  • @jon12021 This car is missing RWD and 10" large wheels in the back plus some drifting capabilities. Thats why I sold this car years ago. Im now rolling a Supra Twin Turbo.

  • Stock Tranny. You have to mix the 3S-GTE tranny internals with the 5SFE ones to get a FWD tranny bolt on the 3S-GTE engine.

  • Stock ECU, wich was kinda bad, I was running way too lean. The next owner changed it for an AEM EMS, wich solved the lean problem!

  • a 3S-GTE engine is not bolt-on on a 2000+ Celica. You would have to buy a subframe and modify many many things, you'd end up paying way too much for what it gives.

    The best options to give a little bit of performance to a 2k+ celica is to open the engine block and forge the internals, then buy and install a turbo kit.

    I'd suggest to sell the car and buy a more performant one, for more fun =)

  • Alright, thanks. He just blew his engine and is currently borrowing my VR4 :( he wants the turbo power and wants to know what he could do to it for engine swaps while he needs to replace the engine.

  • The 3SGTE is bolt-on on a 5th gen Celica. You can keep your OEM tranny and mix it with the 3S tranny components, the good mix is: 5SFE Clutch disk, 3S-GTE Pressure plate, 3S-GTE flywheel. Then you're gonna have a FWD 3S-GTE Celica 5th gen.

  • The engine is not AWD, the tranny is. So yes, you can buy a 3S-GTE engine, mix and match the tranny and yes, just like the Celica in this video, you'll be running a 3S-GTE turbo engine on your FWD Celica =)

  • For perfect fittiment, you have to pick a 3S-GTE from the 5th gen Celicas, wich means 1990 to 1993 only. It ca be a 3S-GTE from a Celica GT4 or a Turbo MR2. Mine was a 1993 MR2 engine.

    I've sold tihs car almost 3 years ago. I bought a Twin Turbo RX7 FD3S (you can see it in my other videos), ran it until last week, sold it and bought a Twin Turbo Toyota Supra, around 400hp BPU modz. Will post a vid soon!

  • Changing the drivetrain is too much work for nothing great. A 3SGTE swap stays FWD, for best highway pulls, but of course, it sucks at launching.

  • you can get the 3s-GTE with the AWD tranny they run bout $1,500 CAD used

  • is this the FWD celica or the AWD? if its the FWD did u use the tranny that was in the car or did u use a MR2 tranny?

  • Stock tranny from the 5SFE engine. Worked like a charm. You have to use the 3SGTE clutch tho..

  • contrary to popular belief the stock 3s-gte is only 225 hp with 101ron fuel or higher other wise it's below. best model to go for would be the CS ( carlos sainz ) or jap import RC which is the CS equiv. the jap spec is better in respect to engine components i.e more solid turbo and more torque from the block but not so that you;d notice. they're not so easy to tune up generally compared to the st205 but depends what you prefer.

  • Depends on what you want. A 100% stock 3S-GTE swap is around 3000$ CAD. With some modz like mine, to acheive 300hp, it cost me around 5000$ CAD.

  • Comme j'ai écris dans la description c'est un swap. Donc c'etais un Celica 1993 GT canadienne FWD non turbo toute ce qui as de plus standart. J'ai donc swappé un 3S-GTE 1993 de MR2 dedans, avec plusieurs mods et sa arrachais en maudit :) Avec tout les mods sa couté environ 5000$ mais si tu veut juste un swap sans mods just un moteur 3S bone stock c'est environ 3000$ le swap complet.

  • You can swap in the 3sgte because a the 5sfe that your celica has similar if not identical motor mounts because the engines are in the same family however you need the ecu and wiring harness from an all trac or gt4(JDM) celica the transmission should bolt up however keep in mind your adding alot more power to your car so trans mods might be necessary, or if you rather Turbo charge your gts standard 5sfe Buerin Toyota makes a toyota kit for it however you will only get about 190hp out of 5sfe

  • Hey! The engine in this Celica is a turbo 3S-GTE that came from an MR2 1993. Buying the engine cost 1600$ CAD, paying someone to do the swap cost around 1200$ CAD, needed parts for the swap cost around 1000$ CAD and then all the mods (FMIC, Headers, Downpipe, Exhaust line, etc. etc. etc.) cost around 1000$ CAD. The total cost of all the project for that celica with the swap and all the upgrades is around 5000$ CAD.

  • But if you dont want to have your car moded, you can just swap it and keep all the oem parts, you'd then save around 1k.. for a total of 4000$ CAD for the "oem swap".

  • thanks I have the 140vvti model I was looking at either getting a GT4 engine but advised by the garrage I have to convert it allot more for the 4wd ect. They told me 3 options....

    1) Get 170 VVTI engine and turbo charge it with low millage 2) get a MR2GTS engine

    3) stick with my current 1.8 engine and turbo charge it

  • I was just saying i noticed you have a trd steering wheel and mind didnt last the aluminum is weak and the leather wrap you take the car in some heat and the glue will melt and it will piss you off the designed it for looks not functionality

  • Haha! This one is not a TRD steering tho, it's another brand (I dont remember) with a TRD horn button that I bought afterwards. This one seems more heavy than yours, cause I had it for over 2 years on high hot and deep freeze weather and it never broke!

  • Non, ce n'est pas un Celica Alltrac ou un GT-4 du Japon. C'est un Celica GT bien standart du Canada, avec un swap de moteur 3S-GTE provenant d'un GT-4 1993, il est donc FWD.

    For the axels, we used the stock ones, since I did not swap the tranny (still had 5SFE tranny).

  • Here in Canada there's lots of "JDM engine/car". So I bought the engine with 60k miles for 1600$. The labor for swaping the engine was around 1500$ and the additionnal parts needed and upgrades was about 1500$ (exhaust line, intercooler, headers, downpipe, fuel pump, etc. etc..). All prices in CAD$ of course loooool :P If you need more info, PM me I'll be more than happy to help!

  • Oh and forgot.. Yes it was the stock tranny. But theres a certain mix of parts from 5SFE and 3SGTE you need to do inside the tranny for it to work proprely. PM me if you need more info!

  • Thanks! I used stock parts for the tranny, here's the good mixup that will work with the 5SFE tranny: Clutch Disk : 5SFE, Pressure Plate : 3S-GTE, Flywheel : 3S-GTE.

  • lol Then you'd be one of the many I'd fool with this car. It was build like a sleeper. Intercooler is hidden there in the front, under the stock bumper. And what about the blow off valve we hear all long in the video? Does it sounds like a turbo engine? If you want pics, I can send you some with engine in and out :)

    Oh and btw, regular celica dont go that fast over 200KM/H =)

  • It is hidden well, cause at first i thougth you made it all up until you could see the acceleration and hear it.. i have a Celica from 91 red. but because cars are expensive in my country i only have a 1,6 16 valve..

  • Your 3SGE goes from 200kmh to 260kmh in less than 10 seconds? I really doubt this.

  • And more, your 4th gen has 130 to the engine and weight more than this 3rd gen. But this one makes 300 to the wheels. Dont worry, your celica would be smoked hard.

  • a white RX-7 FD3S Twin turbo imported from Japan (Right Hand Drive). You can see my RX7 in this video: watch?v=Fu5tZ9DbU-A at 0:10, 1:05, 2:28 and 4:01. It was last summer tho, I modified it alot during this winter..

  • yo i just bought my self a 93 celica gt-s non turbo. its a 2.2 l i belive not positive. do you know if the motor in your car is the same as mine?. its a 5 speed with like 121k miles and still runnin good. also wat exhaust do u have on there right now i got one from a 3000gt lol i kno a lil frankensiten ish but if you could let me know that would be awsome

  • Mine had the same engine as yours originally. 2.2L (5SFE), a world of difference with this one actually in my Celica (3S-GTE turbo). The OEM engine has 100hp to the wheels, while this one has 300. Swaping engines total cost is around 5000 CAD$ with the same mods as me. Good luck!

  • no offense but i tot 3sgte motor for 90-93 was 200-225hp. i heard that mounting the engine is difficult. i have a celica st 91 n im thinkin of swapping, but i heard the mounting and allignment of would b difficult and its expensive, but u think ur 5k was worth it?? reply to ME!! cuz i need answers from ppl who have done the swap! I LOVE MY CELICA. lol

  • No need for a scoop when you are equipped with an FMIC (Front Mount Intercooler). And cooling is way better than the shitty top mount OEM intercooler :P

  • Nope, the swap is bolt-on and you can keep the OEM tranny. But an inverted LSD mr-2 tranny is a better choice, but costy :)

  • Yes it does. It seems to be exactly the same transmission.. but some says the GTS is reinforced... who knows :P

  • Thanks! I used a stock GTS tranny. It works well, but has absolutly no traction. An inverted LSD tranny from an MR-2 is the best choice, but those are hard to find and expensive..

  • how bad is that torque steer? I'll be putting a 3sgte into my 92 gts next summer myself, aiming for 250 whp at 15 psi.

    Does using lighter wheels help?

    Any problems with that tranny? According to my research, the s53 tranny only holds 280 whp until it breaks.

    Also, would you know if the 3sgte bolts onto the 5sfe exhaust, just wondering if i need to modify my monza.

    Last, which fmic do you use?

  • First, 300HP on a FWD car kinda sucks. You wont have grip until 4th gear. Lighter wheels ALWAYS help! Tranny hold fine for the time I had it. Maybe if you go to the drag track everyday the tranny wont last long. But if you have a brain, it should hold fine. 5SFE exhaust works on the 3S, but I highly suggest you put a 3" exhaust + HEADERS 3" and DOWNPIPE 3" as well, it really helps exhaust flow. I used an eBay cheap no-name FMIC and it worked very well! Don't forget to buy a 255lph fuel pump!

  • It's an fwd Celica 1993 model GT.

    An engine from a AWD Celica GT FOUR has been swapped in. Adding headers performance, downpipe 3", exhaust line 3", BOV and running 15 PSI of boost gives this FWD Celica 300 horsepower to the wheels!

    The engine is now up to 300hp.. along with the FWD tranny on the highway this car is a bomb.. really.. so many people are being surprised everyday!!
