@spunkets Clan of Xymox, you mean? They are still around making music and not looking fat. They used to be more on the proper synthpop side of things in the 80s, but in the 90s they moved towards a more darkwave approach. This track, in fact, is fairly recent (1999), as are many pictures in the video. They released a new album in 2011.
I don't think they were politically radical in the first place, but who knows.
