I remember this crap and believe me it was THE WORST SHOW EVER!!! Looking at Bea Arthur for 30 minutes would be akin to looking at a porn shot of Rosie Odonnell for 30 seconds.....Both make you want to send your stomach contents to the roof.
i just bought maude season 1 it is so funny you have to remember that it's a political show focusing on lots of issues that were controversial for it's time.
When I was in grade school in the early-70's, I loved this show, and its them. I always had misheard the lyrics back then as "...and Lizzy Border was a bad Axe Murderer; aren't you sad she showed up? - Oh yeah!"
i think of bea arthur when i try to prolong sex, either that or a 400 pound hairy guy sitting naked on the toilet eating a bucket of KFC. i find Maude is more effective.

I agree though she scared the hell outta me.. the only reason I could watch was Andrienne BB. And Bill Macy??? As in William H. Macy?? Naw.. again I remember almost nothing of Maude. Maybe my mom made me leave the room cause I always screamed in terror till Andrienne showed up. Wasn't it a spinoff of Rhoda which was a spi.. etc.?
Bea Arthur is a comic genius!!

Amelia Earhardt flew lots of airplanes
till the time that she didn't come back...
lol That's a great parody of a great no holds barred fullblown feminist salutin' early seventies sitcom.
You have Chico and the Man?
The best pure song in my opinion, scratch.
My favorite song of that era was Streetbeater... aka San and son. Listen to a the studio stereo version on other than a tv.
Quincy Jones wrote that number.. greattttt tune..

It was season one. Her character got more airtime and she was listed, eventually. Her role was "reoccurring" originally.
