My own perspective comes from South Texas, where there were thousands upon thousands of Germans, Czechs, Polish and other Eastern Europeans fled before the war, during it, and during the Cold war. That includes half my teachers, City councils and a holocaust survivor who was head of the church I grew up in, etc. Maybe not half the population (like America, truth is indeed a minority). But that's what I'm familiar with, never having been to Eastern Europe myself.
