@Realife786 That's what I told him. Plus, Apple can't factory Unlock your iPhone. You have to buy one of their 'Factory Unlocked' iPhones. Which costs more.

@lilbabun You can't 'Factory Unlock' your iPhone. Only Apple can do that. The only unlock you can do on iPhones are Hardware Unlock (Gevey SIM) and Software unlock for the compatible Basebands. Which yours isn't.

@MrYoungPat I bought this phone used from someone. The Serial Number and Model shows that this phone is originally from Japan. And I assume Softbank is the Official Carrier for this Phone. Since the Baseband was unlocked when I first got It, I then preserved It for every iOS update, therefore keeping my Unlock. In Guam, I prefer using Docomo Pacific over the carrier who has the iPhone.

@nguyentommy86 Flash the Baseband to 06.15.00. 05.16.02 is not unlockable. You will lose GPS when you are on the 06.15.00 Baseband AND you can't restore to stock firmware.

I can't do a tutorial because my Baseband is already preserved and unlocked on 05.13.04. I also ain't risking to lose my GPS. Downgrade is NOT possible at this time.

@SuperNakedTv Downgrading: Nope. 3G Owners can If they have the 5.08 Bootloader to downgrade from the 06.15.00 Baseband.

Upgrade: Not recommended. If you did NOT preserve your Baseband, then you will need to flash your Baseband to 06.15.00.

@wibbdogg It shouldn't block ultrasn0w. Your iPhone is not activated that's why. First put your AT&T SIM card and then activate it. And install ultrasn0w and you can use your SIM card other than AT&T

@KnOcKOuTReFLeX Yes. That is the process to completely unlock your iPhone. Also since iOS 4.2.1 is the last iOS firmware ever developed for the 3G, your iPhone 3G will be unlocked forever, but you will have GPS problems (if u do use it)

@kevinjamesluis Yes you can. Any GSM carrier will work with the iPhone. If your iPhone is under AT&T, unlock it first before you go to Philippines. So when you arrive there, you can buy a SIM card (Globe, Smart, or SUN)

@jjkadyo Yup. An Unlocked iPhone will use any GSM carrier. Globe and Smart will work fine. But Globe is the main iPhone carrier in the Philippines. They also have plans for the iPhone if you wish to get their Unlimited text, 3G internet, etc;

Even though your iPhone is still under contract with AT&T, you can still unlock it. But your only option is T-Mobile in the U.S. Verizon or Sprint cannot.

@jjkadyo Its recommended that you unlock it. So that way, roaming charges won't apply to you. Trust me, Roaming is expensive. Just unlock it, get a SIM card, enjoy, and when you come back to U.S, you can continue using your AT&T Contract until its finished.

In the Philippines, I think you can use it with SUN Cellular, and Smart, since they also use sim cards.
