just found this band after watching an interview of Trent Reznor (nine inch nails) who claims theyre an amazing live band...and they are. hes right. glad i found this band!
@Calyn666 'King of Limbs' isn't a good album, too much electronic for an ''Indie Rock'' band. Arcade Fire's albums are much better, so lets talk about that instead of the hyped Radiohead.
@NotImportante82 Who said Radiohead is a indie rock band? You can never put a label on Radiohead and i like to keep it that way in general :) I don't want to compare these two albums. They are amazing.... separately. Arcade Fire are an incredible band. They released 3 studio albums and all 3 are masterpiece.
@calyn1984 I totally agree, The Suburbs and The King Of Limbs are fantastic for two complete different ways. Come to think of it, Arcade Fire and Radiohead are fantastic for two complete different ways.
I noticed they seem to actually want to be there unlike most bands/artists who show up and do a mediocre performance. There always smiling and that's the main reason I want to see them live.

Did I nail this or what with my comments on Saturday b4 the Grammys? I told everyone I knew "Arcade Fire Arcade Fire Arcade Fire". They all looked at me like who? what? And then waiting til 9pm eastern for thier 1st mention on the Grammys. And then hoping they rock the house. And then "BAM" from the 1st second they hit the stage they torn up the house. That was a "hell ya moment" n THEN they win Album of the Year. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. And Im freakin 50yo! Come 2 Motown

This is the only way I can ever re-live the AF show I went to three days before in Boston. This is a fantastic band and we get to see them at their peak. They're the next Radiohead, an incredible, transformative group that will remain important in music history for the next hundred years.
don't people think outside of the box anymore? They manipulate the lyrics to make you think up the lyrics..i'm glad they won, plus their canadian too!!GO CANADA!!

i just wanted to add, don't like any of the others nominated either, but these guys are not that talented. i would much rather have listened to lady gaga, and watching this whole thing was painful, and yes i did watch it. The drummer sucks, the guitarists are pitiful, the bassist is predictable, i can play every note they played on this video, and probably sing better too. Where do you people get your idea of what talent is. You are as pitiful as they are if you like this shit
@bnigh5495 What the band members do individually may not be that spectacular but together they can make the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. They have talent for sure. I mean, most of the band members change instruments at least 3 times during a set! And c'mon Regine is playing a hurdy gurdy! :D
@mackie096 And what kind of "good" music do you listen to?
It's a shame that closed-minded, ignorant people don't understand or take the time to appreciate how wonderful real music can be. They're missing out on life. We're living.
Plus if you have nothing good to say, DON'T SAY IT or bother spending your time to listen/watch this.
hahaha, I knew this would have so many comments about the Grammys because it is the first video to come up when you search Arcade Fire... Why don't you actually listen to some of their music then you can give a justified opinion. Just because you don't know their music or they won instead of your favourite artist does not mean they are a bad band. They are phenomenal and one of the best bands of the past decade. Its about time they're talent got recognised by "the mainstream" awards.
@harrymuse while i generally agree that VEVO is pretty sucky i doubt that this Arcade fire concert would have made it onto youtube in such a cohesive and highly quality form if it wasn't for VEVO
@lusiya96 You named all radio artists, you should be happy an independent talented band won, sticking it to the corporate, mainstream, Illuminati music industry.
@lusiya96 WHAT! They don't deserve it! They have been in the music business for a decade telling their passionate and emotional stories through song. Maybe you should see that the Grammy's aren't based on who sold the most or who is most played. It's on raw talent. These guys take 7 to 8 instruments and beautiful intertwine them. It's like a freaking modern orchestra is playing. Did you even listen to their album? They were 100% the best choice.
@SMFApples YOU DA MAN. Perfect answer, mate. Their music is contemporary classical/opera music, their lyrics are contemporary epic, as they portrait our world and raise it to the level of art. And who writes this is a classical musician.
They're playing slightly different rhythms to give the song a layered feel. If you want to a better, more thorough application of the technique try any of the Allman Brothers Band stuff, especially Fillmore East
August 5th was my birthday, and also the day this video streamed live. I got home late around 10 and remembered about this show and started watching. I was born at 10:10 pm, and at that same time i started to watch this video. Thank you, Arcade Fire, for the best birthday present ever!
I'm 50yo and I dig the hell out of this band. One of the most positive vibes in music history! I believe thier Grammy performance will put this band over the top, as many peeps have not heard Arcade Fire yet. This band's mainstream popularity is about to explode! Please tour Motown ASAP
i love the semi commune feel of the band. everyone plays just about everything. except the guy who just runs around stage and bangs on shit. he is the heart of the band and this is a classic. Terry Gilliam, American Express, and Arcade Fire, we need a DVD!!!!!

@anlijur waaaaaaahhhhh. Unless you decide you want to start paying to use YouTube, it won't be changing. There are people starving, kids being murdered, oppression and genocide going on all over the world and the thing you want to rally behind is the non-commercialization of YouTube?
@anlijur you fail to understand that youtube cannot run free of cost for our free entertainment. it cost google 700 million $ to run google and they've just started (since 2010) making it profitable after years and years of losses.
@anlijur Remember when you would never get an ENTIRE live concert, in high quality, directed by an awesome director? Maybe you should be thanking Vevo for giving that to you, not crying.
Poor sound on many of the songs, however it does give a great sensation of their actual shows, you haven't seen them? You haven't lived and should do everything in your power to change that!
Is it just me or does Win seem really pissed of during Keep The Car Running? He's looking to to left of the stage and says something at 1:07:00. It sounds like "Not Now", then a guy runs on stage. Then at 1:07:44 he shouts something away from the mic.... I wonder what was wrong with him!
Is it just the video or was the crowd terrible? At the end when they started up Keep The Car Running there was a mediocre response from the crowd. I (and many other Arcade fans) WOULD HAVE GONE APESHIT, IT'S FUCKIN ARCADE FIRE!
Thank you for (re)posting this! Seeing them at Lollapalooza this year was the highlight of my summer and now this concert allows me to sit in my and reminisce about that great time in Chicago!
@Babagau I took the time to log in to a random computer to tell you youre wrong.
they are not the least bit boring, considering every album of theres is a masterpiece. very few pauses because its simply music for the ears, no bullshit ranting of opinions or expressions being pushed onto the audience. just raw music, how can you not appreciate that? and very few memorable songs? are you fucking out of your mind? every single piece of music this band has played has become an instant classic.
@deathbrainsable "every single piece of music this band has played has become an instant classic." right!! Their songs are performed by David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and U2!!
they are as a good band as an indie band can be in general. Their success is mainly because of the mix of unique production, melancholic vibes and clever usage of social media. Some songs are masterpieces but I think saying this for a whole album is an exaggeration. I think their main drawback is that their style is so specific that it 'd be hard to change it and if they don't, they will just keep repeating themselves over and over. Anyway, time will show.
@deathbrainsable do you think they will still be listened to in 30 years, are they that classic, honestly this is the first time ive even listened to then
@GuitarsAreMagic there are few bands that last on a large scale for 30 years. this is the first ive heard of them and i have to say im pretty blown away. 30 years or not right now they are pretty amazing!
18 people's computers audio isn't working, so they turned on their radio and played Lady Gaga over it. Looks like it didn't turn out so well...

I love how the audience ooh-oohs 'Rebellion (Lies)' before the encores.

@02jonesm His mandolin gets unplugged and he screams "I can't fuckin' hear it!"

@purpleballoon15 That's what I thought happened... after I commented I re-watched it and realised what happened.

Is it just the video or was the crowd terrible? At the end when they started up Keep The Car Running there was a mediocre response from the crowd. I (and many other Arcade fans) WOULD HAVE GONE APESHIT, IT'S FUCKIN ARCADE FIRE!
fern244 1 year ago 18
@fern244 that crowd noise in Keep the car Running might be whatever Regine is playing... what is she playing?

Thank you for (re)posting this! Seeing them at Lollapalooza this year was the highlight of my summer and now this concert allows me to sit in my and reminisce about that great time in Chicago!

the production is amazing, the melancholy flows but they are a bit boring, same rythm all the time, very few pauses and very few songs memorable.
Babagau 1 year ago
@Babagau I took the time to log in to a random computer to tell you youre wrong.
they are not the least bit boring, considering every album of theres is a masterpiece. very few pauses because its simply music for the ears, no bullshit ranting of opinions or expressions being pushed onto the audience. just raw music, how can you not appreciate that? and very few memorable songs? are you fucking out of your mind? every single piece of music this band has played has become an instant classic.
deathbrainsable 1 year ago 67
@deathbrainsable "every single piece of music this band has played has become an instant classic." right!! Their songs are performed by David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and U2!!
CaradocMorDellOboe 1 year ago
@deathbrainsable
they are as a good band as an indie band can be in general.
Babagau 1 year ago
@deathbrainsable do you think they will still be listened to in 30 years, are they that classic, honestly this is the first time ive even listened to then
GuitarsAreMagic 1 year ago
@GuitarsAreMagic there are few bands that last on a large scale for 30 years. this is the first ive heard of them and i have to say im pretty blown away. 30 years or not right now they are pretty amazing!
