I'd love to buy one, but I would like to know, do they only fit acoustics or will an electric fit inside too? I have a Taylor T3B and would really like something sturdy to travel with it, please message me back.
Thanks for the kind comment, I have been trying to get in contact with the airlines to get them to rent these cases to their customers. No body knows what department I should present them too. We have been selling these to customers for 9 years now and have never heard of a guitar being dammaged using out cases.
just Look at the Video Response under the video, I toss it off the Roof with my Brazilion Rose wood guitar inside. The Video with the Taylor is about 5 years old now, I traded the Taylor for a Collins
I am more interested in how it fares if dropped from ten feet in the air. About equal to the handlers throwing it from a distance into the plane belly and it hitting the back wall.
As I understand it, Dave Carrolls was broken on the bottom end from impact and the case showed no damage.
Please don't test it with a Taylor. Go to some pawn shop and rescue a $10 kids guitar and test with that. If that El Cheapo survives, THEN maybe try it with the Taylor.
Many times the case looks perfect when you pick it up after a flight. When a case is tossed like in the VIDEO RESPONCE i have posted ABOVE it has a huge amount of shock that travels through the case and is absorbed by the guitar. Our case has so much extra padding in the correct places it absorbs the shock waves.
Of course it doesn't fit in an overhead compartment. This is meant to be checked baggage - "oversized', to be specific. This case absolutely works. I had a one of a kind resonator crushed by Delta Airlines upon refusal to allow me to board with it. I bought this case in response and have flown many times on various airlines. The wheels are solidly attached when on and removable with a good bit of pulling. Make sure you get a cab that can fit it, like a van if an option. The Jumbo is is big.
I use the Clam. I put my guitar in its hard case, and then inside the Clam and my guitar has safely flown from New York to Hawaii many times. Yes, of course, you have to check it - but I don't spend my flight worrrying about it -the piece of mind I get from the Clam is great.
Ok like I was responding to others in the various videos regarding the United Breaks Guitars song and responses: How would one carry a guitar in one of these larger cases aboard the plane as a carryon? Where are the people that claim this will fit in an overhead compartment? Even if it were to fit in an overhead compartment, are people that naive to think you'd have a compartment all to yourself? You generally are sharing that compartment with 5-8 other passengers
Our cases are to be checked as luggage. It is getting harder to carry guitars on board. Check out the Video Responses above to see me tossing it off the roof with out any problems.
If you had a disease or parasites like a tape worm wouldn't you want to tell the world how to fix the problem? I consider the luggage handling of airlines a problem that needs a cure. Throwing around luggage will never stop the handlers only have so much time to get a job done. Tossing of the bags saves time and human energy. I have a cure for broken instruments. I consider myself an inventor of a better mouse trap with a cure for a disease.
These are nice cases! Is it possible to make a container to fit photographic equipment? I've heard all sorts of horror stories regarding airlines trashing photographic gear, from light units, to super telephoto lenses, and laptops. I'm very impressed with your case for guitars, and I know you'd have a market for pro photogs who travel every day!
I'm actually a videogrpher by trade for 23 years. My guitar got broke while i was traveling with some very famous guitar players on tour. Its funny you mentioned it i have built severl Photo case for myself and other photograpic folks, I'll be post some videos of them soon
looks like a custom made coffin for eddie monster.

Is this the CLAM?
cienanosdesoledad 2 years ago
Yep this is the Clam Case. I came up with that name because a clam has a tuff case around it to protect it. It's name is also easy to remember.
guitarlesson 2 years ago
How do you call those organisms that feed from others? Parasites? Thanks.

Good answer. I like the clam. I have recommended to many. I did not know you were the inventor. Great job.
