The female lead in this movie is probably the most tragic character I've ever seen. GOD did I feel sorry for that woman. And the actress(Kitty Winn) was incredible in the role. A real cutie too(those eyes!). The movie is really from her perspective...I thought she overshadowed Al here.
Well if you liked "Requiem for a Dream" I'd check out "Pi." Also go see "The Wrestler," which is in theaters now. All Darren Aranofsky films. As far as Jerry Schatzberg films, I'd watch this one, then maybe "Scarecrow," which is great, and "Puzzle of a Downfall Child," which is more interesting than actually good.
I can't find it on the internet.. So I'll have to buy it xD. I just watched Requiem for a dream, and now Im so depressed I want to watch a movie just like it to make me even more depressed :-p
They're both very different films. This one's very much rooted in a specific time period. I personally like "Requiem for a Dream" a lot, but I'm not sure I can really choose one over the other. I'd say they're both good films, and they both have their own merits.

Yeah, I know "Kids." That film might be even more depressing than "Requiem for a Dream." You need to watch something lighter.
