i was there. from warwick services to the M25 took me from 10am untill 4.40pm. most the problems were ppl who couldnt drive in the conditions so they slowed and got stuck. when its like this you need to keep moving. once your stopped everything gets stuck behind you. i was disgusted that gritters were on the motorway but none were clearing the snow or spreading. they were just driving along with there lights on. i got thru this by using whatever road i could. gritters were out earlier, not grtin
We were in this from 16:00to 01:30. We got to Oxford services about half 2. There was a half hour queue in WHSmiths because there was a single chap at the till. Then we slept in the car. Cost us £10 to pay for the 24 hour minimum parking too. We expected a jack knifed lorry at the end of it all but you know what it was? A single man in a yellow jacket and a funnel of cones squeezing all this traffic into a single lane. Frankly, the gritters and ploughs should have been out HOURS earlier
Mate be and my girlfriend were stuck in that for 14hrs only to find when arrived at the service station all the food had either stopped or sold out!!!
At one point, a lorry driver decided to close his curtains and just go to sleep parked in the middle of the road.
