Query - how much does an African elephant weigh? I've heard 5 tons, and 8 tons elsewhere. This gets confusing as they're 3 types of ton. There's your metric tonne. 1000kg is it? there's an American imperial ton, 2000 lbs which is almost 143stone but there's a British imperial ton which is 160 stone or 2240lbs. And then there's variables. They're supposed to be 10'6" but big ones can be 13ft.

God bless Lake Manyara National Park for taking good care of a species that has been so misunderstood for so long. Such magnificent creatures. And recently discovered they are the worlds 3rd smartest animals next to dolphins and I think monkeys. Did you know they bury thier dead?

If you brought the size of the elephants brain down to the size of the Bottlenose dolphin, the elephants brain would be equally if not more convoluted.
