hi, we are having our annual block club party and I just wanted to interject some moms maberly between record breaks. I sitting here with tears in my eyes from laughing and crying at her deepness that is ringing true even today. If i am also gonna check out some more stuff from the past that is a blast. Thanks for putting it up.
Thanks for posting this. What started me as an evolutionary was this piece. Now I've found it. Until I heard this as a young person I watched the lights. Now I watch the cars. 9/11 is an inside job. The drug war should stop. Hemp prohibition should be replaced with the hemp for victory program. etc., etc., etc.
thanks so much for posting Moms. I was a child when she was alive, but I remember her well and begging to be allowed to stay up to hear her -- a wish not granted nearly often enough. Now my own children can have another Moms.
I was thinking of Moms just the other day and remembered one of her routines where she was talking about a toilet tissue commercial that was running at the time. I can't remember the brand but the catch phase was "It's too good to be toilet tissue". She went crazy with it and it was on national television I believe the Ed Sullivan Show and it was a Really Big Shew!!!!
Thanks for posting MOMS. I have been "doing" MOMS as MOMS MABEY for about 30 years based in Chicago, but I have had gigs in other cities. I had to scratch to find her albums. I am always clean and funny. See me on FaceBook and My Space in my videos.
TO ANY NAYSAYERS: MOMS was the FIRST FEMALE stand up comic - black, white, polka dot or any other color.
Oh how I fondly remember watching the late great Moms on varoius TV shows back in the 60's & 70's. She was so funny. The QUEEN of female standup. THANK YOU for posting this! May ALL your wishes & dreams come true in the New Year!!! :)
Moms told this joke about coming home unexpectedly. the Pepsi cola truck was parked in front of her house. She rushes in finding her old man sitting in the bathtub of pepsi singing "come alive, come alive" from the commercial "come alive you're in the pesi generation." generation?
How many of us once had a lady in their hood who drank and wore those clothes like Moms and told or try telling her jokes until we fall down rollin from laughing,and to top it off, did it without teeth. Mom was an original and one of the best at what she did. I love her and miss her all the same. I remembered when they shot the movies here in Bmore back in the day,yep it put Bmore on the map that year, for something good. I still past by one of Slappy's White .God Bless Ms Moms Mabley
Wow. An American classic from a better time. I wonder what Moms would say about the gangsters and the crackheads and all. She was a tough lady and she would have run them right out the neighborhood, I bet.
At long last, thank you so much for finding Moms! Her humor and homespun wisdom were so influential during my childhood. She once lived in my hometown of White Plains, NY.
Thanks for your post. I remember my parents running me out of the livingroom when they had friend over to listen to her albums............Ah memories.....TY
I was a child but I remember MOMs always saying she didnt want no old man. And I also remember seeing her on the cover of Ebony when she married a really handsome very much younger man. She was great.

It is nice to hear this pioneer again. I notice she is one of the inventors of Stand Up, however she is not mentioned most of the time.

There was a comment by Whoopi Goldberg, saying that one of Her first jokes on TV was by Moms!
And it was censored! The Joke was;
"Hmm... I smell hair Burning!, Well, Girl.. One of us is walking too Fast!!" lol!
God Bless Moms!
