  • 1:57 SILENCE THE CHILD!

  • thank you Peter.. one of my favorite songs of all time and you certainly do it justice..and thanx for the cue about how to play.. Ill attempt it. LOL

  • can u give me the link of the site

  • Tabbbbs?????

  • @caspervanstraaten

You can probably get the tab on ultimate-guitar. Dropped D tuning (DADGBE). Verse is constant Low D under a shift between Dmaj7(A and C#) and G (G and B). chorus or refrain is Eminor, F# minor, G, F#minor, each played for full measure, then same pattern doubled during "Everybody wants to rule the world."

Thanks to all for the wonderful comments. I have a solo version, but I chose to use a pre-recorded loop for this performance to add texture (musicality over skill). Pete

  • The most beautiful harmony..melody of T4F

  • Fantastic!! What a beautiful atmosphere you put in this song!

I think it's one of the best songs ever made (saw them live in Rotterdam, amazing).

    Well done man!

  • Wow this sounds so accurate!

I would agree with the earlier post that it seems better rendered than McKee's version too.

I wish it was better recorded though :(

  • i like this one over andy mckees. tbh.... DONT GET ME WRONG.. i love andy mckee... but he was in a different tuneing in it and it sounded off to me... this is in the correct tuning + it sounded rushed to me... my opinion but i do love andy mckee's work and i have all of his cd's

  • Fantastic rendition! Really captured the essence of the song.

  • He's amazing

  • Tears T_T 5 stars

  • That was really, really REALLY GREAT! I`m almost crying :) Pro!

  • WOW - That was reaaly good!

  • wow brother u are amazing! this is the best cover i listen in all the time! good luck!

  • beautiful, it sounds so beautiful on acoustic... I wish I could play like him.... thanks for putting this up!

  • best fucking cover ever!!! holy cow. righteous man!

  • @jonmark11 You are wrong. Andy McKee's cover is the best. Not this one.

  • if it wasn't for the looper i'd say this was one of the best, but i still think andy mckee's is alot better. andy plays melody, bass, chords, harmonics and his "thumb thwack" slaps. but all in all, great cover pete, sounds great!

  • I absolutely love his arrangement. It's the best acoustic cover of this great song I've been able to find here.

  • @williamyanes Then you need to listen to Andy Mckee's cover. :)

  • This guy is so dope. I listen to this cover every single day!!!!

  • AMAZING! God Bless you

  • sooothing!

  • Far out, you are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • the one thing i see a lot in your playing is passion :) the way you keep an eye on what your doing and nodding your head in rythm i like it (Y) well done :D

  • awesome job bro

    5/5 thanks for posting

  • cool (:

  • Excellent

  • someone's doing the bass in the background... i thought he's doing it all by himself, but a great rendition though, cheers

  • I don't think anyone is playing in the background, but he's definitely using a looper or something. He's not doing it all by himself.

  • @darkknight91 it says in the description that he uses a loop.

  • very soothing

  • wow amazing!!!

  • sensacional !!! Regards from brazil

  • Awesome !, good job. I play this often.

  • well done!

  • amazing!

  • great great great.if u want, can i do something on tube whit ure song.....i got something cool

    thanks or forget it.not bad

  • Sure. Fine with me. You can do whatever your heart desires.

  • excellent, teach me

  • Great

  • he is using a loop station and its a lovely version. Bringing back some 80's songs is always most welcome! Especially if its instrumental. J

  • Great job, great song too!

  • I think he's not playing alone... there are some impossible guitar parts... There are simultaneuos bass, rythm and guitar solos... I wish someone would transcribe this... well done! I love this song...

I wish someone would transcribe this..

  • I'm glad you like it. Just for the record, , i'm using a Jamman Looper. In this performance, I'm playing the bassline, the melody and the chords. I loop in an extra guitar line here or there (starting at 1:08), and during the solo, and a few other parts. I looped in the parts to add some texture. And of course the audience realized what I was doing.

If you want to hear an amazing strictly solo performance of the song, check out Andy McKee's performance up above

  • So that's the trick here... I thought someone was playing in the background but was not seen in the camera... I just wanna ask how long did it took you piece out this song? I'm trying to do the intro and I noticed tuning is on dropped d? right?

  • right, it is dropped D tuning, and essentially in the key of D. as you've probably noticed, the recurring rhythm is Dmaj7 to G. it took a day or two to get the arrangement worked up. if I had the time, I'd work up a more intricate solo version. but I'm thrilled you like it.

  • The intrumental sidel is as heartfelt as the original - sad to say no every song we hear on the radio is as inspiring as this one as well other Classics Songs.

  • Excellent cover, man!

  • Hey Pete! this is Jef, from Brazil.

I'm a friend of Rod. I love this music. Well played!! Congrats!

    Greetings from Brazil

  • Hey Jeff. Brigad. I'm happy you like my music.

I stayed in Curitiba for about 7 weeks in 1994. In fact, I was there on July 17, 1994. Never experienced a victory celebration like that in my life. Take Care.

  • I just saw Andy McKee play last night in Vienna, VA and he did an AMAZING version of this....nothing pre-recorded needed to support his performance. Andy - you need to post up a video clip of you playing this!

  • Andy McKee is certainly an extremely talented musician...I hope to see the same performance if he ever comes to this area!

  • He has a video of it up already! It's posted by NintendoDSKid

  • wow! I can´t beleieve that there is just one guitar playing this..it seems you have some extra help ,you play it very well.I play this song but after listent to you playing I think its better I retire lol..You need send this to Tears for fears guys, I think you play even better them;

  • WOW!!! Very nice.

  • thats the best version i have ever heard.

  • thats probally the best version i have ever heard

  • Nice arrangement for two guitars. Who's playing the other guitar part?

  • amazing performance!

I will try to play it!

  • yeah...he's not playing all of that at once...but it's still a great version.

  • superb version. A Class Act.

  • Wouldnt that be cool if the Tears for Fears guys listened to this!

  • Amazing! You're doing three voices with just one instrument! 5*

  • wow that was good

  • Awsome!

  • fantastic,great tune,great cover,

  • Awesome playing, but please, please buy a vintage guitar with some dark tone cuz this one is so trebly it detracts from the utterly masterful playing. The guitar sounds plastic!?

  • loops, no loops, who cares, that was absolutely freakin insane. unreal

  • MASTER!!!!! :-) Congratulations

  • Now that is awesome!!!! Great stuff indeed!!

  • I'm gonna post this vid on my myspace page!

  • thats freakin' awesome lyrics, melody, the whole shibang, you my boy got skillz much props n respect. love your version yuo rock!

  • greatttttttttt

  • This is really good, but youve blatantly got another guitar playing off camera.

  • Thanks. It's out of view of this shot, but I have a Jamman Looper at my feet. See reply to comment by MauiBeachBum below.

  • OMG, Peter you are ab-SO-lutley AMAZING....and your gonna get it for not telling us about your hidden talent. Bring CDs please we want one. Thank Charles and Ken for telling us your secret!!!

  • that's incredible...i love this song!

  • very nice!

    what tuning is this in?

i would like to play it:)

  • Thanks. Just Drop D tuning. Relatively simply.

Thanks to everybody for their nice comments.

  • Nice!

  • Who is this? You certainly do TFF justice! Are you a recording artist?

  • Fantastic!! Wow... well done...

almost sounds like you have two guitars going.

  • Thank you. glad you like it. I'm using a Jamman looper on this song. It's still all me, just not all at once. I can play it solo, but I like to add a few extra layers. Wish I could do it all that once. Not enough hands.

  • Beautiful!

  • wow! what monster player.

  • Pete did it! This one is awesome!

  • don't sue me, but that was very enjoyable!

  • wow! one of the best acoustic covers of this song on youtube. I'd rather like to hear someone cover this in a non-acoustic version but yours is cool enough

  • Increible! Felicidades... :D

  • Awesome! :-)

  • nice man! :)
