  • Everything in season 6 was hard to watch. The writing and acting was great but watching the character you know and love fall apart one by one was just painful.

  • i've read that before, that he had a really tough time doing that scene. i think he also said that he's never watched it

  • even now if i'm watching the episode i just skip that scene

  • I always thought of Spike as the woman in their relationship. I mean, what makes it different that it's a man? Is it superior strength? Buffy was much stronger than Spike even with the injury. Even when he was on top of her she had control. Nothing would happen without her consent. It was awful but I don't think I was as affected by that scene as much as I was 'supposed' to be. Her abuse of him seemed worse to me. The whole lighting thing and no music was an attempt to make it worse than it was.

  • @endbutterfly Physical strength is not the only issue in rape. There are emotional and psychological issues, and the issue of abuse of trust. Why did she plead for him to stop instead of giving her best to stop him physically at once? Maybe she couldn't believe he was doing this and hoped he would stop himself.

  • @nightandday she hurt her back and couldnt move well. Thats y it took her a while to throw him off

  • @endbutterfly I don't think of Spike as "the woman" in their relationship, and I don't see their relationship as being about gender reversal as much as sharing gender roles. And as far as abuse goes, there was a lot of abuse on both sides during their relationship. Fan reactions range from "Spike was a manipulative bastard who dragged poor Buffy into a destructive relationship" to "Buffy was a heartless bitch abusing poor Spike" - both are equally wrong and one-sided views, IMO.

  • @endbutterfly ... Besides, she wasn't *that* physically stronger than him as you think - or how come that all their fights were always evenly matched?

  • I love how 99% of the audience is female

  • I love this interview. I respect him for doing a scene that he hated so much. I read an interview where he said that he had a really hard time watching rape scenes on TV.

  • they did so well in that scene! amazing actors, the pair of them. absolutely brilliant.

I never ever watch that scene. i watched it when the episode first aired and every time after that, i skip past it or go in another room. i just hate watching it so much. but that just shows how good their acting is, if it's that terrible to watch.

    i love james. i love sarah :)

  • he did so well in that scene...so did sarah...i would hate to do a scene like that :S

  • One of my favorite scene. Great performence.

  • I did a rape scene for drama (i was playing a guy, man of la mancha for those who know it) and it was really hard. I felt just aweful, but it was a great acting experience.

  • What is he talking about? something on the Buffy show?

  • Yes, he's referring to a scene in a Buffy episode. "Seeing Red" season 6.

  • That scene was just terrible, not as in acting, but as in terrible to watch. Ugh, just horrifying.

  • It made me hate Spike, and I haven't been the same afterwards. The scene was amazing, though.

  • do you still h8 spike?

if so think of what he went through after. he went to get his soul for buffy what caused him pain and then he tried making it up to buffy which she accepted. i mean buffy doesnt h8 him anymore you should lol =D

yh i love spike thats y i had to say that :S

  • sooo this was this year i cant believe i missed it
