But if you have a large enough heat source and are at the midlle of it for long enough, you get a tremendous insulation effect with your core temperature well above the surface burning temp.

Imagine your whole body is covered in 20 layers of wool. You have a body temperature of ca. 27+C but the insulation of your own body heat will create temps >50+C

I think its true that the same thing probably would have happened under Clinton or Gore, but its also possible that it wouldn't have.
