I was at this Game and i was so plastered and I couldnt believe they didnt call this penalty.. It was the worst feeling ever to be that close to winning and lose it all because the refs decided not to call this facemask.. i dont know how they all missed it and i was sitting in the upperdeck.. It was the right call. He had knocked the ball out first, plus the rules say a facemask is when it's pulled, twisted or turned. It was pushed. Doesn't fall under the rule. And facemask isn't reviewable.

The rules say it should be a penalty - and not incidental, since he didn't let go, so it's 15 yards and automatic 1st down - but it wasn't called.

It was the right call. He had knocked the ball out first, plus the rules say a facemask is when it's pulled, twisted or turned. It was pushed. Doesn't fall under the rule. And facemask isn't reviewable.

If the rule is there, it´s not wrong to want it enforced (especially on a play that important), and it doesn't matter if you playing in the WNBA, thumwrestling, or curling. Your facemask can't be grabbed in any way. Period. the amount of force applied has nothing to do with it...

@bp2028 I understand that, but that is not the rule. The QB can throw an interception, get as much as touced in the helmet, well after he has thrown the ball... And it's a roughing the passer penalty anyway. This is the same thing (not saying it's fair or that the rule shouldn't be changed, if he was going to lose the ball no matter what). The rules say it should be a penalty - and not incidental, since he didn't let go, so it's 15 yards and automatic 1st down - but it wasn't called.

And I'm making a point that Rodgers doesn't get nearly any of the amount of calls like Brady and Manning do. He gets dished out so many times without any flags and he still gets up and wins. He, to me, is the single best QB cuz he'll take those uncalled hits on him and then get up and just dominate the defense with TDs

the call SHOULD have been contact to the head of the quarterback - no question the packers got hosed there. there is no longer a 5 yd facemask penalty and this didn't fit the criteria of a 15 yd facemask - ie grabbing AND twisting of the head.

It was certainly a facemask penalty, but at least in my opinion it's justified that the ref missed it since Adams doesn't twist Rodgers' head or anything with it and the ref's eyes, like everyone else's, instinctively go to watching the loose ball.
