I think the idea is that the princess overcomes racism in this movie, not that it doen't exist. so it would be weird if there were a man already having a lot of power if he was black. That just my take on it...I don't even know how they can have princes and princesses in new orleans anyway... i guess we'll have to see!

Tiana is not a princess. She's a maid. Ever since she was a little girl her and her friend Charlotte wanted to be princesses though, like most little girls. Be a twist of luck, they say Tiana will become a singer at Reggie's Resturant (blue gown custome), and meets the prince who was turned into a frog earlier in the film. She kisses him, but since she's not a princess, she gets turned into a frog too. Eventually they marry as frogs, and kiss. Tiana breaks the spell, cause now she is a princess.

Wow, reading these comments got me thinking. This story would REALLY have been interesting if it had been set in Africa, maybe during the English colonial period (so the bad guy could be a whitey, haha).

I think Disney really passed up on a great idea. Imagine the colors and the costumes and the character designs. It would have been awesome. It could have been set on the coast or something, so it's not like they'd have to do the jungle ala Tarzan or the savanna ala The Lion King again.

The prince now as a frog goes to Tiana to break the spell. She kisses him and becomes a frog too cause she's not a princess. The two frog then try to find Mama Odie to undo the spell. On the way they fall in love, marry, and kiss. This breaks the spell, cause after marrying the prince, Tiana is a princess. So they spell is broken, and they live Happily Ever After basically.

It is because Prince Naveen is a free-spirited jazz-loving prince who goes to America during the Jazz Age for real authentic Jazz music. And the story has Cajun fireflies, alligators, voodoo priestesses, Madi Gras and the banks of the Mississippi River. So yeah. New Orleans could be the only place to make this come alive. If you go to the Official Trailer, it will give you a summary of movie.
