I can understand closing the caves, due to safety reasons. However, why does the PA Game Commission continue to fight a loosing battle with people who would like to peacefully enjoy riding ATVs on state game lands? If the Game Commission is interested in increasing their revenue, they should sell ATV incenses for use during times when riding would not interfere with hunting. Why are there so few places to legally enjoy the harmless sport of ATV riding?
@strum456 ATV's don't seem so harmless to me as many folk die on a regular basis riding them. I have ATV morons riding up & down my street and these same idiots ride the trails behind my house making LOTS of racket. Ban them!
we go camping here and we def blew some huge ass shit up in those mines and we threw a shit off the lookout. . . some one needs to make a video of the natural cave that you can go through. . . btw this place is swweet
Casparis is a better location since the mines were closed. A applied effort has been made to bring this area back to a peaceful natural public land. Nice Video Mike.
I've been to Oppermans cave before. Just havent been inside for a while. Hard to get a group together go to in. I dont wanna do it alone. About the ATVs, the Game Commission wants hunters to be able to use this public land and no one else. Which is bullshit because its taxpayers land. The state would rather have people on the streets using and selling drugs than out enjoying the outdoors and bothering no one.
Check your info pal. All the money it took to purchase this land came from the Game Commission. And that money comes from the sale of hunting license. And the taxes also get paid for by the Game Commission.
Hunting license sales are not the only source of funding for the purchase of game lands. Grants from the government and conservation agencies make up a lot of the Game Commission's budget. Either way, why can't hunters and ATV riders share the same land? After all, how many hunters do not own ATVs and how many ATV riders do not hunt? Unfortunately, there are few places to legally operate ATVs. Until ATV riders are given legal riding options, they will continue to ride anywhere they can.
How about all the old cars and junk that was pushed over the cliff near Casparis? I bet there are at least a few hundred old stolen cars that were pushed over that hill. Anyone ever been to Uppermans cave? It is near casparis on the road up from south cville? It is near the railroad tracks about half way up the dirt road. I havent been there in a long time.
People are still going to get inside the mine. Hell, I was in there a few months ago.
But the idiots (and that area has a lot of idiots) need to understand that making a fire inside a cave or mine is like a slow timed stick of dynamite.
atv problem? atving is a nice family sport. and there taking that away from us all acrossed the state. whats your hobby? how would you feel if that was ripped out from under your feet? asshole

Its about time they did that! Should keep the hoodlums out of there, hopefully. Now they need to address the ATV problem.
