  • he didnt hit the ground. After he got kote the japanese player hit it to the side as if to block it but it was after the hit and pushed his shinai to the floor

  • that last ippon was nice!

  • Darn ! I didn't understand anything ! lol

  • wait... hitting the ground after kote helps? ive always thought that it hit the floor cuse their wrist snap was so quick lol

  • wrinkleyep- for a player like Dan who is so fast with a shinai, hitting the ground after a low strike like kote or a hiki-do is a way to quickly retrieve a shinai back into its postion.

  • >is a way to quickly retrieve a shinai

Yes, "a way" but a *bad* way, against all tradition.

IMHO, if done often (on kote and/or do) the Shimpan-in should call hansoku.

Also, if you "hit kote... then hit ground" then you have both failed to hit properly AND forgotten tenouchi...

Hard to tell from this video - but the Nippon guy might have done some sort of uchi-otoshi on the US-shinai after the hit (explaining why the US-shinai hit the floor).

  • he hit the kote... then he hit the ground...

watch some japanese police kendo matches. they all do it.

  • wrinkleypp....Hachi dan shinpans don't know anything do they.derrrrrrrr

  • i didnt know ground was ippon

  • lol

    "woah woah woah woah"

couldnt really see if the first point (kote) was good

  • zomg lag but i still enjoyed it =] thanks
