough of my life story. If someone has an idea ty.=) ~BSG
Interesting - one major thing they forget to mention is STRESS is a big factor. I had Graves Disease and no drugs, no surgery no radiation. I used cd's for deep relaxation, recovery, breathing morning and evening. One year on and I am fully recovered. I used the powerful CD's by Jonathan Banks and I did relax and still use them - check them out. Google - Relaxationforme U tube yourbraintraining
@EvettBrown I agree with you. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism after having gall bladder surgery. I am supposed to be on thyroid tablets for the rest of my life. No way I don't trust BIG FAT PHARMA and I have not taken my tablets for 6 months now. Things don't seem to be getting drastically worse. There are alternatives to taking drugs rest is a big help-and recently castor oil packs for boostered my energy.
Hi thank you for your comment. I find it strange that Western Doctors say stress is the major factor in ill health yet don't address this & are sort of drug dealers - keeping the pharmaceutical companies is business. They don't treat the whole person only the symptom - Imagine how disabled & crazy the Western World would be if all drug companies when out of business - suddenly. I advocate real relaxation only because I know how much it helped me. We are a quick fix society! Sad!
hmm..i was born naturally without my thyroid gland off. the great thing is that my condition is great because of the medication i've been taking since i was a baby. its called synthyroid. i can play sports, which is fun, of course i get tired, but i'm feeling great!!!
hi im 24 and i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism according to my doctor. She advised me to take in PTU and Propanolol. but i still have some of those symptoms. What should i do? should i continue the medicine? Can i try the T3and T4? is it safe and effective? do i still need a doctor's prescription fir that? please i need help thanks...
is there synthroid available here in US ? TSH test is not efficient for those who have done it, you can tell is inaccurate sometime your t3 and t4 hormones will be in the average and sometime it wont ....i need some help in my life , somebody who can advice me my parents think is a thing i made up , thay say i look healthy , im telling them is not how you look is how you are feeling ! I've noticed a change in life its harder for me to concentrate , and learn !
i'm on thyroid meds and i'm still gaining weight?? i'm down to eating 1 meal a day..i'm never hungry and i have no energy to do anything anymore. what else could be causing this?? doc says my thyroid reading are back to normal..but i don't feel normal and now i've gained so much weight i can hardly walk anywhere..please help
I have hypo..and i take synthroid..I feel like crap on a regular basis..Chronic fatigue-is an understatement. All tests come back normal..
I'm at a loss on what to do..I've been pushing my Dr. lately..but..I think he sees the tests and thinks..its in my head or something..
Ive aged in a matter of months..looking so tired u know..Either way..living with this sucks..I can see and hear the frustration in ppl in this blog for sure..
Look at drlowe . com as well as the good advice above by dimewylebilly. He's got a lot to say about this. I am hypothyroid, and follow the Eat Right 4 your type diet and it's helped tremendously. If you are blood type O, hypothyroid is prevalent for them. Check out the website dadamo . com and you will see the diet.
Thinking back I feel kind of lucky my labs were so horrible off when I first got tested (my TSH was 122). There are so many people who are feel like crap and ARE hypo but their numbers were too close to normal.
I've been taking Armour (piggy pills) for about 7 years now and feel great. Too bad I (and many other) had to practically fight the medical/pharmaceutical establishment to even try the medication and stay on it.
BTW. Thank you Dr. Ferguson for letting patients even try natural thyroid. There are too many doctors who will not, unfortunately. (I'm also REALLY happy there is a great compounding pharmacy 2 miles from my house. I used Walgreens before and they kept telling me I couldn't get the medication anymore. The compounding pharmasist said that was a load of crap lol)
@ScaperSteph, I am newly on the piggy pills as of 1 week ago. I keep hearing how hard Armour Thyroid is to find, what is a compounding Pharmacy? Luckily I have 2 months worth right now but the Doc is still adjusting my levels and my dosage will be changing.
They get the same pharmaceutical grade thyroid medications the big drug makes get and put it into pill form. They can mix it for whatever you need.... like if your allergic to a certain ingredient. (Or in our case can't get a certain brand)
@ScaperSteph, isn't that interesting! Thank you so much for posting this information. I wish there was one place to get all this info at once. I have been researching for weeks and getting little bits of awesome info from all over the net. And, I just found a Compounding Pharmacy near us, thank you so much!
the thyroid association is being bought by the drug company Abbott, last year Abbott the makers of synthroid (a very inefficient synthetic drug)gave the thyroid association seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars and the association advised doctors not to prescribe natural thyroid anymore. This puts me and thousands of others like me who are very allergic to the synthetic thyroid drugs in danger of actually loosing our life. What the thyroid association is doing is a crime.
i was diagnosed with this :// and before they even told me i have it, i knew i had it from lookin at my symptoms.webmd'd.sad...im always having abnormal heartbeats, arrythmia? losing lots of blood due to abnormal menstruation, im taking 325mg iron 3x day coz they told me my blood count is really low.. and levothyroxine 1 a day. .. god why me! losing hair, etc...
When I got diagnosed I thought it's alright because the Drs say it can get treated with Thyroxine and you'll be back to normal. So I thought great, i'll wait till the medication works enough so I can get back to my life and I'm still waiting after 7 years...
i was diagnosed with graves deseace (hyperthyroidism) i was given iodine pill never went back to the DR but started gaining weight.after a year i got preg and then got diagnosed with hypo.. started taking levothyroxine, odd thing i gained only 11pounds within that year, i weight 93 pounds compare to 82 is big for me.Odd thing is are u suppose to be over weight? i read some people actually loose weight though they are hypo.
@mirellale well.. i have been taking my meds.. thts wht the doctors say lol.. tke ur meds everythingll b fine.. yet im always confused.. crazy brainfog, my mind is no where near its normal state... i cant think clearly, n tht really sux wen u love art.. the meds leave u nowhere near normal body chemistry.. atleast for me
@Hancy18 Well the synthroid takes care of your hyperthyroidism but not what caused it.. Kind of hard to advise you because i com from a country where you get limitless healthcare for 23 euros a year... You get realy far by googling causes of hypothyroidism..
@mirellale so ur saying i should try n solve the autoimmune disorder instead of maintaining?.. ive heard of this how would they go about doing this.. because the drugs hardly do anything.. im convinced physical trauma cud have caused my thyroid ants lol
@Hancy18 , I took lightly in the beginning and did not realize how serious this is. After 10 years I have gone from a very athletic and active person to somebody who is barely awake. The only positive thing is that I have not put on too much weight. You can email me at salu_tj@yahoo.com. I got an emergency call to the Doctors office after my last blood test last week. My appt is on Tuesday, I am scared what they are going to tell me !!!
I am not sure ..what's the difference btwn hyper- or hypo- thyroid? I do experience fatigue even after I sleep and I do experience hair loss. I remember once or twice, my heart beats so fast, I couldn't control it. It happens once when I was on a job interview, I could tell if I was nervous or my heart just beat fast...I know I couldn't control at the time. I don't know why I feel so tired all the time...
so informative.thanks 4 sharing. i was tested, came back "normal" , also..tho im so tired & easily get lost when driving in an area that ive been in 4 so many years..=poor memory, etc..i will look into these natural vitamins here-thanks!
Question. You think the fact that hypothyroidism is much more prevalent in women than man is because they consume less protein and men consume more protein in general? Google "protein thyroid". I was told I had an enlarged thyroid by a thyroid doctor who felt my neck. But my thyroid hormones came back normal, however they might be considered subclinical hypothyroid. My main sympton of mental cognitive impairment/brain fog came about when I stopped taking a whey protein supplement. Hmm...
Mine looked "normal" too even though I was told I had an enlarged thyroid. That's why a thyroid enlarges -- to pick up the slack and to keep the thyroid hormones normal.
so? Im supposed to take test after test after test until I'm blue in the face? Cuz thats what I did. and ALL my tests came up normal. SO NO! The health care system sucks and the doctors don't know shit. So, I say rely on urself if u wanna get cured.
i have this and pectus extavanum, fuck my life =)

My doctor says I have subclinical hypothyroidism with an auto immune condition. Is this even possible I've never heard of this before?

So by treating the underlying auto immune symptom within hypothyroidism is it possible that a person's hair can grow back?

I couldn't go to work, my first doctor told me there was nothing wrong, Not until I went to my second doctor, she told me I had hypothyroidism. By then, I started the oil for acne and not only my acne is better now, but I have lot more energy. it's great to be completely awake.

Quack quack. Please don't call yourself a doctor it is very insulting to the brilliant people who have spent their lives learning science and medicine and save thousands of lives everyday. You, on the other hand, wasted your life studying pseudoscience that doesn't help anybody. See the difference?

slimsk23 10 months ago
Just take Thyroxine and you are OK!
themistoklis1984 11 months ago
@themistoklis1984
haha, you are a total dickhead. just taking thyroxine does not always help.. ive been on it for years and i was still very sluggish and tired, depressed, and i was really trying to get exercise, got more than a lot of healthy people, and things are still this way and it can be hard. thyroxine does NOT SUPPLY THE HORMONES YOU NEED. get your adrenal checked out, too. good luck
jillzafreak 10 months ago
@jillzafreak IF you have hypothyroidism you get thyroxine. IF you DON'T have hypothyroidism then you SHOULD NOT take thyroxine. Thus, thyroxine depends on the DIAGNOSIS. If you still have a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and still thyroxine doesn't correct your symptoms then you should have thyroxine blood levels checked. IF the blood levels are NORMAL you might have a condition called GENERALIZED THYROID HORMONE RESISTANCE. I might be a dickhead, however I am not an EMPTYhead.
themistoklis1984 10 months ago
@themistoklis1984
yes, you are being a TOTAL ANNOYING COCKKEAD. Doctors say my levels are "normal"., GPs have no idea, keep seeking, ppl!
jillzafreak 10 months ago

@MrsKaulitz88 Wow, I'm 21 and have this curse. I know exactly how she feels and hope she can find a way to feel better. The worst part is everyone assuming "oh, he's just lazy" or "he's just rude", that really gets old fast.
charlie123abc360 1 year ago
@MrsKaulitz88 I am also hypothyroid. Changing diet to eliminate food goitrogens (raw cruciferous veggies/ strawberries/ peaches/pears & millet), all processed food (sodas, cereal, bread, chips, etc- the preservatives, artificial sweeteners/ colors/ flavors, processed sugars and corn syrup). I Avoid flouride (mainly in toothpaste & tap water). I Avoid gluten (wheat/ rye/ barley/ spelt/ kamut/ non GF oats) & chem laden meats which are so BAD for the thyroid.
Cairokmt 11 months ago

@MrsKaulitz88 Unfortunately, I can relate; it's awful and I understand. You're absolutely right. It's like one can't do or be what one wants to because of being so constricted. Confidence goes flat. Sad!

Thinking back I feel kind of lucky my labs were so horrible off when I first got tested (my TSH was 122). There are so many people who are feel like crap and ARE hypo but their numbers were too close to normal.

the thyroid association is being bought by the drug company Abbott, last year Abbott the makers of synthroid (a very inefficient synthetic drug)gave the thyroid association seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars and the association advised doctors not to prescribe natural thyroid anymore. This puts me and thousands of others like me who are very allergic to the synthetic thyroid drugs in danger of actually loosing our life. What the thyroid association is doing is a crime.

Good synopsis of inter-related thyroid function elements. Nutrition, life-style, auto-immune.
Tyrosine, iodine, B12 support T4 production, excess melatonin inhibits T4.
Selenium helps convert T4 to T3(active)
heat & cortisol(stress) inhibit conversion, DHEA lowers cortisol.
First optimize healthy lifestyle, stress reduction, physical activity, daylight exposure, nutrient consumption.
Taking meds does NOT correct underlying causes + inhibits natural systemic thyroid production ability.

Hmm...

My quack doctor said my thyroid range was "normal". and im stuck with all these HORRIBLE symptoms!!! the healthcare system SUCKS!!

Mine looked "normal" too even though I was told I had an enlarged thyroid. That's why a thyroid enlarges -- to pick up the slack and to keep the thyroid hormones normal.

that happened to me also.. they ddnt think my thyroid issues werent as severe .. luckily my mom knew an endocrinologist.. where are your tsh levels?

this healthcare system may suck... but you're still free to pick another primary doctor.
so....
...find another doctor.

so? Im supposed to take test after test after test until I'm blue in the face? Cuz thats what I did. and ALL my tests came up normal. SO NO! The health care system sucks and the doctors don't know shit. So, I say rely on urself if u wanna get cured.

Have you considered the fact that you might not have a thyroid problem then......??
And if you did have a thyroid problem, I don't think "relying on yourself" would do anything for you.
