  • those are some sexy fish!

  • I like goldfish too, but since I can only (barely) house two in a 29 gallon, I have to go with tropical. xD

  • hey, my sister is gettin tropical fish for her b'day, cood u gimme sum advise?

  • this is lovely you did a great job! congratulations...

  • Is a 30 gallon tank same as a 30 litre hexogan tank? Im confused :s

  • @awais8405 gallons are larger than litres,

  • cool

  • Do I have to get an air pump if I'm gonna have a lot of fish? I

  • Why u like goldfish? tropical are more

    Interesting! I have a tropical tank (-:

  • @concorde232 Its simply a matter of preferance. Just like with dogs some people like pitbulls and some people like poodles. There's nothing wrong with tropicals; I have several tropical tanks now. But goldfish have more personality than many tropical fish. My goldfish are pets who seem to enjoy interacting with me where as my tropical fish (though just as well cared for) are more or less just something pretty to watch. As long as I feed the tropicals they could care less weather I come or go.

  • looks nice i just got rid of my oscars to set up comunal tank

  • Very pretty fish you have here. I'd love to keep fish but I just don't have the space. Thanks for sharing ^^

  • gold fish r crap tropical r better too look at and theres more types

  • @MrArron1987 ^_^ every one is entitled to their opinion.

  • you shouldnt really mix gold fish with tropical. its not good for the tropicals

  • @rowin09 ...I don't mix tropicals and goldfish. Where did you get that idea from?

  • @magscat3161 ok cool my mistake. its because you said you got alot of goldfish too.i guess you have a seperate tank thouh

  • @rowin09 Yeah I have several tanks and ponds I keep a little of everything but I'm careful not to mix inappropriate species in the same enclosure.

  • nice fish! makes me want to start my new community even more, nice video.

  • haha... fin... cause fish have fins... and it means finish... haha!!!

  • @rosepedal911 Don't ya just love a good pun.

  • Comment removed

  • @jandtsmom good filtration, regular water changes, careful feeding, and I don't allow the aquarium to become over stocked.

  • great job with the video and how you maintain the fish and its surroundings.

  • @bonmadam Just like keeping any pet. You do the research and provide for the needs of the species and keep the environment clean.

  • Nice tank I have platys too! :))

  • wats all that argueing abut??? theres no need for it really let him get on with it hunni i love ya fish :) i want ya platys :( give emmm to meeeee!!!! ;) ppllzzzz just kidding hey ya got sum lovely fish in there :D im all new to tropical myself i think iv got quite a few now i want more platys tho can i have urs :D just kidding :)

  • Great selection! right now i have some mickey mouse platys and tuxedos they are stunning

  • @boltp777 and thus proves my point, your just digging a hole, and talk is cheap. I doubt you could, as far as im concerned, your a poser who only likes to hate. Some of us are trying to actually watch stuff we enjoy, but trolls like you take the fun out of it.

  • @lightblockade This little turd has been blocked. I post these videos for people to enjoy and in hopes to educate people in proper fish husbandry. Not for trolling little shit stains who don't have a life to drag people down with their negative attitudes. Thank you for sticking up for me dear but lets spend our energy on positive things rather than wasting it on people that don't matter.

  • @magscat3161 i have also blocked him, and im sorry to start an argument, but i couldnt stand it. I hate cowards who feel powerful when they tear down people behind a computer. It sickens me ;)

  • @lightblockade Don't give it a second thought dear. I know just how you feel.

  • dude u dont hav a background paper !!

  • Ur Tank is tight!!! looks Good....

  • @neenei thank you ^_^

  • ok thanks

  • can i have 4 rummy nose tetras and 5 lemon tetras and 2 coolie loaches and 2 zebra loaches in a 63 litre tank

  • @jamie5838 63 liters is a little over 16 US gallons. you need 1 gallon per inch of any species who's adult size is 3 inches or less. Once you do the math your current selection would leave a 63liter aquarium overstocked.

  • nice tank i like it

  • wtf tattoed fish you asshole plus your tank blows.

  • if you had bothered to read any of my other comments you would have seen that I didn't buy these fish but took them from some one who was going to flush them down the toilet. I don't condone the tattooing of fish by any means. "Plus", weather you like how I set up my aquarium or not doesn't concern me even slightly.

  • @boltp777 im sorry, it looks like your the only asshole here, move along kid. Just because you have sheltered anger doesnt mean you need to take it out on magscat. Pathetic

  • Gold fish are better??? waaaaaaaa?

tropical fish look cooler and saltwater fish are even cooler then them, they are just really expensive...

  • Poor Tattooed Mollies. *cries*

  • Don't cry too hard for them. I took them from some one who wanted to flush them LIVE down the toilet. I hate it that people tattoo fish, it's cruel and I won't buy them. However, I couldn't see these having to suffer even more.

  • thats a butiful and well decorated tank and youre water quality looks good and ure fish look great good luck with you tropical fish p.s i also prefere coldwater i have orandas myself and commets and commens and some small koi and a sturgion in my pond

  • so relaxing

I put a deposit down the other day on a fish tank - I can't wait to collect it on saturday - I bought a book about aquatic plants for 49p

I can't wait to set up a tank with plants first and rocks and a log

my Dad used to keep Tropical fish in latter days but when I was a toddler I accidentally pulled his fish tank over

I will take videos of setting up the tank and its progress with plants and fish

I will probably write a computer program for fishkeeping diary on a website

  • You should join a forum for fish keepers ^_^ alot has changed over the years in this hobby and finding a good community forum can help when problems arise, give you some good tips on things that can save you money in the hobby, and it's nice to have ppl to talk to that love fish keeping as much as you do. I've made alot of friends this way ^_^

  • you should try sailfin mollies and baloon mollies

  • No one has brought me any of those lately. I don't buy fish I just take in stuff that people don't want these days.

  • have your mollies had fry. Mine make babies like crazy

  • Yes mine reproduce but I don't make any special accommodations for the babies so the parents and the bumble bee catfish eat them all. It may sound harsh but it keeps my tanks from getting over crowded and I don't have a bunch of inbreeding going on.

  • It didnt sound harsh thats what I used to do with my mollie fry but now i keep them and give them to freinds with tanks.

  • snails multiply like crazy i had one in my tank and quickly moved it to my brothers. and the minute i did it laid like a bunch of eggs. lol

  • hi i um have a 29 gallon tank and started cycling it like 2 days ago and the water is still kinda foggy. my filter is a whisper power filter 30 by tetra. is that good for my tank or do i need a different one? and wats the problem with my tank still being foggy? plz help me!!!! ty

  • A tank usually takes about 6 to 8 weeks to establish an initial cycle and 6 months to a year to establish what's known known as a mature cycle. Filtration needs depend on what kind of fish you're keeping and how many you have (or can potentially have as some are easy breeders). The Safest and easiest way to cycle your tank would be to do a fishless cycle. I'll think I'll send u a message there's just not enough room to really answer ur questions here lol

  • my tank always does this after a water change usually clears up overnight , i read somewhere that you just need to have fish in there

  • using clear ammonia with no soaping agents is safer. You don't have to expose fish to the unsafe swinging chemical parameters in an uncycled tank. Plus without fish in there during the cycling process you don't have to do daily water changes.

  • mollies and platys are easy... try angels they would look AWESOME in that tank.

  • I've got a 55gal planted amazon biotope with angels and all that jazz.. This was just a starter tropical.

  • This is one of the best decorated tanks i have seen. Very nice job. What kind of substrate is that?

  • It's just cheap white gravel. pest snails keep it clean along with regular water changes.

  • is dat sand at the bottom? if is wen u clean the gravel does it suck up the sand?

  • It's just white gravel. You have to be careful using sand as a substrate. Some fish species don't tolerate it very well as it irritates their gills when they forage in it. For other species sand is the ideal substrate.

  • k tanks for the tip.

  • Beautiful fish! Personally though I like tropicals better, though goldfish are awesome as well! =)

  • Eh.. goldfish aren't for every one lol I like pretty much all fish but I feel like many of the larger species shouldn't be readily available to general hobbyists. Most people stuff them in tanks too small, feed poor diets, and for the most part don't have a damn clue as to how to care for them properly.

  • I concur. And if they are available, they should at least take them back from people who can no longer take care of them.

  • I find this funny, as goldfish grow rather large.

unlless you are one of the few people who take correct care of their goldfish, you're contradicting yourself.

  • I don't feel goldfish should be available to just any one. They are much harder and more expensive to care for properly than most people are willing to do. I also don't agree with the idea of stores taking fish back. They shouldn't sell them in the first place if the buyer isn't prepared to care for an adult animal. it's like buying a puppy knowing you can't keep it as an adult so you dump it in the pound when it gets too big.

  • im a platy fan ,, i love all platys but think ill fire up the 40 gallon with some diff tropical fish later this summer

  • Thanks a lot! i'm thinkin about guppies later into summer....

  • lol. 209... fun... sorry for all my questions; please tell me if it is annoying. i was wondering how much harder/easier it is to raise tropical fish? also, what are some tools you need in a tropical tank that you don't in a cool water/ goldfish tank? thanks a lot for all your answers! I really appreciate it!

  • With tropicals it depends on the species as to weather they are hard or easy to keep. Generally most beginners in the hobby start with easy keepers like live bearers and hardy tetras. what makes them easy to keep it the fact that they do fairly well in a wide range of water chemistry. Always research the individual needs of each species you're interested in. Not all fish can go together and not all fish should go together.

  • Some tools you need: A heater obviously lol tropical get sick very easily if they are exposed to cooler temps for very long. Invest in a good water testing kit. The foundation of good health in fish is good water quality. Clear water does not always = clean water so being able to test for toxic chemicals from waste build up is very important. You should look into joining a fish forum their great tools for learning about the hobby and its many different aspects.

  • beautiful variety of fish. what exactly and how many do you have in their?

  • I started this tank with 6 platies, 2 pot bellied mollies, and a bumblebee catfish. The platies had babies...alot of babies. So I had to move them all to a planted 55gallon tank.

  • lovely tank it deserves better species than these common platys and mollies etc

  • lol I moved them to a fully planted 55gallon. I like them even better in that tank lol

  • i do like platys but once you have them i always get bored easy lol

  • I don't get bored with living things. Their not a toy to entertain me and they aren't an ornament to decorate my house. I try to give any living creature the same kindness and consideration I would hope for.

  • yeah i suppose so but the main objective of selling them is because its a common hobby entertainment is the main thing i might actually get a tank for my room and fill it with every colour of platy possible and also add a few gouramis i need a peacful tank my other one is crazy lol try adding corydoras to your tank you can pick up some really cheap there really good for the community tank like yours

  • there are around 209 different color variations for platties with new developments almost every year. I sincerely doubt you have enough room for all the possible color variations.

  • there will be more variations than that due to cross breeding you could go on for ever im sure but i didnt mean 209 diffrent plattys in my tank i just meant every colour variation they sell where i live which is probably around 15 to 20

  • man how big is ur house because u must need alot of space to keep the fish. And also what do you work as to pay for the fish and the equipment?

  • My house is average sized. I don't live in a mansion or nothing lol. I'm not rich either. Most of the time when I want something for my fish I save up for it. I also buy alot of things second hand. Much cheaper that way

  • a whirl a whirl awhirl i like it!

  • Nice platies!

  • Cute fishes :) (A little tip; to make the cucumber sink, put it on a fork/spoon with a thread attached around the fork/spoon, so you can easily take it up ;D)

  • i love the tank but i dont think you should be keeping painted(tattoed) fish:(

    anyways good luck

  • They were given to me by some one who wanted to flush them down the toilet. I don't condone tattooing of fish either. I won't buy them but if some one gives one to me I'll still give it a good home.

  • ok then, thats great :)

  • You know the fish at :48, i saw them DEAD at PETCO. THere was 20 and like u could litteraly see there bones and skeletons sitcking out. And they were getting sucked in the filter one by one. i came back 5 days later, samething, they were still there. So those fish creep me out.

  • If the conditions there are that bad you should complain to the management about them.

  • the tank looks good to me.

  • listen i have a 125gal tank and i have all cichlidsi think u should only get 3 at a time because its easyer on the fish . i dont think Guppies Red Wag Platys r that cool im not tryin to be mean but go for some better fish like a tropheus duboisi

  • Different species of fish are like different breeds of dog in the respect that different species/breeds suit different peoples needs, preferences, or life styles. Just because you don't like guppies and platties doesn't mean they aren't the perfect pet for some one else who decides they like them. I'm not a huge Oscar fan personally but I don't bash them b/c they are perfect pets for the people who do enjoy them.

  • I am about to start my first tropical tank as well in a 46 gallon tank. Any advice?

I wanted to start with 6 Neon Tetras, 12 ALL Male Guppies (two different types),

6 male Red Wag Platys. Should I get all the fish at once or in stages? The tank is already established. It had 5 goldfish in it. Let me know your thoughts.. thanks.

  • I'd get them all at once that way you can treat them for all the "new fish" issues at once and don't have to set up a hospital tank to quarantine new fish in stages which would take a very long time. I like your stocking choices all easy keepers to gain good experience from. just make sure they have good plant cover from either real or artificial plants

  • Hey man where did you get that dalmation platy I can never find any... Thanks

  • They were given to me by some one who didn't want them any more. I've actually seen the salt and pepper (or dalmatian) platy for sale at my local walmart. I don't like buying fish from walmart because they're always sick and poor quality but I have seen them there.

  • i hate thikin how much money ive put in and the efforts unbelivable but it all worthit i mean look at my vid its still a work in progress but its well on its way after 12monthes

  • How much was your tanks?

  • uh...good question lol I have several and I stopped keeping track of how much I've spent so far! XD If I had to take a guess on how much I've spent on this hobby I'd have to say over 20,000 at least.

  • fish are brill ive got troic fhish

  • I love your tank!!

  • thank you^_^

  • Very nice! Have you considered having live plants before?

  • I have several aquariums some have live plants and some don't. I don't have time to maintain planted systems in all of them.

  • thanks...any other option?

  • very nice fishes and tank...what is the software did you use for this video if you don't mind me asking?

  • I just used windows movie maker. I comes standard of most computers

  • i love this kind of fish.. they require no special needs.. and are cheap to buy.... though.... they seem to attack others until the whole tail of a "prey" fish is gone.. living it floating and dead...

  • They usually only show aggression if you over crowd the tank or allow poor water quality to stress them. I've never had aggression issues with platties, mollies, or swordtails

  • Hello there! You're tropical platties and mollies are lovely. I live in the Philippines and I decided to post my gouramis' video to share with you. Happy Holidays!

  • nice tank! not sure about the music

ive got a schoul of bala shark in my 40gal

    :p

    nice filmin

  • Nice planting - Lovely tank

  • hi can i join your discussion and im hoping that you would answer to my message..or what you call this comments...i do have tri-color mollies some called them 24-k...i will post it soon so that you can also view mine mollies here in Philippines, Mindanao..and i like to do trade...

i just want to ask if either on of you here have green sailfin mollies??

  • Srry I took so long to answer I haven't been online in forever. I don't own green sail fins at the moment. They're kinda hard to find where I'm living right now.

  • get electric yellows and blues

  • agreed get some tripey or spotty ones

  • I love tropical fish and i love the different verieties of fish in your tank ...... i think your american ? am i correct? because im english and we prefer to say liters but anywat i love the video could u plz coment back to me plz your sincerly nebynnad7271 xxx

  • Yes I'm American ^_^ I have a lot of different kinds of fish but I like live bearers most b/c they're so easy to take care of.

  • dude tropicals are better they looked like boring fish (no affence dude) you need to get some bettas i have had mine for years now they are brilliant!!

but i still do respect your opinion

  • I'm a chick LOL. I keep all kinds of fish from oscars to angels and everything in between. I love goldfish. They just suit me. they aren't for every one though and I'm cool with those who don't share my affection for them LOL. I also keep bettas and have a few lovely individuals. :)

  • Thanks for the info :)

  • You're welcome! I supervise the emergency care and breeding sections for the aquapuppies goldfish forum. You should come and check it out. I know the forum is mainly for goldfish but we welcome anyone who loves any kind of fish and many of our members keep many types of fish other than goldfish.

    aquapuppiesdotcom if you're interested. :)

  • wow, your good, ive never heard of that before, how much per gallon do you know? or is it a guesstimate.

  • It depends on what the ph of your tap water is. The ph of my tap water is really high (8.4) So I have to use alot more to lower the ph. You'll just have to experiment with it and find out how much works for you.

  • thanks, but oh bugger, i cant get a bigger tank, and i dont know how to lower the pH

  • Well you can buy products to raise or lower the ph of your tank. Or if you're like me and like to take common sense short cuts you can just use lemon juice to lower the ph. Lemon juice will not only lower the ph but also give the fish vitamin C which they can't make for themselves.

  • u must be rich

  • Not hardly LOL Maybe if I didn't keep so many fish I would be XD

  • dang how old are u?

    lol im 14

    i have a 6 platies in a 20 gallon tank

i wish my tank was like urs but

money is hard to come by now these days

  • Wow, nice tank, and a lovely hobby to get into, i have a 15 gal tank. At the moment, im trying to breed Honey Gaurami. They are really hard. If anyone has any tips (except from keeping the surface air hot and warm, and lots of floating plants)

    Would be helpfull, thanks.

  • They need a bigger tank. You need 30gallons per pair if you want them to breed and the ph needs to be kept between 6.5 and 6.8. They like the water to be a bit acidic to put them in a romantic mood LOL.

  • realy nice tank

    u should buy some angels

  • Thank you! I have angels in my 55gallon amazon planted tank. Live bearing fish like a higher ph than egg laying amazon fish like angels and tetras.

  • Great Tank, Your mollies will breed like rabbits and lay their eggs in the stones, you will get alot of satisfaction. Great trank!... very nice! : )

  • Thanks :) Mollies are live bearers though they don't lay eggs.

  • Cool Banana's, I hope you get a great ecosystem happening. Your tank is really cool

  • Really nice fish. Nice setup and aquascape. Really phonmemonal.

  • Thank you

  • I absoloutly adore your King Cobra/Mickey mouse platy, never ever seen that mix before. King Cobra platy has always been my favorite. Your red/black wagtail is very cute too. Nice tank ^^

  • Thank you I love these guys coz their pretty, easy to care for, and just plane fun to watch!

  • is the fat one pregnant?

  • Just a balloon belly molly but it could be prego lol

  • LOL no she's not pregnant that's just what she looks like. I don't have any male mollies in this tank.

  • nice setup! :) B-E-A-Utiful!!!

  • LOL Thanks!

  • Hey i got the same plastic wood with fake plants on it 2 =) WAL*MART

  • LOL who doesn't! When I bought this set up all we had was a wal-mart. I would have had to drive for an hour & 45min to a good fish shop to buy any thing if it weren't for Wally world. That's what I get for living in a map dot!

  • I like the white play

  • how come my guppies dont make babies i had them for like 6 months now and i found some babies in my tank but it wasnt like 50-60 more like 8-10 O_o

  • The adults will eat them if there's not enough cover in the tank. Plus if you have younger females they don't have as many babies at one time as older females do.

  • Thsoe are beautiful tropical fish, i keep gupipes and goldfish myself, guppies aregetting out of hand, they are the million fish, they breed way to much and i constantly looking for people to give it away, other than that they are very hardy adn great fis hto keep. Guppies PLaty an Molly look great together. But i do enjoy goldfish more beautiful tank set up btw, i'm dead jealous lol

  • Thanks! I'm a fish nut. Have been for as long as I can remember. I'm sure my hubby wishes I weren't since fish tanks take up alot of the room in our home.

  • Perfect , don't buy a goldfish , it will be more interesting when they start to giving birth and then growing up, tank look great for me , I think I have to buy a bigger , chears from Poland

  • very good :)

  • You must spend alot of money on fish to have so many ponds and large aquariums. I couldn't maintain all that but yours sure are pretty.

  • Thank you! Yeah it can be alot of work but I really get alot of enjoyment out of it too.

  • watch out lots of platies/mollies means lots of baby ones they breed real easy.

  • Yeah I noticed I had to go buy a 10 gallon because it seemed like over night I had like 50 or 60 babies. I must have bought all the girls pregnant. I don't know any one who might want the babies and I'm afraid I may have to feed them to my goldfish to keep the numbers down. What a terrible thought.

  • take them to your your local fish store and they will buy them of you

  • I tried to but the guy won't take them.
